Very Dark With a Big Twist
larrys324 August 2019
As I see it, this movie is only for those that like very dark movies.

Seven men gather to play a game where they will put up $5,000 apiece and be judged in several categories as to their "success" and methods in seducing a particular woman of their choosing. Of course as you might expect, the misogyny and treatment of women as objects will be sky high.

However, when the game is over the dark consequences of their actions will be felt in various forms, including mayhem and even murder. The big twist at the end was quite clever and I didn't see it coming at all.

Overall, the film written and directed by Phil Leirness, has an air of sensuality throughout, as the women of the cast are exceptionally gorgeous and seductive. But the subject matter was very uncomfortable for me to watch, with the men being so despicable. The way it all played out in the end, though, I imagine you could say was poetic justice.

The lady Killers, an intelligent dark comedy.

In an era of unoriginality in film making once in a while you come across a gem. a perfection in film making and story telling. In this dark comedy a group of college buddies attempt to rekindle a game of exploitation and debauchery for likes we have never seen before. It shows the ludacris attempts to seduce women all for the sake of ranking with friends they really aren't that connected to I the first place. The movie shows the differences in communication between men and women, men work against each other attempting to hinder each other while the women are all plotting together undenounced to the men. But when the tables turn that corner is when sparks really fly and you find out what's really going on. This a must see or must own if you so chose. It really gives people a lot to think about.

Perhaps the most unique and fascinating film I ever seen

The Lady Killers (2017) is an extremely dark comedy that is really quite unlike any other film I have ever seen. It was definitely made from whole cloth. The story involves a group of seven men who participate in a game where women are used with sexual abandon as things to exploit. Director/writer Phil Leirness also plays one of the seven men. Although all of the men are detestable due to their toxic behavior, writer Leirness gives each character their own unique shadings. These men are all the same, and yet, all different. These characters are not likable in the least and yet, they are fascinating. I can smugly say that I am not like any of these characters. Yet, I must confess that I have known people that were very much like these characters, so don't tell me that they are unbelievable. Unfortunately, they are VERY believable. Unlikeable characters however do not an unlikeable film make. I have seen this film twice and I'm looking forward to my next viewing. My wife was reluctant to view this film. The disturbing subject matter raked up long dormant memories. Although hesitant, she was persuaded to view the film. Much to her surprise, she liked it very much. This is NOT a feel-good movie...but it IS a good movie. If you're looking for a movie to have on in the background while you're playing with the dog or preparing your taxes, I suggest you look elsewhere. This film requires, nay DEMANDS your full attention. If you're willing to give it, you will be rewarded handsomely.
