A fun little series
Tweekums1 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This series of three minute shorts, four if you include the rather catchy end credits, follows Miss Monochrome's struggle to become Japan's top pop idol. Miss Monochrome is in fact an android powered by a single AA battery and as the series starts she is incredibly rich… until she is conned out of her money by Mana, her assistant who she had found abandoned. Having lost her house she wanders the streets until she bumps into a man; seeing his 'manager' badge she recalls Mana saying that an idol needs a manager so she asks him to find her work… soon she is working at his convenience store! It may not be the sort of work she was after but soon her new 'manager' is sending her out to auditions that may help her ambition become a reality.

'Miss Monochrome' is a rather fun little series that packed plenty of laughs into its short run time. The protagonist's attempts to become a pop idol are pretty amusing; especially as some of the things she does are in fact more impressive than being a singer. The animation is pretty good although it is surpassed in the closing credits where a 3D animated Miss Monochrome performs an impressive dance routine that makes the credits unskippable! Since the episodes are so short the story is hardly deep but it is well worth watching as the whole series can be watched in under an hour.

These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.
