Fine drama of an unreliable shrink
lor_27 October 2023
Writer-director Mike Quasar has fashioned a gripping story line for this edition of the popular Sweet Sinner series, intertwining the interesting characters' lives more than is usual in the show's vignette structure.

Victoria Voxxx, using voice-over to personalize the story, plays a young therapist who unethically takes advantage of the information given to her by her patients. She feels bad about it by the movie's end, but the story remains unfinished -perhaps to be continued in a sequel.

She plays a dislikable character, established early on by her condescending attitude to her lover Tyler Cruise, who she belittles when chatting on the phone with her friend Freya Parker (who is herself studying to become a therapist). She betrays Freya's confidence to accuse her of incest, and we see that's it true -Freya is carrying on with her new stepdad Tommy Pistol.

More extreme is Voxxx taking her patient Lexi Luna's complaints about her lover Derrick Pierce wanting to have rough sex with her (including BDSM) and acting upon them. She goes to a bar Lexi mentions and picks up Derrick, and has some rough sex with him herself. Lexi finds a photo of VV on Derrick's phone and is shocked, She turns to an old friend of hers, Ryan Driller, for support and has an affair with him.

The acting is quite good here in bringing the soap oepra to life, and the characters behave believably. It's a pleasure to see Sweet Sinner living up to its high standards rather than merely a set of sex vignettes.
