The story behind "Mad Heidi" is almost as interesting - if not MORE interesting - than the film itself. The project started more than 3 years ago as the crazy dream of a bunch of Swiss horror/cult film-buffs. The mission: make the first-ever Swiss exploitation movie, preferably as insane and over-the-top as humanly possible. The challenge: they didn't have any money, only a lot of devoted enthusiasm and energy.

What followed is probably one of the most impressive and respectable crowd-funding campaigns in history. Via Internet and various social media channels, the "Mad Heidi" hype slowly but surely increased. Funds were raised via merchandising (you could even buy a cuckoo-clock) and the pre-order DVD sales of a movie that didn't exist yet! The campaign was incredibly successful, and the film was made with more than enough budget for excellent special effects, and even the involvement of a relatively well-known B-actor; - Casper Van Dien.

But then came Covid-19 ... Just like everything else in the world, the release of "Mad Heidi" was put on hold, and the patience of the cast, crew and thousands of co-funders got tested immensely. Now, and finally, the movie had its world-premiere at the Brussels' International Fantastic Film Festival. It was a real party.

Inevitably, the festive ambiance before, during and after the screening of "Mad Heidi" heavily influenced my experience and rating. I'm sorry for that, but it's simply impossible to get euphoric when you are surrounded by hundreds of people yodeling in a theater, wearing fake Swiss Nazi-uniforms, and drinking beer.

Most importantly, though, "Mad Heidi" is exactly what it promised to be ever since the beginning of production; - namely a massively entertaining and absurdly eccentric exploitation movie with copious amounts of splatter, twisted humor, demented characters, self-parody, deliberately dumb quotes and catch-phrases, and non-stop vitality. The tone, style and content of the film isn't new or innovative. The plot is comparable to crowd-pleasing flicks like "Inglourious Bastards" or "Iron Sky", and the script pays tribute to approximately three dozen of cinematic treasures varying from "The Sound of Music" to "Lady Snowblood".

The story is of lesser importance, but it neatly follows the structure of a textbook revenge-thriller. If I tell you Casper Van Dien stars as the tyrannical and megalomaniacal President of Switzerland, and simultaneously CEO of the only authorized company to produce and export cheese, you already know enough. He wants to obtain world-domination via genetically altered cheese, but a heroic girl from the Alps is determined to get revenge for the murder of her boyfriend and the downfall of her beloved Motherland.

Of all the great fun and splendid gimmicks, what I most appreciated is how the makers wonderfully inserted every possible Swiss cliche and national symbol into their film. There's the Matterhorn and cheese bowls in the film-logo already, but everything else you could possibly associate with Switzerland features as well: idyllic mountain paths, Alp horns, cuckoo clocks, cheese fondue, watches, pocket knives, Toblerone chocolate, ... There's so much lunacy and mayhem happening that Heidi's character and her quest for revenge is even pushed to the background sometimes, which is a minor default.

Mad Heidi is a simple revenge story set in a world obsessed with dairy products where the lactose intolerant are shunned, publicly humiliated and even taken away to re-education camps and tortured with cheese. This daft film romps away in its own bewildering world of 'Swissploitation' for an undemanding 90mins and is well produced (particularly considering the means of funding) and features good cinematography and fight choreography with strong performances from Alice Lucy and Rebecca Dyson Smith, as the cruel Lutz. Bizarre, absurd and the most original thing that's been along in a while. 'Rest in cheese, b*tch!'

Mad Heidi is NOT the first Swissploitation movie - but it's quite a good new entry to the genre
helloamazon8 December 2022
It goes without saying that you need to like or at least be familiar with the "exploitation" genre to fully enjoy this movie; a soft spot for "trash" movies like Iron Sky (the first one, not the terrible sequel) and similar "trashy" B-movies also helps.

I however disagree with the authors/directors of Mad Heidi that they single-handedly invented the "Swissploitation" genre in 2022 with Mad Heidi.

