The penultimate episode ramps up the absurdities.
The show also remembers that it needs to find the killer of Sazz Pataki.
Charles, Mabel and Oliver need to get to Glen Stubbins who is at the hospital. Maybe he knows the identity of Sazz's protege. The one who worked with Sazz as a stunt person in a movie directed by Ron Howard.
Only Glenn is too ill to see people. That leaves Ron Howard who is making his latest movie. So they end up being extras but Oliver and Charles end up bickering over Oliver's bachelor party.
Eventually they learn that some sort of mishap happened to the stunt person on the set of the Ron Howard movie.
This has been an uneven season, this was a strong but wayward episode. Mainly for the humour.
The episode ends with the reveal. I somehow felt underwhelmed when we see the murderer.

I am a fan of the series and have diligently watched all episodes from Season. It started going downhill from Season 3 and now is in the ditch.
You don't stuff dozens of actors in, without a credible storyline and hope it will work out. The feedback from Season 3 should have fairly warned you not to bring Paul Rudd back. His overacting is in epic proprotions here and I never thought I would hate to see him on screen(loved him in Antman ..).
You want to show the struggles of stunt actors then don't do just one episode and go back to handle your huge cast. What is the value the entire set of new actors are bringing in other than prolong the confusion and convoluted script? Why was the Melissa McCarthy episode even needed in the first place? Oh she's funny so just add her skit to the story!
Again where is Arconia in the show? Season 1 and 2 were brilliant because of the way the story gels with NY and the beautiful building.
In all this mess, why is Selena Gomez not getting any character development at all. Season 3 she barely had any scenes now all she does is grouch and mumble some lines. What happened to her artistic work which was phenomenal in first 2 seasons? I am tired of Martin Short and Steve Martin hog all the key scenes. And I want to see a proper story not the entire Hollywood cast. Please bring back Selena's gf from earlier seasons and show the artist in her character.

Hollywood. Either find an Irish person or find an actor who can approach the accent with some care. For Christ's sake, it's not even integral to the character it's just there for a cheap no-laugh. I'm typing this to avoid the dreadful hospital corridor scene. The nurse isn't even Irish and has a dreadful accent. Not okay, not cool, not funny.
I'm now contractually obliged to write another 200 words such that this review can be posted. This 1 has been given for a dreadful creative choice within a show that generally swings and hits. Last season with the beautiful musical numbers, wonderful.
I would say I'm not angry, I'm disappointed...but I'm both.

"Escape from Planet Klongo" is a strong penultimate chapter for season four. Apart from featuring plenty of laughs as per usual, this episode shines a brighter spotlight on the friendship between Charles and Oliver, motion-capture spandex and all. If I've had one issue with this season, it's that Mabel doesn't seem to have much of her own story. I do hope the finale gives her a bit more to work with or at least set up going forward. Even so, however, it was nice to see Jane Lynch given a slightly bigger role in a string of flashbacks, and the surprise guest star toward the end does not disappoint. On the whole, "Planet Klongo" is another delightful installment that sets up the finale with a truly suspenseful cliffhanger.
