Hideous

The Tuohy family should write a book, entitled "no good deed goes unpunished". It was absolutely nauseating to find out how the kindness of the Tuohy family has been spun. The Tuohy family were talking about is an incredibly wealthy family and to suggest that they took Michael Oher In for financial gain is offensive to the intellect of any thinking person.

If this hogwash does anything, it will prevent people from moving forward in a kind way, like the Tuohy's did, for fear that they are going to be accused at a later date, of acting out of a selfish motivation. Michael Oher and the people that made this documentary should be ashamed of themselves.

Still sponging of M Oher
spence-1944228 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A bunch of (not poor) folks making money off M Oher.

Where to start: The end credits state - "Tuohy family declined to comment". Then" Michael O declined to comment because of active litigation". BOTH parties are involved in litigation but you only sited Michael - very deceptive.

Nobody had a crystal ball so the inference that the tuohys were making an investment is deceptive (again) Sean T owned a bunch of fast food restaurants he didn't need any money, the inference that they used MO to get rich is deceptive (again).

Maybe they suffered white guilt and participated in the white savior complex but I doubt it was the first thing in there minds. They saw a poor kid who (obviously to them) could do better with a little help. They gave the help - he did better.

There is no doubt Oher would have never made it to the NFL on the lifes trajectory he was on - it wasn't gonna happen. Anyone with any sense knows the greatest H. S. prospects can absolutely bomb in the NFL - there are NO guarantees.

Oher is (maybe was, now) on a book tour (another book) and has succumb to the fashionable racist troupes. Enough said on that.

Oher also refused to accept the money (which was placed in a trust) in order to give him legal leverage in court.

Oher says we was motivated as a child and knew football.

He missed so much school most educators didn't even know who or where he was. The H. S. scout said Oher didn't even know how to shake hands. He barely spoke and didn't seem educated in the least.

This is another attempt to make money off the Michael Oher story pathetic.

It is telling that even Oher had no comment for the people making this film. - oh that's right he's involved in litigation.

Two sides to every story

People angry about this movie need to actually watch it first. I bet most of the negative reviews are from people who didn't even watch it. I think it is really about how Hollywood likes a certain kind of story and how easily we will all buy into that narrative. I do believe the Touhys took him in out of goodness in their hearts. But I also think they got caught up in the media frenzy and lost sight of those true intentions. They chose to go along and not to speak up when asked about the accuracy of the story. They let Michael be portrayed as a childlike simpleton when he could certainly read and write and was already an accomplished football player. Imagine seeing your life story and they show you taking a test but unable to do anything but draw a toddler level picture of a sailboat. That must be hurtful. Imagine seeing yourself get adopted on screen but in reality it didn't happen. He did feel like family but they shouldn't have let that lie be perpetuated. The conservatorship was probably well intended but unnecessary. I think this doc is about how Michael didn't have enough voice in his own story and this just sheds some light on some important details.
