Pleasant and Sharp: Court-Com
sally_inn1 March 2024
After quite a time, it was nice to see something which strikes as knowledgeable, funny and stress Free.

It's about the competitiveness's between the professionals lawyers, politicals and a fight to achieve the might.

Episodes are of reasonable duration, cast is solid and acting is wonderful. Comedy and jokey tone remains all along and never makes it boring differentiating it from the past court based dramas/ movies.

Overall a pleasant and balanced series, can be watched with families (except some 'abuse talks' at certain points). No stress type aspects and no dull moment all along making it 'just a Wow'.

Just splendid

Why don't lawyers go to the beach?

Because even the sand can't escape their scrutiny - it's always under "appeal"!

Courts serve as a forum to address various social injustices prevailing in the world. They are often viewed as a social gutter, where even minor disputes can take years to resolve.

"Maamla Legal Hai," despite the tense and tiring atmosphere commonly associated with legal proceedings, presents a captivating and humor-filled courtroom drama on Netflix. I assure you that it will not only make you laugh but also provide enjoyment from the beginning to the very end.

Episode 3, in particular, stands out as the funniest.

From Ravi Kishan to Naila Grewal to Nidhi Bisht, each actor has portrayed their roles beautifully.

Don't hesitate; just click, watch, and enjoy.

Fun Ride with Court drama inspired by true events
sudhir-352733 March 2024
Set up in the background of court room, this comic drama shows the many forms of law and justice in day to day issues of common man but on a lighter note.

Backed by some superb performances from the lead cast Ravi Kishan equally supported by the co actors who take us on a ride which is filed with fun, emotions, ambitions, law & justice.

Each episode portrays issues of common man ,and thier resolutions in court rooms in our day to day life , which are even inspired by true incidents.

Life of lawyers, bar association, elections, are portrayed in a very subtle and close to realistic possible.

Good work by director Rahul.

All in all good fun to watch.

Deserves all the praise!!

I don't know why this kind of content is still so rare in India when it is demanded the most. A light hearted comedy drama that introduces us to ground reality of a profession or a setup just like Panchayat...yes 'PANCHAYAT', it gave me the same vibe. The characters are interestingly written stuck in believable situations and played by some of the very fine Actors across in industry, special mention to Ravi Kishan who is flawless in black coat. The direction is good, dialogues are witty and stories are based on some of the real life incidents as claimed in the series. I Hope to see a Second season of this with Ravi Kishan in it and would like to urge Netflix to focus more on this type of content.

Edit : So happy that it got renewed for a second season, wish the cast and the whole team a heartful Congratulations!!

I would like to say Indian cinema has come a long way and actors are choosing a movies cautiously .

First I would thank Ravi Kishan for doing a spectacular acting and it tell that an actor need a story teller and story forms automatically.

It's light hearted series with mind connecting thoughts between each cases @naila did a great job with perfection.

Each episode just peels of layer by layer and give you freshness of life . MUST WATCH !!

Awesome acting by sujata and pp saheb . We deserve you more.

What has made me write this review is the need for each of us to appreciate the story like these to be brought forward. These series should not go in notified.

"Unveiling a tapestry of human emotions, the Netflix series is a riveting mix of legal drama and heartfelt storytelling. Led by Tyagi's compelling performance, complemented by the standout portrayal of Mantu and Miss Negi, the cast delivers superb acting that resonates with authenticity. Rahul Pandey's direction is masterful, weaving each episode with emotional depth and resonance. From laughter to tears, every episode engages viewers on a profound level, inviting them to connect with the characters' journeys. As the series culminates, it leaves a lingering thought on overcoming inhibitions and embracing new challenges. Undoubtedly, this is one of the finest legal dramas to grace the screen."

Laughed after long time - amazing series to watch

This was something new and that too with lots of comedy. Every actor did great job. After long time me and my wife finished one season in one go. Really good comedy web series to watch. Ravi kishan sir , what a superb acting. Didi character was great too. All characters did great job. Simple webseries with not that action or nonsense masala. This was pure comedy series to watch .

The season picks up after first episode. I don't think we have such a good hearted lawyers in our country but comedy wise this was very good. Ravi Kishan did great job and I will not be surprised that soon he will be also compared with great other actors. He stole the show.

