Clandestino

Mallorcan socialite Brandi Fuster is stabbed and killed in broad day light, right in front of her sister in law. Sadio Cisse, and African immigrant, a Mantero is pointed out as the killer, who then runs off.

What a terrific start, the opening sequences are terrific, and set the tone for the rest of the episode, which is fast paced and exciting. Perhaps not too difficult to work out whodunnit, but there's so much here to keep you entertained.

I've always loved this show, but it's definitely gone up a notch, it's lost that daytime vibe, it's now a much more slick drama series. That scene where the Detective duo are menaced by the tattooed guys, that was chilling. Loved that guy's tattoos by the way.

The rooftop chase sequences were tremendous, they looked so authentic, very well staged.

I love that Max is eating in almost every scene, although caviar pizza sounds gross.

Manteros are very prominent in Mallorca, great for sunglasses and t shirts, known in these parts as the looky looky men, those guys move like lightning at the sight of the authorities.

Loved it.

I think this show is great if a bit silly. The big problem is that during this episode you will get confused as to what is going on with the overall story arc (no spoilers but it will be obvious). I would recommend watching episode 3 first then it will make more sense.

This episode despite having the above flaw was very watchable, is gloriously shot and contains some great running around. The denouement is interesting. There are plenty of clues around to help us solve the crime with our loveable detectives. I hope that we will get a Series 4 because this is a nice show. Nothing too violent but enough peril to keep up on the edge of our seats.

Manteros are immigrant groups from Africa. You would find them in tourist spots in southern europe. Selling anything from counterfeit football shirts, knock off perfume to african arts and crafts.

They soon flee when a look out shouts that the cops are about.

It starts off with some parkour as Sadio Cisse flees Max and Miranda. He is the main suspect when socialite Brandi Fuster is fatally stabbed for the contents of her handbag at a charity function.

It looks like an open and shut case. The Fuster are a wealthy family and big benefactors to charitable causes.

When they speak to young Flash, another of the Manteros. Max is convinced that Sadio is a convenient scapegoat.

Both delve into just how the Fuster's manage to become the wealthiest of all the families in Mallorca.

An interesting angle but it was obvious just who might be responsible for Brandi's death. Some good chemistry between Max and Miranda. The series does look gorgeous on 4k. This one needed more mystery. It is no longer an afternoon show on the BBC.

This episode was 40 minutes of chase scenes and a mystery Scooby doo could solve while high. The female character continues to be "deliberately" obtuse which, when the mysteries are this easy, just comes off as dumb. I'm pretty disappointed, I'd really been hoping for some character growth, it's been 3 seasons and the difference between her and S1 is mathematically Zero. The police chief or whatever is a joke. Always yelling, harassed by her superiors...OMG like a live action cartoon.

It's disappointing. The location is beautiful. Max is charming, funny and a pretty decent detective. Everything else feels like an anchor.
