I was expecting so much more.

PC Jo Marshall is on duty when a heavy flood devastates a small community, pregnant, Jo helps when a baby falls into the flood water, and is later called when the body of a man is found in a lift.

It's a so so first episode, I was seriously looking forward to it, it's very watchable and imaginative, but ultimately I found it a little disappointing. The main question, Whodunnit.

The story is very imaginative, and some of the visuals, the flood for example look rather good, some however, like the baby, looked a bit dodgy.

I think the script was the major issue, some of the dialogue was woeful, very soap like, and some of the attitudes shown, are a bit dated.

What I'm struggling with, is why is Jo so obsessed with lift man, you'd think her priorities would be ver pregnancy.

Sophie Rundle and Lorraine Ashbourne are both rather good.

6/10.

It sounded better on paper

Well we areoff to a mediocre start. A fake baby, drowning (or not) in a fake flood. I am 100% certain that any other natural disaster could have worked here. It would have been better and only 3 minutes of "oh my gosh the earth is dying" drama and not what felt like three hours.

I am not saying toss a real baby into the "stormy water" but at least make it more realistic. I doubt that a screaming baby would be perfectly still, calm and almost bone dry when tossed in the water... Its face would be red with screaming covered in snotties and all other things.

When making budget series, dont skimp on details, dont skimp on a proper and plausible story.

This story was written in one night after a barbecue on the beach after someone said something about an overflowing toilet at home...

I doubt that i will even watch episode 2.

Warning: Spoilers
There is a flood in a northern town. Jo Marshall (Sophie Rundle) is a heavily pregnant policewoman and soon to be training as a detective. Her husband is also a detective.

It's been a tough day for Jo. A random man jumped in to save a baby on peril. He managed to pass the baby to Jo but was carried away by the force of the waters.

Later in the evening her house is taken over by her sister in law's family as they cannot stay in their own home due to the flood.

Then a man is found dead in a lift believed to have drowned. Only forensics tell her that he had died a few days earlier, before the flood.

With the identity of the dead man unknown and dental checks could take months. Jo sends the dead man's DNA to be traced to an ancestry testing site. Which is in breach of police protocols.

An interesting beginning ended up soggy by the end. Apart from lady who carelessly takes her baby's car seat out in floodwater. The results of the DNA test arrive almost immediately. A flustered Jo then suddenly talking to a lady in France, the dead man's sister. The first episode ended up on a risible note.