Maamla Legal Hai: A Breezy Legal Comedy Delight

Maamla Legal Hai: A Breezy Legal Comedy Delight

Netflix injects some lightheartedness into its repertoire with "Maamla Legal Hai," a delightful deviation from the usual gritty crime dramas. Instead of delving into dark legal battles, the series offers a refreshing and slightly humorous portrayal of the inner workings of Indian Bar Associations.

Eschewing intricate legal details, "Maamla Legal Hai" prioritizes lighthearted entertainment. The witty writing duo, Saurabh Khanna and Kunal Aneja, mines humor from the court's eccentricities, ensuring the laughs remain fresh and organic throughout the eight-episode "Breezer" (referencing its short, light-hearted nature). While its primary focus is comedic entertainment, the series manages to deliver a heartwarming and satisfying climax, leaving viewers with a sense of fulfillment.

The cast shines throughout, with Ravi Kishan yet again delivering a captivating performance, building upon his success in "Laapata Ladies." Nidhi Bisht and Naila Grewal showcase their talents with contrasting characters, while Anant Joshi seamlessly blends in with an endearing performance. Anjum Batra and Vijay Rajoria anchor the supporting cast with solid portrayals.

While "Maamla Legal Hai" doesn't break new ground in terms of storytelling, it successfully fulfills its purpose - to provide a lighthearted and entertaining experience. This "harmless and effective" Netflix series offers the perfect escape for viewers seeking an enjoyable binge-watch filled with relatable humor and heartwarming moments.

Loved it.
TreeFiddy5315 March 2024
Would totally recommend this lighthearted comedy drama, 8 eps long - 30 mins each. While having a central plot with proper character building and subtle commentary on the justice system, each episode is (apparently) loosely based on true cases, some of which make you go "Really? That happened?"

More than anything else - this was a well written show. I heard this is one of the very few times (maybe the ONLY?) Netlix has collaborated with writers who've made stuff for TVF. No wonder. You can recognize the faces in this image and can tell that the acting is going to be good!

I ran the show in the background and it was enjoyable even then, you're bound to like it more if you pay proper attention. If you're looking for something to binge, something lighthearted but also thought-provoking, look no further.

Ticklish ..Giglish..
Rajit_thebingewatcher11 March 2024
The premise is set up in a patpatgunj, small town where the district court is located. It is inspired by several quirky, serious and unique real cases in india. The characters are relatable ,funny and the premise is light. The main role features Ananya Shroff (the aspiring beginner lawyer, the harvard graduate), Sujata( the struggling one) and Tyagi ( big shot of that small town, president of bar association) however, all these three are facing their own dilemmas of life. Nothing on the plate is enough in life right?

Inspite of being a comedy its social satire are to the point only hampered by loud and tacky music I would say. Ravi Kishan is on point , Neila is okay , Nidhi bist brings her TVF experience here and comes up with lot of giggling moments ,punch, sketch comedies in the drama.

A ticklish series I would say. Not an 8 but definitely a good one.

Warning: Spoilers
Very very refreshing.. watched it without any expectations and the series turned out be a comic emotional ride.. No adult content no forced comic scenes just pure situational comedy... A very honest perception of lawyer community for who thinks LLB always means a fancy courtroom drama... a LLb graduate or who persuade LLB should definitely watch this series to understand the ground reality of law and justice... All the starcast did a fantastic work throughout the series... Ravi kishan handled the series brilliantly... Naila garewal is surprised package... Nidhi bisht comic timing superb...and all the remaining starcast done their job perfectly... After watching this I wish there could be more episodes I wish there could be definitely season 2... A must watch series for every one...

Average attempt
ravithegenious15 March 2024
It tries to be funny but doesn't reach to the level of Biswapati Sarkar and Sameer Saxena's potential. Writing could have been much better.

It is based on the headlines of real incidents but the stories could have been woven to the entire story in a better way. Few episodes are border line cringe (Monkey story - Dignity) but the dialogues of Munshi Jee is worth praising.

Ravi Kishan and Nidhi Bisht have done their part really well. However, it felt like many of these big actors were underplaying the roles. And other actors were over doing it except Vijay Rajoria (Munshi Jee), who aced his character.

