A very disappointing Digital Playground 4-part series, "Sweethearts" presents the dumbest cliches of several film genres, tied up in a gonzo sex passage.
It takes the structure of a Slasher horror movie, carefully leaving out all the violence. But since there is no prospect of mainstream crossover, the target audience of DP website subscribers won't mind, as lengthy sex scenes suffice.
It's a revenge picture harking back to high school days when folks get together in the woods for a sort of reunion weekend many years later. The characters are all uninteresting, just there to have sex with each other. There's no screenplay credit (yet a long list of crew members displayed) for obvious reasons.
The casting is weak, even though DP usually gets top talent on the payroll. Best actress on view, Aubree Valentine, is wasted.
