Let’s be real: Brie Larson became the center of negative attention ever since she joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Playing the role of Captain Marvel, the hate she received was relentless. Whether it was her acting or her off-screen moments and opinions, Brie Larson was targeted left and right on social media, and to this day, she still faces the wrath online.

Ever since her first screen appearance in The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Brie Larson has been in a ton of projects whether it is TV, films, or theatre. Therefore, calling her a “bad actor” doesn’t really make sense if you think about it. Why else would she be signing project after project and why else would she have over a hundred awards to her name? Think about it.

Amber Rose is making a surprising accusation.
The 41-year-old model and activist accused Beyoncé of ripping off her “whole speech,” presumably from her 2024 Republican National Convention appearance, for the 43-year-old’s own speech at the Kamala Harris rally on Friday (October 25) in Houston, Texas.

When the cast and showrunner of “What We Do in the Shadows” talk about their impeccable FX comedy, two words keep coming up: fancy room.
This is the formal, technical, and maybe even industry term for exactly what viewers will suspect; the ornate sitting room of the Staten Island mansion where a group of vampires gather to lounge, fight, and occasionally hypnotize a private school principal to the point of irreparable brain damage. For showrunner Paul Simms and actors Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, and Mark Proksch, who all gathered together for a PaleyFest panel on October 19, group scenes in the Fancy Room were among what they’ll miss most now that “Shadows” has wrapped filming.
“Those were the scenes where I’d feel probably the most nervous going in,” Novak recalled of the early seasons. “‘Oh wow, these guys, it’s gotta be good, and I can’t fuck up.

Kathryn Hunter elevates everything she’s in, which goes double for a film as limp and directionless as The Front Room, the directorial debut of Max and Sam Eggers. A horror-thriller that might also be attempting comedy — it can be hard to tell — The Front Room begins with Belinda (Brandy) being forced to quit a job that undervalues her. She also has to contend with the mood swings of her husband Norman (Andrew Burnap). Then Norman’s eccentric stepmother re-enters their lives: Solange (Hunter), a self-professed psychic. She is meek and hunched over, uses two canes, and frequently soils herself — though she doesn’t let this stop her from overstepping Belinda’s personal boundaries.
What ought to be unnerving is mostly off-putting. The movie’s presentation is distant, and its animated, sitcom performances from Brandy and Burnap — which render Belinda and Norman broad and uninteresting — don’t match its attempted thrills.

MisterWives graced The Green Room stage, on Saturday, October 5th, to kick off Austin’s biggest annual music festival. “This is definitely the nicest green room we have been in, by a lot,” Mandy Lee declared. Lee, who is the frontwoman of MisterWives, sat alongside her four bandmates, looking out onto the South Congress Hotel event space, flooded with Texas cacti and dressed in PATRÓN Tequila-themed installations. “I’ve been in much smaller ones,” William Hehir, bassist, confirmed, laughing in awe at The Green Room’s charm.

Starting with "Iron Man" in 2008, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has never really been in the market for A-list movie stars. 'Twas not always so. When New Line controlled the rights to "Iron Man," Tom Cruise was interested in playing Tony Stark. But once Marvel Studios began casting with thoughts of a bold franchise future, it was less interested in stars than actors. And it was willing to take significant risks to get the right person. That's how it landed on Robert Downey Jr., who'd battled substance abuse for most of his career, to be the anchor of the "Avengers Initiative." As for the rest of Earth's Mightiest, they were (mostly) well known, but not box office draws in their own right.
Once the brand was the draw (i.e. after "The Avengers" grossed $1.5 billion worldwide in 2012), Marvel could cast just about whomever it wanted (within reason). They just had to...

The Silent Hill 2 Remake stays very true to the original’s unsettling atmosphere, and one of the most tense parts comes when you’re trapped in the bug room inside Toluca Prison. This part of the game is one of those moments that can make you panic, especially since you’re stuck with a locked door and swarms of bugs crawling all over the place.
There’s a keypad on the door, but you need to punch in the right code to get out, which can be tough. If you’re having trouble figuring it out, here’s how to get the right code and escape.
What is the Bug Room code in Silent Hill 2 Remake? Only the numbers 2, 3, and 9 are free of blood, making it a simple solution for the keen eyed.
When you first step into the room, it quickly becomes clear that smashing bugs is just the least of your issues.

Netflix’s Rebel Ridge seems to have won audiences over with its visceral action and amazing performances from lead actors Aaron Pierre and Don Johnson. Pierre seems to have won over critics and fans alike with his restrained work as a former Marine officer entering a new town, where corruption is rampant.
The actor’s performance seems to have propelled him to a new level of stardom. Pierre’s work in Rebel Ridge may just have made him a top contender for many upcoming action flicks, including a remake of A Fistful of Dollars. The remake of the classic that put Clint Eastwood on the map is currently in development.

