It's nice to come back to this show

Warning: Spoilers
As a child I loved Total Drama Island, I loved the characters, the storylines etc

I didn't hear about this "Reboot" until October, where I managed to finish the entire series in less than a week.

I think the new characters have interesting dynamics and interactions. Everyone stands out from each other which is what you need in a show like this.

Some characters are better than others, but that's what you expect from these shows, there always has to be a protagonist, In which the 1st Season. Is a great one

Priya is a brilliant character and is very fun to watch, she has good interactions with the majority from the cast and did deserve her win, which makes the show greater

The Main Antagonist(s)

Julia is a great villain and is almost like Heather, one of Total Dramas most known characters. The way she changes from this fake influencer into a real villain with lots of character. She doesn't feel bland and predictable which you want as a villain

Bowie, more as an anti hero, is also a great character in the Season, He's a very smart player and has the best strategy throughout the cast, He manages to trick Julia which creates a rivalry moving on to the 2nd Season, where Bowie will seen to be disliked at the start

The Bowie x Raj couple is really good, it's not cheesy and not forced which is nice to see.

Bowie isn't stereotypical gay person (thank god) so he resembles the LGBTQ+ community well

Overall, a really good comeback for Total Drama, it won't be as good as the first season. But it is still worth a watch.

From what i've managed to see from the 2nd season, It seems as if it's a great one, the challenges are interesting. Other characters are able to have an arc, such as Caleb, from being the first boot to making a good plan in the 2nd Season

Julia and MK seem to be the main antagonists this season, Their interactions are very entertaining and great to watch, they make a great duo as the villains

I was so happy to see cameos of the Original Cast, such as Owen, Courtney, Duncan and Izzy. I hope there will be more

If you've seen this, watch the Total Drama Reboot- Even if some of it is a bit cheesy, it's meant to be a kids show.

My Honest Review Of The New Total Drama Island (2023) Reboot. Vote: 6/10
alexputignano10 December 2023
OPINION FROM A FAN THAT WATCHED THE FIRST SEASON OF TOTAL DRAMA WHEN IT AIRED I'll make some comparisons with both first seasons - OG show/Reboot. For me, it's inevitable and I'll tell you why.

It's a good show but I think they copied DramaRama style. I don't like chef role at all. He was funnier before and had a completely different personality.

As for the show, Chris has lost his charm too. I mean he's cool and all but he doesn't have that hate from the characters even tho he put them in horrible situations. Like when in earlier td someone has left, it happened ofter that the contestant eliminated threat Chris or such. I didn't feel the same vibe in the reboot. It was all about challenges.

It didn't meet my expectations. Cartoon Network ordered new seasons probably for the popularity Total Drama Reunion had in end of 2020. At least, this is my guess because they announced the new season on February 2021 while Rama was still in production. I thought they were hinting for something like that, instead they rebooted the show.

I don't really like the characters expect for Zee. He's fun but I hated the way he got eliminated, it didn't make any sense to me that Chris made them vote again for something so ridiculous. As much as Julia and Bowie are really liked by the audience, I didn't really feel like there was a strong presence or any strong dynamic on the show like heather/TDI - the whole Duncan/Gwen/Courtney love triangle drama - heather/Alejandro etc...

If I gotta be honest, I stopped watching td since all stars. They really lost me there. The show felt different and I feel like the show changed target audience since that particular season. The first three seasons felt more like for teenagers.

The gen 1 have personality and they look like teenagers. The others looked like parody of adults in kid's body. Like who is an influencer or how common is to be a famous actress at 16?? I'm probably from another generation, I'm in my early 20s but the teens in the show aren't very believable to me. And I repeat, it's surely because nowadays teenagers/kids are very different from the kids of early 2010s.

I feel like that when there are teens in a show portrayed like that is because kids and very young audience can idolize them. Can see their teen self in those characters. I don't know how to explain.

Too much focus on the challenges. There was nothing outside the challenge and the fact that they are there to win/compete. I remember in the earlier seasons, contestants had some scenes together even when not competing - to build up character development and dynamics. I didn't see much this season except for the overused Bowie/Julia Millie/Priya Chase/Emma dynamic. The premise is not even interesting. Julia and Bowie are a confusing duo. They are both 'villains' and having both of them in that potion, kind of make them less interesting because all the episodes they are together is just a fight between the two to achieve the title which it failed. Julia wasn't really a villain. She has that mean vibe but that doesn't make her a villain. She won the challenges and fight for immunity. She didn't really manipulate anyone - which is what a villain do. Bowie on the other hand has made far on the game just for the alliance he had. He didn't really do anything to be considered a villain. Chase/Emma relationship started outside the show which is already downside to their on-screen dynamic imo. Millie/Priya was so repetitive and it was so lame to me... of course Priya would make Millie go that far and be betrayed just before they were competing for the finale.

There are fair eliminations - like contestants that make the team lose the game - but there are times where the elimination was pretty random imo. There are characters that stayed too much in the game like Ripper/Chase/Millie. I feel like the best and most interesting character get eliminated way too early.

Priya winning the million dollars was kind of predictable and I really didn't expect her to reach the finale along with Bowie and Millie. She pulled off zoey vibes the entire season.

To conclude, I'd say that this season is a 5/10. I'm not sure if this is too high or too low because I don't know how I fell ahah but I wasn't entertained and I didn't even enjoy/smile so...

It has a very different vibe for sure but I'm happy for nowadays kids that are gonna watch and love/discover the show. I'm very glad that the franchise is still alive and producing shows after (about) 15 years.

This was my opinion and people are probably gonna dislike it but be respectful towards it please. I didn't say the show sucked, it's just too different to me.

A serviceable, lazy copy of the original
julianmarku16 December 2023
I seriously want to ask the producers, writers and directors of this series: "did you know what you were making a series dor a streaming service or did you think you were making a cable series?" Because tbe only series that i think represents the gold standard for an animated series made for a streaming service is "Archer". The series that made it to over 10 seasons.

The original TDI is closer to "Archer" than this series. Characters get pretty good arcs, we get some mature jokes and themes, characters actually shows some skin and variety to clothes or curves.

I look at TDI 2023 and I am thinking: did you know that were made for a streaming service or the Disney Channel?

If just feels like the unnecessarily made this series lazily instead if taking advantage of the streaming service and making a more R rated version or something.

Coming from a fan who's been there since the beginning - this was not their best work. Disadeventrue Camp (Season 1) seems slightly better than this Reboot
sariahhenry-7464821 April 2024
It seems like this reboot is definitely geared towards a new audience. They focus a lot on trying to be "modernized," with influencers, "token" diversity people (saying this as a dark-skinned person), using terms like "slay" in their theme song, and it's just totally different from how the original would have presented itself.

I want to make a note here that, while watching the series, the only person I could relate to was Millie - the one who was perplexingly documenting all the other contestants' odd behavior.

This reboot is what a franchise would do if they wanted to alienate and make their original audience leave the show. This is even more evident by the fact that it's already season two and it still hasn't hit American networks (where a good portion of the original audience was based) - coupled with the fact that I would say half of the original audience doesn't even know this reboot exists, and if they did happen to see it, it definitely turned them off.

I understand that we can't always stay at the same point in time and that things have to change for a new audience to come in, but this is too much.

It completely changed the show in a way that's not even recognizable. The character dynamics and storylines are way off, and the voice actor for Chris doesn't even have the same sound; they would have been better off replacing Chris with one of the old contestants to host the show instead of replacing his voice actor.

All in all, I give this a 3 out of 10 to be generous - I just feel like I hate the new show, and one of my favorite TV franchises got ruined in the blink of an eye.
