To begin on a personal note, I’m a big fan of supporting actors that progress to being leading men in their own right. Kwak Do-wan, Lee Sung-min, Yoo Hae-jin and Sung Dong-il are some names that spring immediately to mind when you think of such South Korean actors. With “Hard Hit”, director Kim Chang-ju’s debut thriller, yet another extremely reliable actor, Jo Woo-jin, makes the same jump in resounding style.

Cutthroat journalism, terror threats, and workplace politics are amongst the issues tackled in “The Terror Live,” a frantic action thriller. Directed by Kim Byung-yoo, whose prior experience includes 2007 indie suspense flick “Written,” his second offering sanitises the urgency and rawness seen prior, but still succeeds in crafting something nonetheless stirring in its inner-conflicts. Consistently in the box office top-ten throughout its cinema stint, this modest budget movie about a man’s desperation to return to the apex of his field is unmistakably worth watching.
After a divorce and being fired from his job as one of the country’s top television news anchors, Joon Yeong-hwa (Ha Jung-woo) finds himself demoted to talk radio. An apathetic presenter for talk-show “Daily Topic,” the middle-aged man goes through the motions whilst taking listener calls, donning casual jumpers and blacked-out sunglasses in his moderately sized studio. Watching his contemporaries on outside monitors,...

"War means business." Cj Entertainment has debuted a new Us teaser to go along with the full Korean trailer for Take Point, a military action thriller from Korean filmmaker Kim Byung-woo. The original title for this film was simply Pmc, meaning Private Military Company, a reference to the group of elite mercenaries hired for a secret CIA mission to abduct North Korea's Armed Forces Minister in an underground bunker below the Korean Demilitarized Zone. The film is actually set in the future, on the day of the Us presidential election in 2024, and is about the fear of starting World War III. Ha Jung-woo (from The Chaser) stars, with Kevin Durand, Jennifer Ehle, Spencer Daniels, Lee Sun-kyun, Robert Curtis Brown, and Malik Yoba. That robot sentry in this looks brutal! Lock & load. Here's the international trailer / Us teaser (+ posters) for Kim Byung-woo's Take Point, from YouTube: On the day of the U.

Ha Jung-woo, one of South Korea’s most bankable superstars, has had a good run in the past few years. While the two “Along With the Gods” films were among the most successful Korean films of all time, his performances in “1987: When the Day Comes”, “The Tunnel” and “The Handmaiden” were universally praised. It’s been a while since he has been in action mode though, but that changes with his next film “Take Point” (called “Pmc” domestically) by director Kim Byung-woo.
Synopsis
Under the tense situation between South Korea and North Korea, hired Pmc (Private Military Company) attempt a daring rescue within an underground bunker.
While the synopsis may seem meagre, the trailers are interesting for their use of mostly English dialogue as well as for their gritty-looking action set-pieces. Director Kim Byung-woo reteams with Ha Jung-woo for his first film since 2013’s “The Terror Live”. “Take Point...

Newly launched Lionsgate India is to remake two high-concept international properties in collaboration with Azure Entertainment and Lionsgate affiliate Globalgate. The two remakes — the first titles under the new partnership — are of hit Mexican comedy “Instructions Not Included” and South Korean action thriller “The Terror Live.”
“Instructions Not Included” (2013) was produced by Lionsgate’s Pantelion Films and became the highest-grossing Spanish-language film in North America. “Instructions” has already been remade in France by Vendome/Mars Films as “Demain Tout Commence,” and is being developed in other territories.
Azure and Globalgate will also produce an Indian version of “The Terror Live,” which was a $36 million hit for Lotte Entertainment in 2013 and is under discussion for multiple other remake deals. Azure and Lionsgate India are currently finalizing the writers and directors for the two projects.
Headed by former Reliance MediaWorks executive Sunir Kheterpal, Azure is backed by The Three Sisters: Institutional Office.
