- Mango is based on the true story of a boy called Manuel. The film portrays the young boys life from birth to the age of fifteen. Manuel grew up on the streets of Colombia and eventually, and by coincidence, ended up being adopted by a Norwegian family. The contrasts in Manuels life, driven by fate and chance, are portrayed in a sensitive and moving fashion. The film carries a message to all in the world who take their good fortune for granted.
Fate would have it, that Manuel was adopted by a Norwegian family and all because the child they were meant to adopt became ill and they chose him
The values and morals of the world today are steered by Capitalism and in the consumer market, money means more than strength of character everything and everyone can be bought. The young people of today are mostly concerned with their own selfishness, and demand the best products and services they feel they need. Their self-worth is based on their outward appearance instead of getting to know who they really are and being their own person. They watch reality TV as voyeurs, looking at others sexual exploits, or spend their time gossiping negatively about others to strengthen their own self-image. All this is openly supported by parents who do not want their own children to be any worse-off than the neighbours offspring. The result is young people with poor morals and superficial values who, in the worst case scenario, meet serious problems the day the money runs out.
In memory of live lost to bulling.