Older Swiss movies should take the credit for pioneering this movie niche, for example (my list below is by no means exhaustive):

  • Sommersprossen (1968, German title)
  • L'inconnu de Shandigor (1967, French title)
  • Several early movies by the Swiss director Erwin C. Dietrich, mostly released in the 70s and 80s (to be fair to Mad Heidi, many of Erwin's movies were shot abroad, not in Switzerland)

There are also newer examples like these more extreme Swiss splatter movies:

  • Projekt Fleisch (1999)
  • Nutshot (2019)

Mad Heidi is another good, updated entry to the genre with many nods and references to famous directors like Tarantino or Rodriguez. The two Mad Heidi directors are quite open about this aspect and even list movies that influenced Mad Heidi's story telling and plot, namely:

Machete, From Dusk Till Dawn, Kill Bill (Vol. 2), Danger 5, Lady Snowblood, Heidi (the classic 1937 and 1952 versions, obviously, since Mad Heidi is a trash/horror parody on the original story), Coffy, Foxy Brown...

The movie doesn't take itself too seriously and makes fun of Switzerland and clichés like chocolate, cheese and xenophobia, much like earlier domestic classics such as the comedy Schweizermacher (aka "The SwissMakers" internationally, 1978). The more you know about Swiss cliches, the more you will enjoy the funny details and easter eggs in Mad Heidi.

But rest assured: Even if you are only vaguely familiar with the original Heidi saga/plot and the fact that many Swiss take their cheese seriously you can laugh at most jokes.

The splatter/special effects, the level of detail in many movie props (e.g. The "final boss" Neutralizer) and the performances are quite good; some are even very good - especially considering the tiny budget of just around USD/CHF 3 million (much of the total budget was raised by crowdfunding).

(For a quick comparison: Other genre movies like the trashy Iron Sky II sequel cost six times that amount and are much worse. Starting with a confusing script...but I digress.)

The overarching revenge plot in Mad Heidi is quite simple/predictable. Some critics may dismiss the entire Mad Heidi movie as pure "fan service" - this is however very understandable since much of the budget was raised using crowdfunding methods, as discussed above.

We may even get a sequel one day since the open ending leaves many avenues to explore.

I rate this movie 7/10 cheese wheels. Maybe it's even worth 8/10 if you really like this genre of movies.

PS: In order to reach a broader international audience (and since many foreign actors like genre specialist Casper Van Dien have leading roles) the movie was shot in English, with only a few sentences or words in Swiss German mixed into the dialogue. Surprising at first, but understandable given the global distribution target.

Too cheesy for my liking.
BA_Harrison23 December 2022
Crowdfunded faux-exploitation flick Mad Heidi is intended as a bit of dumb OTT fun. With its endless gags on everything Swiss (especially cheese), it is definitely dumb, but it's not nearly as much fun as I had hoped, the joke quickly wearing thinner than a slice of Emmental. Like Iron Sky (2012), with which it shares a similar vibe, the film suffers from a weak script and bad acting, and it only delivers sporadic gore when it would benefit from pushing the limits further and further with each subsequent scene.

Alice Lucy plays Heidi, who has been living in the Swiss mountains with her grandfather ever since her parents were killed in a rebellion against President Meili (Casper Van Dien) and his Nazi-like regime. When Heidi's boyfriend Goat Peter (Kel Matsena) is killed for trading in illegal cheese, Heidi takes revenge and is jailed as a result. After a daring escape, Heidi throws herself over a waterfall and is presumed dead; however, she survives the plunge, and is trained how to fight back against her oppressors by Swiss goddess Helvetia.

Mad Heidi wears it's exploitation influences on its sleeve - there's Nazis, nuns, dwarfs, a training montage and WIP action (we even get an Asian prisoner who is #701) - but the result lacks the grit and grime of the genuine article, the film's effectiveness further weakened by the puerile comedic elements: there's only so much cheese-based humour I can take.

