Not quite Romeo & Juliet
Tweekums30 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Raku Ichijo is the son of the local Yakuza leader but he just wants an ordinary life; unfortunately it will be anything but ordinary. He takes an instant disliking to transfer student Chitoge Kirisaki, referring to her as 'the gorilla woman'… unfortunately for the him she is the daughter of the leader of a group of gangsters who are at war with the Yakuza; this is unfortunate because their two parents want to end the war and feel that the best way to do that will be for Raku and Chitoge to become boyfriend and girlfriend! Neither are too happy but must attempt to keep up the pretence even if it means Raku can't get close to Kosaki Onodera; the girl he really likes. Raku carries a locket around with him; ten years previously he and a girl swore their love but he can't remember anything about her… inevitably it turns out that the girl could be either Kosaki or Chitoge; they both have keys that might fit it but can he bring himself to find out in case the 'wrong' girl's key opens it?! Over the course of the series they get up to the usual antics and eventually it ends up with the school play: 'Romeo and Juliet'… we know who Romeo is but in the end who will be his Juliet.

This series may have a fairly clichéd plot but it is still a lot of fun. Over the course of the series Raku and Chitoge inevitably start to realise that far from hating each other they actually quite like each other… even if it doesn't stop them arguing and right until the end one doesn't know for certain who Raku will end up with. There are plenty of laughs to be had in every episode. Not surprisingly there are visits to the pool and a beach but there isn't too much fan service. The characters are well designed and distinctive and the animation looked pretty good. Over all this was a fun series; in fact it turned out even better than I expected.

These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.

Season 1 was great
direwolf-179863 June 2022
I really enjoyed season one. Unfortunately, season two was a total letdown. A bunch of episodes that were completely unrelated to the main story. More random stuff instead. The kind of things I would expect as extras after the end of the story. Unfortunate, the story has no ending. The end of season two has everything in the same place as the end of season one. It was like the writers lost their ability to progress a story entirely.

A pretty good Rom com anime!
Irishchatter30 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I pretty much like Raku and Chitoge hating each other guts at first because it gave away what their both true personalities are like and the more they got to know each other, the better they are able to get on. At least they honestly did live happily ever after in the manga and had a kid like I ship them so much!

I really loved near the end, the class having to put them together in a Romeo and Juliet play. It really did related to the story with a twist and the fact there was a few embarrassments during the play, this made it even funnier.

I really enjoyed watching this anime, thought it was very hard to find it online but thankfully I managed to get it! ^.^

It never went anywhere
boxingismylifestyle3 January 2019
I'm not a choosy person and will basically watch whatever but I guess I still expected too much. What you'll end up seeing is a constant repetition with minimal plot progression (well except new characters being introduced, but never mind that, they will end up stuck in a loop all the same).

I don't know what audience they were aiming for, but my guess would be younger guys who never once in their life talked to a girl, and would want to watch this show as a substitute of sorts. Can't judge of course, but if you're willing take a piece of advice, go watch some hentai instead, that'd be a better investment of your time.

Love flows slowly in great beauty, but when it comes to Nisekoi sometimes he approaches in a slowly and clumsy way.
isighs271218 October 2014
I don't usually watch anime, but when i do is because i feel attracted to their beautiful visuals. And let me tell you straight away that Nisekoi lacks good storytelling but it compensates that with charismatic characters that are very familiar to anyone who loves Anime and good sections of comedy.

Nisekoi it's about a forced romance between Chitoge Kirisake a beautiful(Like any other character in any other series...) blonde girl from America with Japanese roots and Raku Ichijo. Both are the sons of the most powerful Yakuza family leaders in Japan. Both Yakuza gangs are in war but in an attempt to make peace and stop the war they force each others son / daugther to engage in a relationship.

And that's it. Both Chitoge and Raku doesn't like each other in the beginning but they start to make a good relationship in the process. Most importantly Raku is in love with Onodera Konozaki a beautiful and gentle girl from his class.

And there's a backstory... Raku fell in love with a girl he met in his childhood, he keeps with himself a nice golden lock that works like a necklace, in order to find who is the girl from his childhood both the girl and him should open his lock with a key and discover who is the girl that he fell in love at that time. Because at the moment he doesn't remember how does she even look like, or his name. And as the story continues the possibilities are increasing.

The story isn't very good, the characters are like any other characters you've meet in any other romance anime you've watched but it has a lot of funny moments.

hi!!!
luigikrt30 April 2014
I watch a lot of anime and when I started watching this anime I got really into it I would recommend this anime to anyone that likes mystery and romance. The main Characters are four girls and one boy they all are in love with the same boy and the boy is in love with just one of them but isn't sure if she is the girl he made the promise with 10 years ago. As a child, Raku Ichijo made a secret promise with his childhood sweetheart, keeping a pendant as a memento while his love took the key. He dreams of one day meeting his past love, but years later, reality smashes his hopes when Chitoge Kirisaki accidentally knees him in the face... Though Raku's a normal high schooler, his family heads the notorious yakuza gang the Shuei-Gumi faction! And he's dragged into family affairs when he's forced into a relationship with Chitoge, the daughter of a rival gang's boss! close.

