People let's suspend disbelief. .allow yourself to be entertained.

Warning: Spoilers
Real or not I was entertained and drawn in. If i want real I go ghost hunting. Nothing can capture that feeling. Watching shows like this inspires me and pumps me up. Paranormal witness is a good one.dead files is good because the histories are real. But nothing beats the real thing. Get you a voice recorder and Google haunted spots locally and find out foot tottering

The show is great but also fake
Misslvoice11 July 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I love this show so much but when i found out that the so called real people documenting the stories are actors i got disappointed. Just read the casting-list here on IMDb and you will see for yourself. For me its important that its documented 100 % or otherwise i will move on to the next show.

On their homepage they write; "My Haunted House." Told via gripping first person interviews and strikingly crafted re-enactments, each episode of this nerve-wracking new series tells two compelling horror stories of people literally living in terror.

But its not true......as i said, its actors...:(

But overall its well done with suspense and great stories. But i like Paranormal witness more. Check it out as well. I give this series a high rating because of its exiting content but not full score because of the actors they use. Where are the real one's? I think they do exist and can tell their story.

It's not real? Really?
nygman1028 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
First, I would like to explain my rating... The acting from the "re- enactment" part of the show is pretty good. If you watch the episode where the woman starts yelling, "GUILTY! GUILTY!!!" You will agree that that woman deserves an Emmy... However, when you watch the storytelling part of the show, you will find yourself questioning if the show is real. That's how the wife and I discovered that the show is, as most things involved with ghosts are, a work of fiction. I really do not care for the whole supernatural thing but the wife does. I started watching because of her. After the first couple of episodes, we started looking up some of the stories due to the bad storytelling. Pure fiction. The show kinda loses its appeal after the fact.

This is all fake
beckaction18 July 2015
Now I know it. They just did a story on my hometown that involved a serial killer. No such serial killer existed anywhere in the U.S. let alone in my hometown. The serial killer was made up, his nickname was made up, his method of killing and m.o. were made up - I searched on everything they said on My Haunted House - and the entire story seems to be made up. Not even one iota of the story was true. Done watching this stuff. Like someone else commented, I like other ghost/paranormal stories that use real people instead of paid actors - and true stories. It's not like there aren't enough of them to go around. I studied acting, and did my fair share back in the day, and I can tell when someone is acting...especially if they aren't that good.

I love this show
jaimetakemoto24 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Whether all the stories are true or not is irrelevant to me. It's still a creepy and entertaining show. Also, it is stated that names, locations, etc. are changed in the telling of these stories. I have found many of the stories that are told on this show are in fact true, but key facts have been changed. The episode titled Truth or Dare is based on murders that happened in the UK, not the US, but it is a horrid thing that happened and the house the murders took place is in fact called "The Butcher's House". The real story is WAY more messed up than the story told on the show. I included the link for the news article below.

Fake but still very enjoyable.
lrynmecca2 November 2016
I give this a 6 out of 10 only because they advertise the show as being a true story. After watching a few of the episodes and going online to find news of the events, I could not find the story anywhere. I love paranormal and ghost shows and I also enjoy shows on ID of murders and crimes. I can always cross-reference to the real events that took place. Have not been able to find a single one for My Haunted House. If anyone has found any for any of the so called real stories please point them out to me. In any case, the stories in this show are pretty good and if it weren't for the false advertisement of the stories being true I'd give it a 10 rating.

Overall Nice Series
samoscene8 May 2013
first of all, i want to add another genre to this series, it's horror and documentary. because, people are telling their stories, this is the most horror part of the series, overall, it's a nice series, worth a watch. second, the videoing is very nice, the effects plays an important role in horror making, the directing is great and acting is very fantastic. finally, I gave it 8/10 just because first, it's a documentary series, although, actually, it made me love the documentaries, second, because the sense that "you know that the house is haunted, why didn't you leave", the first scenario, which is "The Nursery" was because her husband was refusing to move and she was hiding the truth on him, but in the second scenario, which is "The Closet" there was no reason for not leaving the house, feels like they knew that they were acting, third, i don't know if the next episodes will be such like the first episode or they are going to change their overall style and criteria, fourth, i didn't like the double scenarios in the same episode, this might be only for the first episode, but it's going to be better if each episode get a single scenario.

