For Mthabisi Mlauzee, his film is a social comentary on cancel culture. Being the director of Swine, he has right, no doubts.
But, for me, a middle age Eastern european, the message is more simple - the past as only reality. An ex-covinct is accepted for work at a swine farm. You feel the end seeing the close up on animals . A young woman as mentor, a pleasant evening together and ignore of one of interdictions, her revenge.
And a film almost religious because its subject is redeption .
Beautiful cinematography and inspired craft of story. Fair remind of the demons in pigs from Matthew 8:28- 34 . And fair performances especially Harry Clark, Sophie Jane Corner proposing a decent sketch of her character.
