This marks the first time someone is shown dying from Joker venom.
The Joker's line about "rich Corinthian leather" while in Lex Luthor's limousine is a reference to a series of TV commercials for Chrysler automobiles in the 1970s in which actor Ricardo Montalban popularized the phrase.
In the opening scene, the music used for the Jack in the Box is the same music associated with The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series (1992).
The title of the episode is taken from the long-running DC comic book series, "World's Finest Comics." It was originally an anthology series with Superman and Batman in separate stories, but when the series' page count was reduced over its run, the characters were brought together as a regular team-up feature story.
The Joker said that Lex Luthor would be Mr. Clean, a reference to the mascot for the product of the same name. Mr. Clean is also completely bald.
