first spark of interest this season
Come on, the series was wonderful when it started out, with Division (and Percy) back in Season 1. That was the Set- Up of my choice. Then it degenerated. Michael began to bug the hell out of me. Like a wind-up toy, nothing more. He was great only in the first season. Lindsy couldn't pull off "angry Alex" in Season 2. I began to lose interest big-time. Season 3 was a downward spiral with the plot lines getting increasingly far-fetched*, in my opinion. Regenerated hand. That stuff. But okay, obvious quality, won't argue with that. Lost its initial sparkle though. Nothing of "NIKITA now" compares with "NIKITA back then" and even die-hard fans will know what I mean.

*considering that it's after all a reality-based show, on the forefront of technology, yeah, but the regrown hand bit... Too much. Too advanced sci-fi. Way too much to accept in the plot. Not suitable for this show.

Did like the interrogation scene in this episode. It was my first spark of interest in this, the fourth and final season, the short-lived one. Love Lyndsy. She was the perfect foil for that joyless interrogation officer.

As for the rest of the episode, who holds a funeral at sea for a pet tarantula? Birkhoff is not Seth Cohen, but, okay, maybe, still, contrived, super-contrived. And aarghh! schmaltzy soppy sickeningly- sweet sentimentality re father & son, Hello Dad! Hello Son! aww what the hell are they doing to the show, for shame, the cleverly-hidden (hah!) cryptic messages, aww, how Hallmark card, some troubled scriptwriter had unresolved Daddy issues, aw shame, my heart bleeds for you, bloke, you poor boy! But a reality check now: Bug off!!