Hard ... but not impossible
A_Different_Drummer23 December 2022
It is hard to criticize a film which starts off boasting about how it was crowd-funded by the common folk, with no interference from the big corporations or studios. Hard. But not impossible. The first red flag is that the uber-high ratings from the early posted member reviews do not match the ratings left by members who saw the film later, gave much lower ratings, but did not bother to leave a review. The explanation? Mad Heidi is loaded to the brim with raw energy and great expectations. But very little of that actually translates into a movie that anyone would care to waste 90 minutes on. The script seems like to have been written by someone trying to piece together the best parts of Max Max, Monty Python, and every Kung Fu film you have ever seen. The result is supposed to be unique and fresh. Instead it basically re-invents 1960's "experimental cinema," and does not do a very good job even at that. ((Designated "IMDb Top Reviewer." Please check out my list "167+ Nearly-Perfect Movies (with the occasional Anime or TV miniseries) you can/should see again and again (1932 to the present))

Half trashy fun, half boring garbage
Izzy_Z26 December 2022
Sadly, the title says it all. Being a long time fan of campy B-flicks (SyFy and Asylum kind), I was genuinely having fun for the first half of the movie, then grew increasingly disappointed and bored, and finally ended up simply fast forwarding to the end at about three quarters in. I'm not sure how they managed to ruin such a promising start, but have to give credit to them where it's due, they sure did. My guess is it became too serious for its own good, bordering on what one might call woke (where "too serious" is a default lowest setting, never a good thing on its own). Too bad for Casper Van Dien, the hero of oh so many trashy flicks I am such a fan of.

Good trash!
Runemar18 November 2022
Mad Heidi is trash! ... and that's a good thing. The film has a very high quality and thus leaves many other trash films behind. Actors, setting, cinematography - all great! Johannes Hartmann did a great job with the film and created a wonderful (Swiss) ploitation film that is at the forefront of the genre.

If you like Switzerland, you will love all the clichés. Cheese, chocolate or the Swiss army knife are just a few examples.

In terms of acting, Casper Van Dien and Max Rüdlinger stand out in particular. Van Dien plays the slimy "very Swiss leader" with great humor, while Rüdlinger, with his Swiss accent, plays Commander Knorr with exaggerated spite.

The cinematography shows the most beautiful sides of Switzerland, while the action comes along with lots of blood, splatter and killing jokes.

Sadly Not Mad Enough
Tweetienator24 December 2022
Mad Heidi got a few really funny and good scenes (and ideas), and some gore too. But, and that is a big but, the movie is far too long and needs some serious cutting of redundant material. Also, the movie is too tame - the exploitation scenes are too short, the action scenes too few and not brutal enough for that kind of movies. What I liked most are the light-hearted commentaries on movie making, society and zeitgeist that are ridiculed in some of the scenes just fine. So all in all Mad Heidi was an ambivalent experience to me - funny yes, but on the other hand too tame for its own good. If you want to do exploitation you should do it right - with all its cheesy nastiness. To sum it up: the strong suits of Mad Heidi are the elements of comedy, sadly the level of sleaze is too low, those of violence too (at least for my taste). What else? Production is okay, overacting done solid. Conclusion: if you can enjoy such flicks as Nazis at the Center of the Earth or the Iron Sky movies, you may dare to give Mad Heidi your time.

Happy Goats make happy cheese
nogodnomasters10 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The film is a parody of various films. The head of the Meili Cheese corporation becomes the President of Switzerland (Casper Van Dien) and outlaws all cheese except his own. 20 years after he puts down an insurrection we switch to Heidi (Alice Lucy) who lives in the alps and is in love with Goat Peter (Kel Matsena) who makes illegal cheese. He is caught and killed, Heidi is imprisoned. She manages to escape and finds a mountain temple where she trains as a Swiss Ninja. Do I need to go on? I think you get the silly picture. Heidi is like Uma Thurman in "Kill Bill" and there are scenes and lines spoofed from various films. It was a fun romp.

