Clayton Danvers : Missed you, too.
Elena Michaels : Are you the welcoming committee? Or did Jeremy finally chain you up at the front gate where you belong?
Clayton Danvers : [as she pulls her luggage away from his grasp] Easy. I just want to help with the bag.
Elena Michaels : It's fine. I've got it.
[walks on icily without looking back at him]

Clayton Danvers : I guess what I'm saying is, uh... you look good.
Elena Michaels : [matter-of-factly] I clean up pretty well when I'm human. Where's Jeremy?
Clayton Danvers : He's not here. Elena, you should eat something, you must be starving.
Elena Michaels : [impatiently] Where is he?
[goes down corridor, Clay following her]
Elena Michaels : He's running.
Clayton Danvers : Elena...
Elena Michaels : Look, I'm not here to talk or to catch up or whatever else you had in mind. I'm here because a wolf needs to be tracked. And it was clear everyone else was gonna keep pressuring me until I came back.
Clayton Danvers : Everyone?
Elena Michaels : I just want this done so I can leave. The sooner Jeremy knows that I'm here, the faster I can start tracking the killer. I'm not here for us.
Clayton Danvers : Clearly.
Elena Michaels : Don't.
[leaves out the back door]

Elena Michaels : Look, just so we're clear, I'll help you track the killer. But once we do, I'm out again.
Jeremy Danvers : We'll start tomorrow, when we're all together.
Elena Michaels : No, I can go now.
Jeremy Danvers : If you go out alone and you find him, he's gonna try to kill you. Are you prepared to kill him?
Elena Michaels : No.
Jeremy Danvers : Then I will send Clay with you.
Elena Michaels : No. I'd rather go with the local psychopath.
Clayton Danvers : [behind them] You forgot, darlin', I am the local psychopath.
Elena Michaels : I'll wait till everyone's here. It's been a long day, I think I'll go unpack.
Jeremy Danvers : [as Elena walks past] Okay.
Clayton Danvers : Everything you need's here, just as you left it.
[Elena just walks past him]
Jeremy Danvers : She came back. It's a start.

Peter Myers : [explaining that Jeremy saved his life] So, yeah, when Jeremy calls, I come back. You know, everything he's doing, is about our survival. Right? About the long game. And, like it or not, you're very much part of that plan.
Elena Michaels : I don't want the warm embrace of the family. After what I did. After killing Jose Carter, all I wanted was out.
Peter Myers : Yeah, well, the support of the pack, the family, this house... without these things, we're bound to fail.
Elena Michaels : Yeah, but with these things, we're bound to kill. I don't ever want to do that again.
Peter Myers : Well, nothing says you have to kill. But you're taking it a step further, you're trying to be human. And that's just as dangerous. You try and push the wolf down, Elena, the wolf won't stay down very long.

Elena Michaels : [woken from erotic dream about Clay] Nick! What are you doing?
[he's on bed next to her]
Nick Sorrentino : I'm here to wake you up. And to tell you that you look... amazing.
Elena Michaels : I look the same, Nick. Same as I did a year ago, pretty much the same as I did five years ago.
Nick Sorrentino : See, it's not all a curse being one of us. Prolonged youth. Now, there's some silver lining, right?
Elena Michaels : Yeah, but that just means that when we're old, we're old for that much longer.
Nick Sorrentino : Can't you just take the compliment?
Elena Michaels : Or what?
Nick Sorrentino : Wouldn't you like to know.
Elena Michaels : [playfully] Wouldn't you like to try.
Nick Sorrentino : [sighs] It's too bad we can't blow off steam with a run, huh?
Elena Michaels : Ah, I wish we could. It's been so long since I've been able to run freely.
[a bell chimes]
Elena Michaels : Breakfast is served?
Nick Sorrentino : Yeah, Dad's been at the grill for the past half-hour. We'd better get going before Peter eats all the bacon.
[he pulls at her covers]
Elena Michaels : [lazily stubborn] No...
Nick Sorrentino : Or I could stay in bed with you all day if you'd prefer.
Elena Michaels : [laughing] Nice try, but no dice. Now, run along, little pup, I have to get dressed.
[light playful shove]
Elena Michaels : Go!
Nick Sorrentino : Little pup?
Elena Michaels : [waving him off] Yeah.
Nick Sorrentino : [air ripe with suggestion] You've seen the bone I can bury.
[she giggles]

Clayton Danvers : [outside her door] You gonna track a mutt in those clothes? Or maybe you're leaving.
Elena Michaels : You can stop with the sentry act. I'm not going anywhere.
Clayton Danvers : No, you were just trying to get out of here as soon as you can.
Elena Michaels : Oh. So now you're eavesdropping.
Clayton Danvers : I didn't hear anything. Was there something to hear?
Elena Michaels : I have people who like to know where I am.
Clayton Danvers : People or person?
Elena Michaels : You can stop digging. It's not as if you care.
Clayton Danvers : Every day for the last year, I fought the urge to find you, to see you.
Elena Michaels : And yet, you've stayed away.
Clayton Danvers : I was under orders from Jeremy.
Elena Michaels : [sarcastic tone] Right. You wouldn't disobey.
[with taunting smile:]
Elena Michaels : It's not in your nature.
[walks away]
Clayton Danvers : And you think you know my nature.
[Elena halts, turns back, pauses to look at him , then continues on her way]

Jeremy Danvers : Jose Carter threatened to expose us. Killing him was the right thing to do. It was the only thing to do.
Elena Michaels : For you, maybe. But for me... I lost my humanity. I tore into him like he was a present.
[shakes her head]
Elena Michaels : A moment later I realized that everything that was here - you, Clay, the ability to run - none of it was worth it... if I had to be that... *thing* again.
Jeremy Danvers : That *thing* is who you are.
Elena Michaels : [shakes her head] No. I wanna be who I am in Toronto. A normal person, not a killer.
Jeremy Danvers : Elena, this is a very different situation. This mutt could kill again.
Elena Michaels : Maybe. And you'll find him, and you'll kill him. And I do not wanna be a part of that.
[long silence]
Elena Michaels : May I go?
[Jeremy nods, and she leaves]