It’s an often-touted cliche that a great way to win an Oscar is for a performer to portray a real-life person. Cillian Murphy won Best Actor earlier this year for playing J. Robert Oppenheimer in “Oppenheimer,” Jessica Chastain took home Best Actress in 2022 for her portrayal of Tammy Faye Bakker in “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” and Rami Malek won Best Actor in 2019 for his depiction of Freddie Mercury in “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
It’s curious, then, that Best Actress has often been rewarded to performers playing fictional characters rather than real people. Over the past decade, 28 of the 50 nominations have been for original turns, with a whopping seven of those winning out of 10. Here’s the complete breakdown.

While Stephen King is known as the King of Horror, he has produced masterpieces when he deviated from his usual genre. Examples of such works include The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption. Now, King’s sci-fi novella, The Life of Chuck, from his collection If It Bleeds is adapted into a film, that debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival.

A24 is one of the more trusted bands in cinema these days. It's that name that can help turn a movie like "Everything Everywhere All at Once" not only into a huge hit, but an unlikely Best Picture winner at the Oscars. The studio has had a lot of luck in the realm of horror in recent years with the likes of the "X" trilogy and "Talk to Me," among others serving as examples. But even the best studios must suffer a misfire from time to time. It's just the nature of the business. A24 recently suffered a brutal misfire in the form of "The Front Room," which has made a little bit of under-the-radar, unfortunate box office history.

Mike Flanagan’s The Life Of Chuck picked up the top People’s Choice honor Sunday at the Toronto Film Festival as its 2024 edition wrapped with renewed celebrity heat but still in the shadow of Venice and Cannes.
The Stephen King novella adaptation stars Tom Hiddleston, Mark Hamill, Karen Gillan and Chiwetel Ejiofor in a genre-tripping film about embracing hope in the face of tragedy and had a world premiere in Toronto. Flanagan in a statement thanked TIFF for the top audience award prize: “I’m absolutely overwhelmed. The People’s Choice Award from the just-wrapped 2024 Toronto Film Festival has gone to The Life of Chuck, first runner-up is Emilia Pérez, and second runner-up is Anora. The Documentary Award goes to The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal, and the Midnight Madness winner is The Substance.
Both runners-up Emilia Pérez and Anora were big winners at Cannes in May (the latter taking the Palme d’Or), but Mike Flanagan’s Stephen King adaptation The Life of Chuck was a TIFF world premiere and a surprise winner of this award.
Tom Hiddleston stars in the film based on King’s novella about three chapters in the life of an ordinary man named Charles Krantz. It is an unusual winner here for this award as it currently is looking for distribution and has no set release date, which means it could be the first People’s Choice winner in recent memory...

Here at Tubefilter, we’re piloting a regular rundown of assorted creator economy headlines. Every week, we take in more news items than we have time to cover. This column is a way to catch readers up on some of the stories that have flown under the radar in recent days. Let’s get into it…
Creator commotion
DogPack404 is finding that this journalism stuff is a bit harder than it looks. Despite legal threats, a former MrBeast employee continues to post videos that criticize the North Carolina-based creator. This time, DogPack went after MrBeast’s “secret CEO” James Warren. But he also identified Warren as the defendant in a domestic violence case that actually featured a different James Warren. Oops! That one might come back in court.
DrDisrespect has no shame but plenty of views. The disgraced streamer’s longtime editor quit his post rather than return to work...

Be honest. When NCIS premiered in 2003, did you really expect it to be going strong and with a full franchise built around it 22 years later?
Jag was a success, but NCIS outperformed even the wildest of expectations of a spinoff to become a cultural juggernaut that shows no signs of slowing down.
Can you imagine a TV lineup without at least one version of NCIS? When you’re looking at decades of long-running entertainment and on-demand watch possibilities, it’s impossible.
So, what makes NCIS such a success? We have some ideas.
(Robert Voets/CBS) Gibbs: The Guy Who Said More with a Look than Most People Say in a Speech
Even years after he stepped back from leading the team, Leroy Jethro Gibbs remains the backbone of NCIS. There’s a reason the character is getting the prequel treatment — he’s iconic.