Fun original idea, that didnt turn out into a solid movie
imseeg27 February 2023
The original idea and concept of this movie is hilarious: a swiss fascist leader who has built his empire on cheese and anyone who doesnt eat or like his cheese gets wasted.

The bad: this original idea unfortunately did not translate into a funny comedy, but merely a gimmick. A gimmick doesnt last though. And what's a "comedy" when it aint funny. I didnt laugh once. I smirked now and then. That was all...

More bad: they copied blaxploitation movies from the seventies. Again a fun idea, turned to waste however.

Not any good then? Some of the actors are good. A lot of them arent however.

Politically correct themes are never a good basis for a story, because politically correct movies are boring. And this is one bore of a movie as well...

Nice try, boring result....

I was surprised and had great fun
sczhch29 December 2022
"I work for the industry" is a general term in LA if someone works for the movie industry (been there, done that). This movie originates from no industry. It is handcraftet with tons of love and effort and it reflects throughout the whole movie. I was very surprised. The crew is learning... but did their homework well with great professionalism and it turned out to be great fun to watch the outcome. If you are open for low budget independant movies with a mid budget feel... go see the movie. Will watch it again with friends and a couple of beers. And no, I'm not part of the crew and I'm not a crowdfunder. In general I don't even like the genre. But i've had to write this to add another POV after reading some of the negative comments.

Don't Take It Seriously
gregcaw10 April 2023
I have to admit I had very low expectations going into this; all I knew was it had Casper Van Dien in it so that was enough for me to give it a chance.

I'm glad there is the little disclaimer at the start about how it is crowd-funded and independently made since it is definitely noticeable in terms of the visual fx, and I'm not sure I could notice a consistent accent throughout the film (with Van Dien's changing seemingly each scene), but there is a passion behind it that is noticeable above the flaws.

My one major critique would be there is far too long devoted to Heidi "becoming" Mad Heidi and not near enough time showing her revenge - it was fairly clear from a few minutes in what the ultimate arc of the character would be (however it came about), but to have to wait so long for her to start kickin' ass felt like it delayed the satisfaction too much.

Definitely one to watch on a lazy Sunday evening when you just want a mindless escapism, or, with a friend or two and some snacks and beers.

Unwatchable amateur-hour nonsense.
Top_Dawg_Critic24 December 2022
This was utter cheese, and not the fancy expensive stuff, but the stinky moldy curds you throw away. This tried to be funny, it wasn't, and there was nothing humorous enough to even crack a smirk. The gore effects were better in the 80's. The narrative was boring, dragged out, cliched and predictable. The story had more holes in its plot than Swiss cheese. The poor pacing and long dragged out and unnecessary scenes made the normally comfortable 92 min runtime feel never-ending. Even the fight choreography was laughable, especially when Alice Lucy's character Heidi could barely lift or swing any of the weapons. If you take every bad film ever made in its genres and put them together, you'll get this garbage. This film tried too hard to be an arthouse-grindhouse dark-comedy gore flick, and failed in every department, and for that matter, is an insult to other films in those genres. The bogus high reviews are more entertaining. The only bonus points was the excellent use of colors and decent cinematography, the adequate score and soundtrack, as well as the gorgeous landscapes and funky sets. Even so, it was a complete waste of time, and pointless why this nonsense was even made. You have to be a bunch of slices short of a loaf to find anything in this nonsense entertaining.

Trash movie - In a very good way!
joelnicodet4 December 2022
This crowdfunded, swiss made exploitation movie, has almost everything one can hope for; splatter, clichés, memes, movie references and great visuals.

The amount of time and love invested in this movie really shines through. You can feel the filmmakers love for film. I was very impressed by the quality of the costumes, the sets, even the cgi. (Remembering it's a small production without any big companies involved and a budget that was crowdfunded) There are so many references to swiss culture beautifully incorporated.

