Done it - watched both seasons - and ...
wwsitzq-3584426 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
... Gosh, i liked the first season, but barely stuck through the second. A few positives reviews kept me going, especially during the meaningless quest motifs (meaningless because they took so long, with dialog and directing that didn't earn the time commitment) in the various set dramas. The scenes with the kids endlessly hunting for "Casp". The mother and her two kids forever in the Madonna mode of the sacrificing female. In the first season there was an edge - the mom/doctor character had been betrayed and had complicated feelings. In the second season, she was just full-on, nonstop mother with no other aspects to the character. This is boring, episode after episode. Still, in the last two episodes a couple of the characters are written with at least a more complex dynamic - sacrifice, for example. The ending suggests a season three, but I have to wonder if the audience is there for that. And what's with Casp - is he on the side of humanity after all?

[6.2] The mothership through
cjonesas30 November 2023
On season 2_episode 9: same as season 1, though, my wish was granted and I got to see the bright, daring, tenacious and lovely Mitsuki, the only one out there with a scientific and academic background that I like and respect.

Other than that, a little subpar season in comparison with season 1, with the same nonsense with Aneesha and her family and acquaintance, some lengthy dragging scenes and episodes with the British kids and an ending that is worse than the whole season.

Time to cancel the show. This time and this series, really.

Music from Departure
christophe-huysecom18 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Wonderful episode again. Great balance between science fiction and mystery. Love the show un general. What surprised me us the music used when the connection is made through the vines. I immediately recognized it as the music from Departure. It is very beautiful music and fits perfectly in this scene, but for me it was a bit strange. It felt like playing Star Wars music in Star Trek. Only hecause the track is so recognizable. Maybe it has been done in previous episodes as well and I did not notice, but this great score was unmistakably linked in my memory to the movie Departure. I wonder if anyone els has noticed this.

How inept is the US army?
thales-6304519 January 2024
Wow! Filmmakers in the US love portraying the US armed forces as totally inept. Are we to believe a high security facility can be breached by an ex-soldier and a bunch of amateurs?? Well apparently so. It's cringeworthy and the love story (ies) with a hint of scifi continues. The story is becoming weaker episode by episode and the way the chain of command is regularly broken to keep the agenda going is laughable. By the way where's all the dead bodies? Are we to believe the whole of the U. K. or European population is holed up in small enclaves? Hundreds of millions of people? What rubbish. Where's all the starving dogs, cats etc. Even when the characters travel there are no farm animals. I'm sure the CGI could 'draw' them in. By the way writers. Any soldier who leaves or loses his radio will report it and the crypto will be changed. Also why did they make the mother so unlikeable. I've never watched a series where I've rooted for one of the characters to be knocked off. Why do they make it so unbelievable. Anyhoo only one episode of this absolute trash to go.

Golshifteh Farahani's terrible acting wrecks the series
jheskin-240-4030330 December 2023
Golshifteh Farahani Is such a terrible actor! Vacillating between blank expressions with dead expressionless eyes and constant heavy breathing combined with a pointless storyline for her character just wrecks this series. If this series continues, then they either need to kill off her character or get a better actor (or get her some acting lessons).

The series also needs to work in the aliens a great deal more. It is less of an alien movie than it is a teen romance show. Ironically, every youth actor on this show is better than Farahani. Unfortunately, the ubiquitous trope of the kid causing most of the problems and deaths to those adults around them is used excessively in the series.
