Maybe wanted to be a good movie. Fell WAY short...

Warning: Spoilers
I was going to review this film for my YouTube channel, From Zen to Zombies, but being as it's not worth doing so, I think I'll just stick to warning everyone, on here.

Want the truth? This movie is about telling the truth and believe me, the truth of this abysmal time waster is NOT pretty.

Going by the title The Virus on Amazon Prime, just a change in title from one platform to another is enough to turn most people off, but, in case someone is as diligent as I am and insists on tracking down this train wreck of a film, here's why you shouldn't waste your time.

BAD acting. One of the actors was so stiff and unrealistic, you could have taken him surfing, all but a couple of the others were just awful.

I'm not sure whether the film got better or worse once William McNamara was killed off.

I realize this is an Indie film and not MGM...but...dang.

Great plot line...stupid story...badly, badly executed.

Add the terrible acting to an already confusing and hole ridden landscape or a film and you've got one heck of a time wasting disaster.

The only cool thing about this movie was the old hospital, which looked like an abandoned school out in the middle of nowhere.

No matter what title you find this film under, when you do find it...unfind it.

You'll be much happier not watching it and just leaving it at that.

Trust me...

Nobody lives forever

Warning: Spoilers
The film opens with a lengthy explanatory monotone about a truth serum virus that mutates and must be contained...or else people act out their "Impulse" 1984-Meg Tilly-a film theme that has become recently popular. A college professor (William McNamara) notices the same cloud cover over a place that was there years ago (Is there an app that checks that?) He thinks something is being hidden there and it is not Dick Cheney's house. The crew goes to the remote access location by foot....okay you fill in blanks.

I felt the monologue explanation should have been left out. What happened is explained within the film and a little mystery is good. This one didn't have it, and they could of had it. The acting and dialogue are on par with low budget productions. The truth serum aspect was not as good as "Liar, Liar." They needed a funny guy in the group.

No swearing or nudity. Brief sex scene.

Not bad, not good either

It tries to be a great movie and it has a decent enough premise, but it falls short on many levels. The acting is better than some movies, and the cast do there best but the writing leaves a lot to be desired and the words often seem forced. Direction is fine, some decent shots. The plot could have been much better but the opening exposition and even the scene with the "military" doesn't do the movie any favours.

Crap. That's it. This movie is garbage. I found it on Tubi under the title The Virus. Very confusing and hard to follow. Skip this one.

Typical indie fare
Leofwine_draca17 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
THE VIRUS is a typical low budget indie horror flick from America. The protagonists are a bunch of film students who head off to a remote and abandoned installation with their professor in tow. They soon discover that the deadly virus located within is still very much alive and soon working its way through them. One by one they succumb to the gruesome disease while attempting to discover a way out of the situation. The whole film plays out in a typical fashion without a moment's originality. The visuals are grim and greyed-out but hey, it's not the worst you'll see.

Good idea for a movie, not as good presentation of that idea.

Great idea for a movie - horrible execution. I get that it is on a shoestring budget and probably on a short deadline, but when "actors" read lines with the same compassion as they read a phonebook from 1955, it is up to the director to guide, lead and take the scene again until it sounds right. None of that seems to be the case here. The tempo of the movie is also really bad. Long unnecessary scenes just to stretch the movie a bit longer, makes nobody happy. There was a clear opportunity just to add a couple of subplots in the middle, just to add to the school kids doing school kids stuff. The ones that were there, did nothing to add to the story. Perhaps work with a better director/writer - and sell the idea to a big studio ?

aka The Virus 2017 on Amazon Prime
spoken18 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Well, I'm confused. The movie, on its own, is fine if watched without any need for details of reason.

A virus kills everyone it infects while making the victim tell only the truth. So why did the nano-tech company develop it? The movie does not really make that clear, so you have to read about it on IMDb. Only then does it make any kind of sense.

Now here's one for ya ... IMDb has two people going by Johnny Tabor and Jon Tabor, with credits very different from each other. Yet both men are listed as doing the same character in this movie. And now, with the boards gone, there's no easy way to call anyone's attention to this stuff.

I'm throwing up my hands and walking away.
