There is a indirect Fifty Shades of Grey reference.

There are several references to BDSM: A female character asks her male co-counsel whether he is into bondage. On another occasion, the same character also implies that she is a masochist.

Violent crimes, such as murder, are frequent themes. Such acts are performed by antagonized characters. Murder victims's corpses are shown and players investigate crime scenes involving blood. Themes of terrorist bombings are also present, however the bombings involved inflict mild-injuries only. Themes of mutilation are also present during episode 5.

An anime cutscene during episode one shows a young child with blood-stains on them, standing in a room filled with blood. Episode two depicts a character discovering a bloody murder scene, in which the large amount of blood and dead victim are all shown. Another cutscene during the same episode depicts a flashback indirectly showing murder and a large pool of spilling blood. Episode 5 depicts a flashback showing a young girl covered in her mother's blood.

"Dammit" is said twice, once during episode four and once during episode five, and "Hell" is said once during episode five, all by the same character. "Bloody hell" is said once during episode two.

One instance involves a last-minute word swap, in which a character seemingly about to say "f***k" actually ends up saying "fudge".

Censored references to profanity comes in the form of a character in the DLC episode who says "son of a..." once, and another character who says "son of a gun" frequently.

Several cutscenes depict terrorist activities, such as bombings, (although no graphic content is shown) as well as traumatic events, such as a little girl crying in court.

One scene depicts a little girl smiling sweetly while covered in her mother's blood, an image that may very well disturb some players.
