The drink that Red orders for Agent Keen is a classic cocktail called an Aviation. First published in 1916, it was meant to symbolize the wonder of the quickly expanding field of aviation. The Aviation is made with top-shelf gin, Maraschino liqueur, Crème de Violette and fresh lemon juice. Normally the drink would appear a much lighter blue, reminiscent of the sky, hence the name.

In the scene at the start, where the Chinook lands on the tanker, the Australian flag is flying on the starboard mast. This suggests that the ship is entering Australian waters.

Prior to the fundraising event for Floriana Campo, there is an overhead shot of the red carpet entering the building. This exact shot is also used in Home Is Where the Heart Stops (2009). Both the Blacklist and Castle episodes aired in the first season of the respective series and both the red carpets were for a fundraising events.
