Sibling love
kosmasp9 August 2021
Siblings love and hate each other - naturally. Now when I say love ... well the natural order would not go as far as what or how much they love each other here. And you can feel it from the first moment - very early at least.

This is drama and madness combined. The acting is really good, the pacing is slow. It will not be everyones cup of tea. And the husband being oblivious to it all ... but this is more philosophical than anything else. Especially the ending ... where I reckon you can read quite a lot into - this is your "homework" - the movie does not just serve you things, it lets you decide what they mean.

An Unwatchable Massive Bore!
perfectx-7141520 July 2022
If it wasn't for the messed up subject matter of the film this movie would be completely unwatchable! It's slow moving bore with uninteresting characters. The love story is barely interesting. And the story that's going on with the business goes nowhere. The acting is competent and the cinematography is good. Besides that this movie is crap! Boring on all levels and simply a bad story. Watch it if you like eating your time.

Introspective and moving.

Warning: Spoilers
It's not a movie for everyone, of course. It is not an easy topic to address and it was courageous for the director to embark on the journey.

In my head, this story between Emilie and Jacob can be represented by a bubble: you enter it for a while, surrounded by beautiful images of unspoiled, surreal nature. And we emerge lost, out of breath, with a veil of melancholy on our hearts. A feeling that does not go away, for many hours (days) later.

It is a slow, conceptual film based on the sounds of reality that surrounds these two young people, united by a destiny and a past that torments them.

Affection turns into love, love turns into pain.

Proxemics hurts, it doesn't give comfort in the end (maybe yes?).

Few dialogues, many looks, thoughtful words.

Jacob and Emilie live in their bubble, alone, for days. Until the sun comes out and it's that dazzling light that makes them separate. We do not know if they will come back together, if they will let themselves go forever. But everything can be considered a beginning.

The panther running through the Swiss woods is peacefully free, albeit in the shadows, hunted, pursued. Ultimately, however, she will never be caught.

I conclude by quoting the wonderful ending song, "Good" by JJ & Palin, because it is perfect for this movie.

This was great storytelling
filmlovelife28 January 2023
The story is nuanced and some people may not like dramas where the story is in the subtleties of two people in love, but that shouldn't mean it's a "boring movie" as someone else wrote. It's only boring if you aren't interested in the plot in the first place. For the rest of us, it's actually a little intense.

The interactions between the siblings are often only visual and without dialog. The barrier between right and wrong isn't really their concern, it's more about whether or not they can sustain their romance without having problems from the outside world. But see, they don't say these things, it is just implied. If you're not picking up on that, then I can understand why you would think it's boring or that there's no plot.

My only complaint is that I want to find out what happens next. I feel the movie could have been a little longer and have them run away together to try to make it work. The potential for a lot more drama is there, including how and where they hide, what they tell people about themselves, how long that lasts, etc. This film felt like the first episode in a series I'd like to see.
