After Chhatrapati Shivaji's death, Chhatrapati Sambhaji leads Marathas. Bahadur Khan, Subhedar of Burhanpur, with Kakar Khan, levies Jizya tax on people. Sambhaji raids city, saving people from unjust rule.

After the demise of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Young Chhatrapati Sambhaji held the reigns of the Maratha empire. The city of Burhanpur held a special significance for Aurangzeb, who wanted to turn it into the capital city of the south. To achieve this goal, he appointed Bahadur Khan as the Subhedar of Burhanpur. Bahadur Khan; with the help of his chief Kakar Khan, levied Jizya tax on the residents of the city, and made their life miserable.
