The leader of a Mexican drug gang is fatally shot. Sweets, who was spending his FBI leave doing community work in that Latino quarter in search of his roots, agrees to help Booth, but the locals trust neither. The gang was in violent conflict with five others, but despite another shooting in the sleuth boys' presence, that yields no prime suspect. The 'library gun', deliberately used in many crimes, traces to Maria Alvarado, mother of Sweets' favorite bright youth center ward Javier, who has dealings with several gangs.