Rawness of the setup is the essence of the show. You could watch this because this still is much better than 80% of the shows being made now a days. Sweet and simple.

disappointing and farcial

Warning: Spoilers
I used to like the old sitcoms...but when I tried to watch Yeh Jo hai zindagi again, I found I could not tolerate it anymore. By the third episode of mamla legal hai I got the same feeling again. I expected some legal basis...but in the opening scene we had a bizzare case of accused being let off on bail on technicalities between robbery and dacoity. Ananya Shroff is unbelievably naive and after a time it grates - the lawyer protest.. with this kind of naivety, she won't be successful anywhere.

By the third episode with the human langur and the parrot I surrendered. This is for children and those wanting intelligent entertainment.

A perfect balance of humor and sensitive
aksubi-105006 March 2024
There are many shows that entertain us, but a very few that touch our hearts. This is one of those.

A show that walks perfectly balancing the act of humor and sensitivity, theatrical and reality, hope and hopelessness, effort and chance.

The acts in the show were exaggerated and economical as needed. The characters take 2 episodes to sink in while they are evolving. The conviction in dialogue delivery wants you to believe them and their non-judgements wants to change something inside you.

The finish unexpectedly beautiful, leaves you content with what was seen, but makes you want more with much sincerity.

MAAMLA LEGAL HAI:-a good courtroom comedy, bogged down due to its own confusion between comedy and satire.
puranjanbasak11 March 2024
Maamla legal hai is a drama series directed by rahul pandey.

The series starts very meekishly for me. The jokes were seemingly lame, the intention was always there but something was really missing. It became evident as the series progressed and the series just caught its right pace. The emotions were missing, you cannot go comedy comedy comedy all the way, it will get stale after a point of time.

Ravi kishan is the star of this show. Starting off as a cocky, high ground lawyer, his character transitions to be a very likeable one, mainly due to his antics and the shades brought into his character. His equation with his father, though in brief sequences, was effective. Naila grewal impressed me a lot. She had to play a character who had to learn that there is always a distance between law and justice. I think she carried off that smug attitude really well. Nidhi bisht is funny. Her character started off well, but somewhere in between, her motives were not given importance. The writers had to develop her character more. The other characters are decent.

I think the series was confused whether it wants to be a comedy or a satire, because the writing has to be different for both. The series learnt that thing from the 4th or 5th episode onwards. The slight pokings at the lawyers' and judges' plight in this country helps the series. The series portrays different abrupt cases which were weird and wacky. The homour in those places seemed off, I mean the level of humour being generated with those cases was off point. Another gripe has to be the use of background score. It was almost present in all emotional scenes. The makers had little confidence on their audience and their writing, to be honest.

There are some humorous one-liners which are worth remembering. The short sitcom approach helps the series from being dragged on. A solid 7.5/10.

gripping, fulfilling, and hilariously funny legal drama
tarekali-199099 March 2024
I have not felt frustrated at the end of a small 8-part miniseries in a long time. I craved many more episodes of this gripping, fulfilling, and hilariously funny legal drama.

Lawyers are considered bottom feeders until they achieve a certain prestige level, at which point all their judicial and legal sins are forgiven. Classism is alive and well in the legal profession too, and this show brilliantly illustrates that. The cases shown here are real and tangible, thorny turns of the road that have remained unresolved for decades. The episodes highlight real human drama and tragedy and the cost of justice denied through delay.

The characters are incredible. Ravi Kishan is the massive planet Jupiter around which the entire show revolves, and he executes this role with gravitas and finesse. This is a lawyer on the cusp of greatness, and he must choose his road. Naila Grewal represents the selfless, idealistic newcomer who still believes in the legal system and is unwilling to bend the rules in a broken system. Nidhi Bisht is the firecracker in the barn, the shameless, fearless lady lawyer who will go to any length to build her unrecognized career. Each knocks it out of the courtroom.

There must be an adjournment to the second season.

It's special and connecting.
tathagatvivaw7 March 2024
I have never rated any movie or series in my entire life. But came here specially for this series. Ravi kishan, you underrated beauty. Apki performance yaad rahegi.