Fake!
peter_van_o14 July 2014
At first glance, this program appears to be similar to My Ghost Story and Paranormal Witness (two programs I quite enjoy). However, after watching a few episodes of My Haunted House, it dawned on me that the "eyewitnesses" are paid actors (and not very good ones, at that) telling a story which is 100% scripted.

Obviously, the re-enactments would use actors, just like other shows in this genre. However, I strongly suspect that the "eyewitness accounts" have all been dreamed up by scriptwriters. The "eyewitnesses" telling the stories are mostly very unconvincing. The acting is so wooden, I'm surprised I didn't realise it was fake much sooner than I did.

Realising that the program is fake simply sucked all of the enjoyment out of it for me.

A clue to the show being completely fake is given during the credit sequences. At the start of the program it states "The following two stories are inspired by documented paranormal encounters". Reading between the lines, "inspired by" translates to "completely made up".

I believe it should be openly disclosed that this program features works of fiction rather than "eyewitness accounts" of paranormal encounters.

Great new series!!
pointe208718 May 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I'm really enjoying this new TV show. It's very cinematic and well acted and in my opinion, one of the best ghost shows there is. I don't necessarily believe everything that happens is true, or that the so called real people documenting the stories aren't actors (I think they probably are) but that doesn't detract from my enjoyment because it's like watching a movie with two interesting short ghost stories. The special effects are great, the stories really are scary and all around it's a very entertaining show. If you love Paranormal Witness like I do, you will enjoy this show because it's similar, but a little more far fetched at times. It doesn't matter to me though because it is such a cool new series. Watch it!!!

Let me explain
gfatale15 September 2015
The people who tell the story are actors and the locations are also made up and events changed in order to protect the identity of the people it happened to. Now I don't believe in ghosts in the first place, so I would say it's all made up, however I felt it necessary to explain the shows premise as so many of you do not seem to understand. This show is as authentic as any of the others out there once you understand the premise. Which once again....is that actors are hired to play the people telling the story in order to protect that persons identity. Wow. ( and also the reanactments are by actors too, just so we are clear) I like these kinds of shows, it's like getting to watch little horror shorts. Fun show, great story telling. Enjoy!

fake as fake can be
goldwhispers13 February 2016
firstly the actors are extremely contrived, if this was authentic they wouldn't all speak in the same scripted voice. At first i thought they might just be coached but after several episodes its like the same narration by 'real people' over and over again.

Some stories seemed a bit too.....yep Im a good investigator and even with name changes i am usually able to get details of incidents, some which would have been reported on. I searched high and low and could not validate them.

I am definitely a believer in the paranormal so its not like i am skeptical. Its really annoying because its being touted as truth. This show is fake in my opinion. Its disappointing, I've stopped watching it.

If you like fiction this is the show for you. "Witness accounts," extremely bad actors. If you research the claims in the episodes you will see it is pure fiction.

Terrific short stories about hauntings with narrations from the real people.
nitestar9522 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It will make you wonder if your own house might be haunted! All you need are some unexplained noises! Just as long as you know that it's all enhanced drama about anecdotes from real life about houses that they think might be haunted. It's great entertainment, but that's probably all it is. But it's realistic enough to send chills down your spine, especially if you watch it late at night on a big screen TV, or during a storm when you have all the lights out, or BOTH! Plenty of jump scares as the 'ghost' suddenly appears on the screen! From the very first episode, it's been a great evening/late night show to watch this Halloween season! I recently found it on The Travel CHannel (I don't know how much ghost travel), and the LIfetime networks. you can't find it elsewhere. I believe it's also on DVD if you can find a copy. AFAIK, it's still being broadcast with new episodes.

Great show even though the stories are fabricated.
ryanfitz-365342 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Let me first say that I absolutely love this show even though it's not real. I am a big fan of watching paranormal shows, movies, documentaries, and I even study the paranormal/demonology due to several paranormal incidents I've had in my life. I just started watching this show last week by seeing the episode "Portrait of Evil" and was hooked. The episode "The frozen forest" is by far my favorite that I've seen so far, and the part where the carving in the desk says "Merry Christmas Conrad" still gives me chills when I think about it. That episode was honestly some of the scariest stuff I've ever seen. I was giving the show the benefit of the doubt that it was real until I saw the episode "The boy did it". At one point in the show, the child's dad asks him the name of the boy, and he responds "His name is Calvin, but we're friends so I can call him Marty". That was the point I knew without a doubt that the show was fabricated. It just so happens that in the original Back to the future that when Michael J. Fox's character meets his mom in 1955, she calls him Calvin, and he responds by saying his friends call him Marty. All in all I enjoy the show, and think that it is very well done with the exception of some bad acting from the story tellers. If you're looking for a scare that will stick with you and give you the creeps for a while, this is the show for you.