This might be controversial and is probably more wishful thinking on my part but what I didn't like was that the film is in English. Of course it has to be to be view and enjoyed around the world, but as a swiss I believe swiss german could have made it much more hilarious. And probably also improved the acting. ( I got the feeling that because the non native english speakers had to speak english their acting suffered a little)

The acting in general varied. Over all it was not great but it also didn't have to be.

What I greatly disliked were the scene with the naked maid. (Portrayed by a swiss "performance artist"). It didn't add anything to the movie and every scene with her in it was like: Naked maid with big fake boobs enters the room - the men around the table start staring and salivating.

In conclusion: definitely worth a watch to not only support independent film makers but also have a fun evening with "the boys" (or girls) and a few beers.

Tacky, Campy Fun
wtwright-7124529 December 2022
This is not a film to be taken seriously, and it's not art. It is a fun romp through the genre of exploitation films, done in an original manner. This movie steals from exploitation movies of the 1970s, as well as spaghetti westerns in cinematography and mood. Good writers borrow and greater writers steal.

Overall, a lot of fun to watch, and I watched it twice to catch what I missed the first time. The story contains numerous jokes and pokes at Swiss culture, and the more you know about the Swiss, the funnier this movie becomes. The whole over-the-top, campy comic book nature of this movie adds to its appeal.

I'm swiss and I'm sorry for this
Mathias_C17 February 2023
I'm swiss and I'm sorry for this, it seems like we have too much public money and like to burn it in such projects. I would prefer no swiss movies rather than this. Poor scenario, pale copy of great movies moments, boring, no surprise, not funny, not sublte at all, bad actor play. The idea of making a mad heidi was good but unfortunately it missed the whole point. They have tried to counterbalance this lack of creativity with more violence, blood and effects but nowadays this doesn't impress anyone anymore. Use this time to watch your washing machine running, it will be more interesting....sorry for this mistake, it can happen, pass your way.

A well made, very bad movie
bwdude27 February 2023
I am not at all a fan of gore or *sploitation movies and started watching this by pure chance and a bit curious what "Swissploitation" might be.

It made me chuckle right from the start because of the very obvious Grindhouse-references and style, so i watched on. It is a parody alright and it does not take itself too serious.

While technically well made, they try really hard to make it "bad". Horribly (but quite possibly intentional) bad editing and directing. A wild story without any sense, tacky dialogues and of course bad acting all around.

Casper Van Dien, in my opinion, is one of the worst "actors" to ever have lived. Which made him kind of perfect for his role as Meili, the "Very Swiss Leader".

Since I grew up with the original "Heidi" the animated series, it was fun to see the original characters reappear in the movie, though very differently.

All in all good fun if you like this kind of stuff.

why would anyone make this film
filmingadventures8 January 2023
It feels like some people that have no clue about film production got together, threw a dumb story together that makes no sense whatsoever and just went out and filmed it. This film is even overrated for a trashfilm. It is beyond me why anyone would even put their time into making such a crap, let alone people that actually funded this film. Aside from the terrible effects, the pointless execution, there just is no narrative here, none whatsoever. It appears this film is self distributed which might actually be its only option anyways, it's doubtful that anyone will buy this film to exhibit on their platform.

Quite cheesy
kosmasp19 June 2023
No pun intended - obviously cheese is playing a big role here. And as with almost everything in here, the movie is quite aware of connections they are making and that we as viewers are seeing. Casper van Dien obviously had a lot of fun doing this - now would I call this great acting overall? Not really - but to play as bad as they do in here - one has to either be bad at acting or good - pretending to be bad. I'll let you be the judge of that. Maybe even the executioner ... ok another pun, I know.

