Episode 1

I thought the first series of The Marlow Murder Club was uneven. An interesting first episode let down by the conclusion.

Maybe the makers had fixed it for the second series.

Sir Peter Bailey (James Wilby) is due to get married to his nurse Jenny Page. He has invited Judith Potts as he has some concerns about his safety.

Jenny brings along Becks and Suzy with her. They witness his son Tristan gatecrashing the wedding rehearsal and causing a scene.

Later Sir Peter Bailey is found dead in what looks like a freak accident. A bookcase fell on him.

The ladies think it could be murder. Sir Peter had changed his will recently and it had gone missing.

It was good opener. The roguish and despicable son. The sweet innocent nurse. A potentially vengeful former wife who values her title.

Despite the murder the ladies of the murder club keep it frothy and there is that crossword puzzle.