I don't get it
jodeocfl11 January 2017
I don't care if the shows are real or fake. They are great stories and grip you from the beginning. My complaint is that you constantly advertise "All New Shows" and they are reruns. Week after week of disappointments. Since you have had such incredible success with the acting and directing, what is the problem? Have you run out of stories? I'd send you mine, but it only lasted for less than 5 seconds and never replayed. If it is creative writing, you should be good to go. There are thousands of writers who would love to see their work on the screen. And new writers who would contribute for no more than screen credits.

Same House?
aripekaangel2 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ok, I realize that it's all fake. "Inspired by" is the biggest clue, but my question is has anyone else noticed that they use the same houses throughout the series? I'm rewatching Season 1 Episode 14 "The Baby Thief" and S1 E15 "The Innskeeper" and they use the same exact house! ONE episode after the other?! I remember seeing the house again in at least one later episode. They reuse the houses all throughout the series. Did they think the viewer would not notice? Ridiculous. I'm sure they could have been more inventive in finding other locations to film. Would make it more believable. It's a good show, but take it as face value. It's for entertainment purposes only. These are NOT real stories, just ones made up by writers and some good, but mostly mediocre actors playing both parts. The reenactors and the people who supposedly experienced the paranormal encounters. I was hoping it was real since I've had my own true experiences and disappointed to find that's not the case. Still ok to make the popcorn and watch tho. Entertaining enough.

Haunted Stories.
stunata7 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
if the Amityville Horror case taught us one thing it was that Telepathic Projection was a possibility. Telepathic Projection is the theory that claims that a demonic entity can target its subject without effecting the people around them. How could a whole family see a banister explode when it was obviously never damaged? Obviously walls don't bleed and rooms don't fill up with flies. People get told they're crazy or just flat out lying after a telepathic episode. Look at the Lutz family. Unfortunately they were crucified in the court of public opinion due to the lack of physical evidence. So when all was said and done they made nothing. Telepathic Projection. How can you disprove a telepathic vision that preys on the victims weaknesses? I'm not a Medium, Chaos Magician or a member of the Clergy but I support this theory. Mainly because most hauntings including possession tend to "heal" themselves in the end.

Fake, don't waste your time
koan_728 November 2014
It's one thing to debate whether people's testimonials on these types of shows are believable or not, at least they seem to believe their experiences, which makes it interesting to ponder, but this show is intellectually dishonest by faking the testimonials altogether and won't even notify viewers, it's disrespectful.

There's absolutely no point in watching this if there isn't even an ounce of credibility, don't waste your time, there are plenty of other shows who make minimal efforts in finding real stories with real people. I give it some points for production value, I guess. But don't encourage people like this, they're just following trends and money.

Best directed of all the haunting shows
onelonewolf-9177228 December 2021
I've read some of the comments here, and they don't know what they are talking about.

My haunted house is THE best directed haunted show.

At first, I used to think that A HAUNTING was the best, but after a while A HAUNTING turned into Hollywood style, having too many over the top theatrics that makes the whole thing seem not realistic.

But when I began watching MY HAUNTED HOUSE, ghostly manifestations was much more subtle, which is how true haunting occur, which is much more believable.

Instead the directing emphasizes on surprised reaction to occurrences using sound scoring at the right place.

I wish they would make more MY HAUNTED HOUSE shows, without changing any of the directing techniques.

Since it's cancelation, other haunting shows have popped up, that are similar in directing but still not as good as MY HAUNTED HOUSE.

Good show, but the reviewers need to use some prudence.
coolie1983 January 2015
These stories are great, they really make a paranormally inclined person such as myself question, which is what I like, but many of these stories don't seem so far fetched (but there are a lots of segments I have my doubts they didn't "spice up" -1 star). I know some people that have very similar stories to these.

There's lots on demons and poltergeists, so in that respect, the title "My Haunted House" doesn't really make sense. Your house can't be haunted by demons, it's inhabited. And poltergeist occurs at a house, it doesn't haunt. Ghosts haunt by definition. For that, it gets a .5 a star off. The title should have been something to do with paranormal, not "haunted". Misleading, but the show makes up for it.