Talking of execution, the movie was made with a lot of love and a lot time - with quite some money raised by a lot of fans online. You either love movies like this one or you are quite appalled by them. While I was not the biggest fan of Sharknado (it felt too on the nose and it was trying to hard - to be fair the first one might have been the best of the series anyway ... hopefully there won't be too many Mad Heidis) ... but this one worked for me.

A lot of blood and a lot of nudity too. The movie delivers on the things people expect from it - and of course quite some mayhem ... be aware of what this is and if this is even something you want to watch ... at all! You may be yodling at the end (I probably misspelled that, but you know what I mean)

Could have been so much more...
paul_haakonsen29 December 2022
Alright, what did I just watch here?

I hadn't heard about "Mad Heidi" prior to sitting down to watch it, but with it being an action comedy as it was presented by its synopsis, I will say that there definitely seemed to be grounds for a fun movie here.

And "Mad Heidi" was indeed watchable, but it was by no means an outstanding comedy experience. And writers Sandro Klopfstein, Johannes Hartmann, Gregory D. Widmer and Trent Haaga seemed to be going everywhere and nowhere all at the same time, because the storyline in "Mad Heidi" was strange. However, the utter lack of comedy in the movie made it a somewhat tedious movie to sit through.

Luckily, the movie makes up for the lack of comedy in its bizarre oddities and excessive violent moments - not an abundance, but they are there. And that made "Mad Heidi" bearable to sit through. However, I have to say that I wasn't particularly entertained here, and this is hardly a movie that I would recommend you to rush out to get to watch. Nor is it a movie that I will ever watch a second time.

The acting in the movie was adequate, taking into consideration the type of movie that it was and the limitations imposed by the script. It was surprising, though, to see the likes of Casper Van Dien in a movie such as this.

I am sure that there is an audience out there for a movie such as what directors Johannes Hartmann and Sandro Klopfstein delivered here. No doubt about it. I actually didn't laugh a single time throughout there course of "Mad Heidi", though I did enjoy some of the cheesy - pun intended - scenes and the excessive violence scenes.

My rating of "Mad Heidi" lands on a five out of ten stars.

A genre defining masterpiece
gruenfink111110 September 2022
Mad Heidi starts off by loading a gun. Not a real gun, but the weapon that will figuratively shoot the viewer in the face. But in a good way. Having seen the teaser the viewer is not likely to be fooled by the beautiful Swiss scenery and impressive visuals. They can feel the revolver being loaded with quick and well practiced motions until it is primed and pointed right at their head. And then the movie starts.

The revolver vanishes and makes room for some sort of gatling gun capable of firing hundreds of rounds per minute for 92 minutes. And it simply doesn't stop anymore. An endless torrent of finely choreographed scenes flicker across the big screen. Every single one filled to the brink with tiny little details, action, humor, cheese, and most of all swissploitation.

If you, like me, are not fully familiar with Swiss culture and traditions some details might not be obvious to you, but they are all placed in a way that they don't distract from what is currently going on and instead serve to add depth and humor if you can spot them.

Outstanding performances are paired with beautiful cinematography, set design, outfits, an overwhelmingly well fitting score and so on. Everything really looks and sounds as close to perfect as you can get. Mad Heidi manages to establish its own genre while still paying tribute to the greats that influenced its creators.

Overall it is a rapid fire of awesomeness that doesn't stop until the movie is over, leaving you wishing there was even more Mad Heidi.

10/10.

Crazy but a bit too clean
nicorombolotti1 February 2023
I love exploitation movies and I was hoping for something more gore , more psychotic non sense and more trash. The movie is hilarious and well done but I didn't see the violence I was looking for. I really loved the color editing , bright colors with a vintage film look , loved it . The cheese has a major role and it was funny to see how they create a dictatorship around it. Sometimes while watching the movie I felt like if I was watching a Tarantino movie but with less style and less budget and maybe too many reference to other exploitation movies but overall I was very happy to have supported this production and I hope to see something new from them maybe more extreme , like the great Hobo With a Shotgun , one of my favorites exploitation ever.