Nidhi Bisht, Naila Grewal and Tanvi azmi ji powerful performance.

Anant joshi ji I would love to see your performance in an action thriller. You have a great actor in your waiting for power packed roles.

At first I thought it was going to be a copied version of 'Suits' but no, it's as original as it can get.

Amazing comics timing, raw emotions, subtle imitation of system's problems and powerful message to the audience, it has everything.

deepmavani-108064 March 2024
Ye sirf coat ke kaale hai dil ke nahi.

Perfectly directed. Actors who played characters were so genuine. Series described legal and funny incident (based on true notes), comes with totaly new concept, good acting and directing all the incidents are nearly perfect. It's feels good to know such type of comedy & experimental content still produced when public just want to watch mass-masala.

Series turn around a lawyer who want to achieve state bar president post and in this journey there is rivalry, comedy, emotions, struggle and some life lessons too. Saurabh khanna who is writter of this series again comes with amazing concept after hostel daze and kota factory.

poorly written and executed.
mehulmanot-319274 March 2024
As an advocate, I was hoping it to be a good watch, bit it's an absolute idiotic series. In multiple episodes, they're fighting animals in court. They didn't even care to make it sensible and humour was way off.

Ravi kishan was terrific in laapata ladies, but fails to impress in this series. He could have done much better under a better director with a sincere script.

Rahul pandey seemed likeable once again but he didn't get much screentime.

And for the nth time, using abusive language doesn't make a scene funny. Learn from the makers of mirzapur or jubilee. I wonder how netflix india manages to choose all the worse series time and again.

After such a long time..
agarwalsanjay-807404 March 2024
Such a funny, quirky and smooth series after such a long time.

Very few series have the capability of being both funny and have a good story.

In India mostly the series are unnecessarily over stretched and cliff hanger to incorpate the bollywood-cliche This series is entirely different from that with each episode having a great story and self satisfying. Yet in the end what a strong message and connection.

Brilliant acting by all the cast specially Ravi Kishan and Nidhi Bisht. Not very popular actors but yet such super acting.

Everything transformed into such a smooth and satisfying series.

A must watch!!

What a show.....

I really wish they make a season 2 for the show. Want to see VD taygi's journey as a judge. Every character is unique & has a lovely story. The show left me hungry for more. Not even a single moment was dull. The show is an absolute gem of a comedy law series that combines sharp wit, clever writing, and stellar performances to create an uproarious and unforgettable viewing experience. Set within the chaotic world of a bustling courtrooms the show follows the misadventures of a group of eccentric lawyers as they navigate the absurdities of the legal system while trying to keep their sanity intact.

Totally made my Sunday so much more beautiful Hats off to Ravi Kishan for sheer briliance in acting and performance. Each. Character contributed equally to satirical court comedy.

Cherry on the top was references from true incidents.

Such a fantastic work from the team, bollywood should take inspiration from such great content.

Thank you Netflix india for bringing such refreshing content.

Such a stress reliever, light hearted content, greatly appreciate the team.

Please Please make season 2, much awaited!!!

Feel good series amazing comedy and direction

If you want a nice family drama series that has good twists and thrill with a comic view then this is a must watch 10/10. One of my favourite Bollywood series, I had to watch it all within one day because it had me hooked. I had an amazing laugh and also some intelligent emotional parts that make you think about life and appreciate everything. I would recommend this for anyone if you are on the edge to watch it then definitely watch it now! The direction was amazing, even though it's a court room drama the hollistic view is spectacular. Shows you the gritty side of what lawyers have to go through in India.

Simply amazing
prabhatkumar-194913 March 2024
It's been long to see such story where emotion is simple but intense.

Scenes don't have to be too perfect to leave a perfect mark.

A plain story of each episode shows the problems lies within a judiciary system which is faced by every one and how it can also be rectified by taking a proactive approach from every one involved.

Not to forget the comic moments in each episode and utilising every small bits wherever possible to make us laugh.

I can only say that a strong story is conveyed in such simple, precise and impactful impressions which actually make one understand that the importance of justice can either be complex or simple if it's taken a little human touch.

Kudos to the writers and each characters who portrayed their role so beautifully.