Thirdly, on some occasions, they only have one person telling the story, for both segments. They also state later that "...identities...have been changed". Why show this message if there is 2 people telling two people telling two stories? Seems to me they hired actors to tell the experiences of people, hence the "wooden" performance. I suppose they could hire better actors to tell the actual stories of what was documented by people who were willing to come forward but not give their name nor their presence. Knocking off .5 a star for that because the show is mostly re-enactments anyway.

To the reviewers, use a bit of logic. The show clearly states that they are "inspired by paranormal events". It's basically the experience minus all the suspenseful parts (which I live for, but if you have a problem with it, I guess you're not a horror film fan).

EDIT: The shows quality has gone down dramatically because they've started making up paranormal claims. Prior to the third season, there was no "all persons fictitious" disclaimer in the beginning. Now there is, and I've stopped watching. The show could get away with embellishing before, since they were actually based on paranormal encounters. Henceforth, I will not be watching the show.

One of the better Travel Channel ghosts productions
imdb-2528810 December 2021
For the past 3 years, I have watched every show I could on the T. C. that isn't "ghost hunting". I have to say, this is top of the line of the offered fare. It has strong production values, the acting is very good, at least every one knows how to act unlike in LifeTime "movies" (Heh ...I don't receive that many channels, folks!)

I think this is one of the first such series I tuned into, and I've been mainly disappointed with subsequent shows that don't have the production values they do here. I mean the camera angles, the directing, the editing, everything is pretty good. Not to mention the scares: they're done just right, with minimum amount of "blood & guts" and no gore. Just the way I like it.

It took a while to get used to the cut to commercial every 5 min and then repeat of the last 2 min before commercial break, but this is par for the course at the Travel Channel. Now, early on, I started doing research on some of these stories. It doesn't take long to figure out that, yes, some of the people telling "their" story are actually actors playing real people, and other actors are recreating their alleged stories. That doesn't faze me.

Now, if you've never lived through something like this, good for you. While some would give anything to have such an "adventure", I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum where I'd like my life back, back when I "knew" all this to be fake. Sadly, it isn't so. Although, granted, I haven't met all these entities, apparitions, ghosts and monsters, my unwitting experiences have been such that I seek such shows to "feel normal". And deep down, I dread the next time such an encounter will occur, but somehow I do know it's brewing.

For the rest, don't be too hard on the folks scoffing and rating it low: back before I knew this stuff was for real, my attitude was "are they taking us for imbeciles?" and "these people are mentally ill!" but now I know differently.

I just wish they would get to it and produce more episodes. I also wish the other T. C. shows (Haunted Hospitals, Haunted Hotels, Paranormal Witness These Woods are Haunted etc. Etc.) would hire whoever is responsible for the high quality shows here (D. P.? Director? Editor? Writers?) and get to it and create better content for those shows. Not only that, I wish the T. Ch. Would quit renaming shows and splicing segments into new titles. Now THAT is taking us for imbeciles! (See the Robert Englund show, which has 3 different titles, showing the same exact episodes in such "cut & paste" fashion.)

As I said, some of these stories are made up. That will be entertainment. I think one of the stories that was the most gripping was "Home, Sweet Hell" that of Lori Settle. I was shocked when I researched it, to find out the lady had indeed met her demise, most likely at the "hands" of the entity, just like she predicted. Chilling!

As for why I won't watch "ghost hunting" shows: post-prod added EVP and stick figures dancing in a darkened room are boring: you've seen one, you've pretty much seen them all! (And don't get me started on their dumb hosts!)

I'd rate this at 8/10, being that there's much room for improvement, but this isn't the 80s when they made fantastic television productions so, for what it is, and to bump its rating on here a bit, I'm giving it a 9/10.

Every ghost show's fake
vikjurk19 February 2023
Don't be so emotional over a show a five year old could understand Its fake. This one does it right. You get the chills from these stories a good amount of jump scares and great sgi ghosts to add to the terror. The story lines are like mini movies. What could be better? I mean ghost hunters "omg did you hear that" camera pans to nothing "I feel a ghost" come on stop acting like those shows are based on anything more than a tool in love with himself capturing nothing on camera and having way to many seasons and this shows getting all the hate. Ghosts aren't real it's called television it's fake at least this show scares and shows scary images way better than a dork looking at a wall.