A Trifle
arfdawg-114 January 2023
I suppose this is a take off on exploitation movies. Unfortuantely it's not a good one.

They say in the beginning that it was made with crowdfunding money. Not sure if that was a joke or not.

It's a disjointed movie that doesnt do any justice to exploitaton movies that I usd to watch on 42nd street in NYC during the 1970's and 1980's.

We'd pay a dolar and change to see two features that were measurably better than this movie.

For me the movie is rather tedious to watch. Mainly because it's too "in your face" as if the movie makers are saying "see, isnt this funny?" See? Isnt this wicked? See how smart we are?"

It needed to be way more sutble to be effective.

The final third is fun, hoever and sort of redeems itself a bit.

A Disgraceful Display of Misused Public Funds
katesparks-2494712 May 2023
To say that "Mad Heidi" was a disappointment is an understatement. It's a film that utterly fails to respect not only the conventions of good storytelling but also the hard-earned money of taxpayers. It's an egregious example of public funds misused, and every Swiss franc wasted on this production feels like a direct affront to the public.

The central issue is not merely that the movie is bad - many films are. What truly makes "Mad Heidi" an egregious disappointment is the fact that this film was financed with taxpayer money. It's one thing to produce a poor quality film with private investment; it's another entirely to misuse public funds for a project that clearly did not have the artistic merit or public interest to justify such an expenditure.

The plot is thin, the characters are one-dimensional, and the humour - if we can call it that - is often tasteless and puerile. The exploitation of Swiss stereotypes is not charming or funny as it was perhaps intended, but rather disrespectful and lazy. And what's worse, it's all done with the backing of our tax money.

The acting is equally lamentable. Despite having a cast that has shown promise in other productions, the performances in "Mad Heidi" are completely unconvincing. It is as if the actors were not fully committed to the project, perhaps sensing the impending disaster from the outset. And who could blame them? The script is a mess, filled with cliches, tropes, and dialogues that would make even the most forgiving viewer cringe.

The movie tries to disguise its lack of depth and creativity with gratuitous violence and crude humor, but these attempts fall flat. It's as if the creators of "Mad Heidi" were so focused on being controversial and outrageous that they forgot to include anything of substance.

One could perhaps overlook these flaws if the movie at least had some aesthetic appeal, but even here, "Mad Heidi" fails. The cinematography is amateurish at best, and the special effects are so poorly executed that they pull you out of the experience instead of immersing you in it.

I am not only disappointed as a viewer, but I am also outraged as a taxpayer. This film is an egregious misuse of public funds, an insult to the taxpayers who were unwittingly made to finance such a dismal project. Our tax money should be used for projects that benefit the public, not for financing self-indulgent film projects that serve no purpose other than to inflate the egos of their creators.

In summary, "Mad Heidi" is a poorly executed, unimaginative film that should never have seen the light of day, especially not with the use of public funds. It's a disappointing waste of resources, a missed opportunity, and a painful reminder that not all investments lead to beneficial outcomes. If there's a lesson to be learned here, it's that the allocation of public funds should be done with more scrutiny, and definitely not for ventures as ill-conceived as this one.

the mad hatter...

Couldnt have made any better or worse that this, it just seen to lack one genre listed in the catigory field, that says, comedy action and thriller, but the mainsegment that seems to glue this cheesy anglofied heidi version together is GORE, and a lot of it and its surprisingly well done, special effects and vfx in general works like a swiss army knife, or cheese or whatever.

Its really a mockup comedy, made in a neonazi style, where cheese means everything and lactoseintolerance means bad advertisement and therefore death. Our poor heidi takes the revenge after her goaty boyfriend and one eyed pontopidaneous grandfather has bee killed in the most cruel fashion. How she does it i wont spoil, just say its doe in a way the grumpy old man got hit in the face by, and the gory lover wil sanctify forever.. a recommend.
