- Working in the stop-motion puppet animation technique, for which they are best known, this short film by the Quay Brothers revolves around the work and life of Uruguyan writer Felisberto Hernández, often referred to as the father of 'magic realism', and for whose work the Quays share an affinity.—Edward Waisnis
- In a realm beyond the senses, plants interact with surreal cinematography to chart the course of our character: an entity said to embody the life and work of Felisberto Hernández, Uruguayan father of magical realism. Through this journey, we are confronted with an open-ended experience questioning the nature of musicality versus cinematography, entity versus aberration, and self versus space, in a self-referential, blurry, digital and mystical setting.—MAX GROFFF
- Working in the stop-motion puppet animation technique, for which they are best known, this new film by the Quay Brothers is based on the work of Uruguayan writer Felisberto Hernandez, often referred to as the father of 'magic realism', for whom the Quays share a strong affinity. While drawing on the literature of Hernandez, Unmistaken Hands: Ex Voto F.H. traffics in the atmosphere and poetics of cinema of a distinctly Quayvian variety. The film was produced by Atelier Koninck QBFZ in collaboration with PRO BONO films and the support of the Fundacion Felisberto Hernandez, with funding provided by the Wexner Center for the Arts at The Ohio State University, the hosting institution that provided the funding under the auspices of their residency program.—Anonymous