A24, the company behind films like Room, Moonlight, Lady Bird, Everything Everywhere All at Once and Past Lives, is as bold and daring a distributor as any in the movie business today. Rarely has that been more evident than it is in a pair of films that they brought to the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival (to say nothing of the film that they acquired during the fest, a nearly four-hour VistaVision epic intended for projection in 70mm).
Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino’s Queer and Dutch filmmaker Halina Reijn’s Babygirl both came to Toronto after having their world premieres at the Venice Film Festival. Both films star bona fide Hollywood A-listers — Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman, respectively — in highly risqué roles that explore sexual inhibitions, or lack thereof, and power dynamics. A video circulating the internet of President Joe Biden wearing a Donald Trump hat at an event on Wednesday (September 11) is not a deep fake. However, it is still being taken dramatically out of context.
The 81-year-old Democratic president can be seen standing amid a crowd with a smile on his face while wearing a red hat that is emblazoned with “Trump 2024.” Multiple accounts on X (formerly Twitter) have shared the footage, including the official Trump War Room account.
They’re thanking Joe for “supporting” Donald in the election. However, a senior deputy press secretary for the White House revealed what really happened.
Keep reading to find out more…
On X, Andrew Bates replied to the Trump War Room account, explaining the photo.
“At the Shanksville Fire Station, [Joe Biden] spoke about the country’s bipartisan unity after 9/11 and said we needed to get back to that,” he wrote.

Yoshihiro Togashi’s contribution to the world of manga and anime has helped many of the biggest mangakas reach their heights. Through Yu Yu Hakusho and Hunter x Hunter, there have been numerous people who found themselves taking inspiration from him. Moreover, his fan following has been strong and dedicated after seeing how no amount of hiatuses could stop them from rooting for him.

The world of Hunter x Hunter is vast on its own, allowing a mixture of what Shonen fans love the most with the touch of a darker side. His storytelling methods stand unique on their own. Even Gege Akutami is obsessed with the series, having every single volume of it in their house. The 76th Primetime Emmys are almost upon us, with the remaining 25 categories to be presented on Sunday, September 15, 2024. (The other 99 races were doled out last weekend at the Creative Arts Emmys.) Gold Derby is currently predicting that “Shōgun,” “The Bear” and “Baby Reindeer” will each add five more trophies to their individual tallies, but I think we could be in for a surprise or two (or four!) when the envelopes are eventually opened during ABC’s three-hour ceremony. Read on to see my Top 4 potential Emmy shockeroos to watch out for on Sunday night.
Brie Larson (“Lessons in Chemistry”) for Best Movie/Limited Actress
While the vast majority of Gold Derby’s Experts, Editors and Users forecast a Jodie Foster triumph for “True Detective: Night Country,” I believe Larson has the edge in this red-hot lead actress race. The “Room” Oscar winner delivers a career-best performance as a 1960s chemist-turned-tv-chef...

2024 has been an incredibly tough year for the entertainment world. After bidding farewell to so many beloved stars in 2023, including Matthew Perry, Tina Turner, Andre Braugher, and many more, the new year hasn’t brought much relief.
The industry lost more legends who have left a lasting imprint on millions of hearts. Yet, their work and legacy will continue to live on, reminding people of the joy and inspiration they brought into their lives.

M. Night Shyamalan’s Trap will be available on digital from 16th September with a DVD and Blu-ray to follow. More details below.
M. Night Shyamalan’s Trap was like a breath of fresh air in a summer blockbuster season full of large scale comic-book films and very serious epics. Starring Josh Hartnett as a dad moonlighting as a serial killer, Trap was “deliciously goofy” and all the better for it.
Hartnett plays Cooper, who takes her daughter Riley (Ariel Donoghue) to see Lady Raven (Saleka) in concert. We quickly find out, however, that Cooper is also Butcher, a notorious serial killer who has his latest victim locked up, waiting to be, well, butchered. As it turns out, the entire concert is an elaborate operation designed to catch Cooper, leaving him desperately looking for an escape route.
If you missed the film in cinemas, worry not. Trap will be available...

Plot: It tells the story of a newly pregnant couple who are forced to take in an ailing, estranged stepmother.
Review: The name Eggers has been widely associated with great cinema due to Robert’s wonderful filmmaking abilities with films like The Witch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman. But he actually has two brothers who are trying to make a name for themselves, writing and directing The Front Room. It’s going to be hard not to compare Sam and Max to their brother Robert but their styles couldn’t be more different. And it results in a very mixed bag.
The Front Room follows Belinda and her husband, Norman, as they prepare for the arrival of their baby. To help with the arrival, Norma’s estranged stepmother moves in with them. But instead of just providing financial assistance, she wants to manipulate the family in her own way. As...

The Toronto Film Festival is awash with international titles. Led by Mohammad Rasoulof’s “The Seed Of The Sacred Fig” and Gints Zilbalodis’ “Flow,” the festival’s huge Centrepiece spread alone has 38 titles from outside Canada and the U.S. The Discovery section has another 18.
Not all Toronto international titles are world premieres, however. Here are 16 which are sparking good word of mouth. Variety isn’t claiming they are the best. The buzz might not be justified. But they are certainly worth tracking.

