"Thank You" - Johanna

Season 3, Episode 8, The Fairy Isle -- 10/10

I have never watched something so ridiculously good that after, - near midnight - everything around me just went silent for a couple minutes.

Pretty much had no thoughts during that period, felt like i was tripping. Also cried a lot.

10/10 season, 10/10 Episode.

REALLY big props to whoever came up with this FANTASTIC ending (and entire season) on the spot. Luke Pearson stated that The Mountain King would have worked as a perfect ending for Hilda - and that Netflix could have dropped the show at any moment, instead they pulled through; and it worked.

Thank you, Hilda. What an emotional roller coaster of an episode. Best Hilda episode ever.

Warning: Spoilers
This was and still is an amazing show, (although HIGHLY underrated).

Just finished S3 today...I loved it.

Oh my gosh, Hilda's a fairy! Emphasis on the "part," though.

All of the interactions at the end of the episode are so well put together.

The Great Raven- "what did I miss?" You missed a lot.

I really liked a lot of the cameos, backstories, foreshadowing, scenery, animation, and storyline they put in here.

I wish there could be more, but I guess this is the end.

Farewell, Hilda..

Totally recommend this episode! :) 10/10!

(I would like to know your opinions too!) Farewell, Hilda! :)

Watched with my daughter from the beginning

My daughter and I started watching Hilda when she was 5 and I was 38. Being a single father I love watching shows like this with her, it really brings true moments. This series, season and episode was wonderful. Bringing the dad was nice. David's voice was shocking but the nod to him growing really pulled it off. I'm glad they didn't make some love story between David and the girls. Shows that regardless of gender we can be friends and that's more than enough.

I'm getting the vibes from that episode that it's over. It's a shame that shows like this don't get more traction, they have so much positivity, love and such a great story. Binged the whole third season today and it was worth it.

If it is over, thank you to all that created it. I've watched seasons one and two over so many times. This series is one of the reasons I still have Netflix.

God speed cast, crew and all that gave this series to the world.

put a trigger warning on this episode

Warning: Spoilers
I cried a little too hard - literal snot started running from my nose and I FELT NUMB.

Johannahs "thank you" is such a light, short line, but it has such a massive impact and moved me A LOT.

The scene where hilda has come back from the isle and her friends are happy to see her... Then the wind blowing over the field, hildas hair blowing in the wind staring over her sick mother ITS SO GOOD.

Can we talk about the soundtrack in this episode???!!? (and the whole season)????!!! Ryan carlson has worked on season 1 and season 2 but he went CRAZY this season.

I started watching hilda when I was 11, I'm 16 now so it is kinda embedded in my childhood.

And I'm so glad it is.

simply the best
Watching MANY cartoons similar to hilda over a very long period of time, I can very confidently say that this might just be the greatest episode ever created across ALL of cartoon.

Going into s3, I thought that nothing could rival "The Deerfox" - another incredible episode... BUT NO, mercury filmworks dropped this episode, and it is insane.

Season 1 is simply nostalgic and perfect, season 2 was a rollercoaster and was just incredible when it released, the movie is beautiful. And the finale is actually PERFECT in every way.

Alot of people are saying that they shouldve included the marra, or included more kaisa and whatnot. What is the finale if we already know what is in it going into it in the first place? If the showwriters included everything we wanted then - as hilda says - "nothing will ever be new for us", and i really like that quote.

An amazing series finale to an adventurous, fantastic and heartwarming kids' show!

After watching the last 2 episodes as a double-feature here's my spoiler-free review of the Hilda finale; Chapter 8: The Fairy Isle! As usual, I'll be talking about my thoughts, my favourite moments from the beginning, middle & end and my conclusion/rating! Bella Ramsey is a brilliant actress, I haven't seen her work in Game of Thrones but I'm very keen, eager, intrigued & interested to watch her performance in The Worst Witch which is like Harry Potter but different! I started watching this during the COVID Crisis and as much as I enjoyed the first season I loved season 2, especially Chapter 9: The Deerfox! Then I started watching the movie Hilda and the Mountain King (which you can check out my spoiler-free review here on IMDb) & finally, there was season 3 that I equally enjoyed as season 2 this final episode wraps up the stories all well together! Overall this was a very fun kids' show to watch and I look forward to seeing what the cast & crew do next! That's why I gave this finale a 9/10! Goodbye Hilda, goodbye my dear :'-(

Justice for Johanna!!!
bm23019918 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
While this was a very beautiful episode I actually felt like it ended the series on a bad note and I felt a little disappointed as a whole based on how Hilda treats Johanna. Throughout the whole show Johanna has risked everything for Hilda and there have been some really tough moments where the two have butted heads because of this. There was even an episode earlier this season where Johanna went all John Mcclane to save Hilda from the river spider. Johanna had been through a lot and we see even more of that in this episode. Therefore, I was actually really annoyed that Hilda wanted her mother to abandon her long-lost parents (who she thought had abandoned her only to learn they sacrificed themselves for her) just so Hilda could go back and be with her friends! Hilda was so incredibly selfish and insensitive and I get she's a child but it was really cruel to give Johanna barely a day with her parents before they go back to just being shadows who lurk around. As the show finished I couldn't help but think "is this really meant to be some comfort for Johanna? That her long lost parents are shadows she can't touch or communicate with in any way?". I have no idea why the writers didn't just create a way for Johanna's parents to come back so they could be together. Now the whole season just seems sad and depressed because all I can think of is the final scene of Johanna sitting on the wall looking a little sad while Hilda is off having tons of fun. Kids should come first but give her mum a bone at least!
