- In the town of Cedar Cove, the lighthouse is not only a historic landmark but a symbol of hope for so many of the residents. When property developer Warren Saget plans to demolish the lighthouse, the entire township tries everything in their power to put a stop to those plans which includes bringing their fight into Judge Olivia Lockhart's courtroom.—Greensteam
- Olivia's best friend, librarian Grace Sherman, returns to Cedar Cove earlier than expected from her vacation, as she needs a shoulder to cry on about being served divorce papers. But Grace is equally as intrigued about the recent goings-on in Olivia's life, namely why she turned down the federal judgeship, and if Jack had anything to do with that decision. Justine and Warren argue somewhat about who was the one who broke up with who. Regardless, it may be perfect timing for Justine for two reasons. First, Seth has returned to town, he who would like to start things up with Justine again. And second, Warren has just become the most unpopular man in town. After trying to sell the property in question for two years, Warren has instead decided to tear down the town's beloved lighthouse, and develop the property. The town as a collective is outraged, with Bob Beldon, the owner/operator of the Thyme & Tide B&B, leading the charge to stop what Warren is planning on doing. As he is unable to convince Warren not to tear it down, Bob ultimately takes the matter to court by filing an injunction to stop the demolition during which time he hopes to have the lighthouse deemed a structure of historical importance. However, after reviewing the materials, Olivia, the ruling judge, reluctantly sides with Warren, which also places her in a bad light within Cedar Cove. Olivia has to try and find a legal way to help the town save the lighthouse.—Huggo