A24’s horror-tinged dark comedy The Front Room starts rather unconventionally, with its star Brandy delivering a message to audiences asking them to disregard typical theater etiquette and “get loud.” It’s an interesting move — not just because it will disillusion A24’s core audience of cinephiles but also because it attempts to force a level of B-movie camp. Although it has its moments, The Front Room is ultimately a vapid exercise in genre filmmaking.
The Front Room Review
The film follows a young interracial couple whose idyllic relationship is thrown askew when one of their racist stepmothers moves in and tries to take over their lives, creating an uncomfortably twisted power dynamic. From the point the film begins, it’s clear where the story is heading. However, a predictable ending can be forgiven if the journey is worth the ride. Unfortunately, The Front Room does not deliver in that regard.

Here’s something September hasn’t seen in seven years: a movie opening to north of $100M over a Friday-Sunday span.
Whatever Warner Bros. lost over the summer in largely a string of flops — its May-to-Labor Day season didn’t even break $170M — the David Zaslav-run entertainment conglom will make up for this fall beginning with the long-awaited sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The Tim Burton-directed pic starring Michael Keaton is eyeing a global start as high as $145M.
Broken out, that’s $100M-$110M, per various tracking and exhibition bean counters, with around $35M from 69 offshore markets (a 75% international footprint). The last big opening of this magnitude stateside in September was New Line’s It, with $123.4M domestic in 2017. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice presales, I understand, are ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which turned in a 3-day of $118.4M. Given further boost to audiences’ appetite for this classic...

When two maestros like Eiichiro Oda and Akira Toriyama meet to discuss each other’s works, there’s bound to be a little friction. Still, the interview that resulted from the encounter carried lots of information on both One Piece and Dragon Ball.
Both creators talked about their creation process as well as how they like to portray characters. This led to the authors relating with each other while revealing what their personal styles are. Oda even discussed how he manages to keep One Piece interesting despite its long run.

At the start of 2023, filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan secured a multi-year deal with Warner Bros., and soon after that deal was made, we heard that his first movie for Warner Bros. would be Trap, a “psychological thriller set at a concert”. That project made its way through production toward the end of last year, with lead roles going to Josh Hartnett, fresh off his appearance in Oppenheimer, and Shyamalan’s daughter Saleka, and the finished film was given a theatrical release internationally on July 31st, with a domestic release following on August 2nd. (You can read our review Here). In the weeks since its release, Trap has racked up over $70 million at the global box office… and now it’s time for it to come home. Richard Osman’s House of Games is king of the play-along quiz show. From editing in such long pauses before the celebrity contestants press their buzzers that you start to worry they’ve had a stroke, to Osman’s regular pats on the back to those of us rattling our windows at home by shouting “Michaela Strac-han Solo” at the final round, everything is generously designed to include viewers in the fun.

Twelve fan-favorite global glamazons will return to the stage of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” to compete for the title of “Queen of the Mothertucking World.”
With at least one season under their belts, the queens are back with more confidence, glitz and glamour than ever before. The twelve all stars told TheWrap what they’re bringing with them into the new franchise of “Drag Race.”
Alyssa Edwards, the all-American queen from Texas, said, “as soon as I left season five, my pumps hit the ground running.” The sassy, Southern queen returned for “All Stars” season two and said that joining the “Drag Race” family changed who she was at her core.
“Walking into this Werk Room not only changed my idea of drag, but who Justin is – the man behind the magic of Alyssa Edwards,” she said, adding that her experience is what she is bringing into the new franchise.

Given Sony Pictures' largely dismal track record with Marvel, most fans didn't have particularly high expectations for Madame Web. So, when the movie debuted with 12% on Rotten Tomatoes and earned only $100.3 million at the worldwide box office, it wasn't exactly a shock.
Despite boasting an impressive cast and a director with superhero experience in Sj Clarkson, little to nothing about Madame Web worked and it's now destined to be remembered as one of the worst superhero movies ever made.
Many cast members will rebound and some, unfortunately, will not.
In the case of Isabela Merced, she's quickly moved on from Madame Web thanks to roles in Alien: Romulus, The Last of Us season 2, and Superman. Talking to Josh Horowitz, the actress reflected on her brief Marvel experience.
"I'd say...I feel like every actor I know and admire has that one movie where it's so camp. It's so camp [Laughs]," Merced started.

James Gunn has assembled an impressive cast for Superman, including Alien: Romulus and Madame Web star Isabela Merced as Hawgirl.
Based on what we've seen in set photos, the character will be a member of Maxwell Lord's Justice League International alongside Guy Gardner/Green Lantern and Mister Terrific. Talking to Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused podcast, Merced shared her excitement for the first DC Studios movie.
"I'm so excited for everyone to see [Nathan Fillion]. I think he's fantastic," she started. "The whole movie is very loyal to the comic books but with a James Gunn twist. I really think it's funny, it's clever, it's heartwarming...at least, that was my experience on set. Obviously, things can change in the editing room but, God, I loved James."
"He's so prepared. I could exhale on set and didn't need to worry about exhaling after because James is one of...
