Tornado sirens, high winds, and thunderstorms halted production midway through filming at The Allen House.
Shot in 14 days.
In 1949, LaDell Allen Bonner committed suicide in the room where Julie and Ellie sleep. The Allen House has been featured on many ghost hunting programs, but despite filming in "One of the Most Haunted Houses in America," nothing supernatural happened during production.
Weeks before production began, there was severe flooding in South Arkansas. Julie's grandmother's house as well as the crew's cabins couldn't be reached until just days before shooting.
Frances, Harold, and Alma are all named after the writers' grandparents.