Nisekoi (False Love), Really Interesting
SaptarshiForYou29 August 2017
Today, my milestone is Nisekoi. I just finished the anime yesterday and playing my nerves to write down a review over it. Maybe the genre confused you as it neither totally Romantic nor partially comedian, but it rather gives you a rich feeling about relations, affections, love gloamings e.t.c. I think it is a Romantic Anime with a sweet core of comedy. I, therefore total priority to the story and the screenplay as its flow and streaming is really great and this is one of a kind. If you are a student/Bachelor, just give it a run, i think you will really adhere to it. The Characters are also lovable, each and everyone in its own way. I won't give a remark to it, but to be honest, I can't help mentioning that after watching this, I am being forced by some kind of powers to go through the manga by myself.......

Thanks for all your support and attention that you gave to my review. i think I don't disappointed you.

No ending :(
nadvsart15 February 2021
I really found the story interesting. I usually try and guess whats gonna happen at the end but throughout the show i had no idea, cause once i thought of somthing, the next episode proved it wrong. I would have givin it a 10 but i felt like they dragged the story a bit and it was taking forever to end. When i finally arrived to the last episode i was expecting an actual ending but it ended on a cliff hanger. If you dont mind it ending on a cliff hanger and then reading the manga to know the answer i think this is quite interesting :)

I did my best to not spoil it :)

Should've been a love triangle
jazzydonald-909586 April 2021
First of all, the anime should've chosen either the key and lock or the arranged marriage plot device. Doing both just made the whole story clunky. Second, It would've been better if it was just a love triangle between Raku, Chitoge, and Marika instead of a harem. Both Chitoge and Marika were strong-willed, stubborn, and refuse to accept defeat. So them aggressively competing with dense-as-hell Raku in the middle of the chaos would've been more fun and compelling to watch. I'd also want Marika to be the childhood friend with the key to the lock instead of Onodera. I don't hate her; I just found her boring compared to all the other love interests. Every joke and subplot that revolved around Onodera was the same, and her constant failed confessions were repetitive and annoying. Plus, she really had nothing going for her in the harem apart from being nice, pretty, and Raku's childhood friend. What made Marika's love for Raku more interesting was that her dad was the police commissioner. Imagine how interesting it would've been to have a love triangle with the daughter of a gang leader and the daughter of the police commissioner. The story's overarching conflict could've been Raku choosing between uniting the two rival gangs or creating peace between his father's gang and the police department. Overall the story was fine. If you like harems, you'll like this. I just wish the story were better.

Amazing
bigdawgg-3552819 December 2021
A show with a heart warming approach which leaves a lot of cliff-hangers. Despite that, not only is it funny but every time you think the plot couldn't get any better or interesting, they add a new flavor to the already delicious ice cream. 10/10.

Clichéd comedy for perverts
Lomedin10 February 2016
I hate harem. I started to watch this thinking that it was going to be a romantic comedy. This is rather a sex comedy.

Basically, the star of the show, attached to a huge pendant which seems incredibly painful to wear around the neck unless it's made of some cheap, light material (that doesn't explain why it can resist all sort of battering), is really the only male character in the series, apart from a friend of his, who doesn't even have much of a role anyway. More and more female characters are thrown in the show, up to a ridiculous amount of 9 or so (so far!). Interestingly, although they are in their 15s, they seem to have huge breasts. And, guess what, most of them are attracted to the guy.

Honestly, talk about male-focused perversions.

OK, I found the anime to have a few very funny moments, although they were not related to the sex comedy (they could turn down a notch the whole sexual innuendo, btw). In fact, the anime also have a few sweet moments, which happen when it centers on individual characters' relationships with the male, particularly Onodera, rather than having anything to do with the whole hentai polygamy stuff.

A lot of the series is based on extremely predictable moments and clichéd situations almost copied from other harem anime.

The drawing is mostly good or very good, although strangely, as it happens in many other anime, the quality goes down quite a bit sometimes.

Season 2 doesn't really add much to the plot (except for more female characters, of course), and the anime seems to just be dragging on.

A 3rd season is neither announced nor confirmed yet. I find hard to believe that this series will reach any credible finale, though, with so many girls interested in the guy and all that. Another let down of these harem anime.

no ending
shamc-8664025 December 2021
They make the base very well and romantic but finish before end.

They had 36 eps but did not end properly or end at all .

Why they did not make the rest and season 3.

Just wasting time.

I don't recommend it to anyone.

Terrible 2nd season
FitLZD18 September 2021
First season was light, fun, and had decent character development and plot progression.

Second season was fun but full of unnecessary filler episodes that should not have been part of a regular season. They needed at least another 20-something-episode season to wrap things up after the season two they gave us.

But oh yes-the best part-no season 3 and no resolution. Fun.
