It was a very poor week for Bollywood at the box office with not even a single new release managing to make any dent. Out of 8-9 Hindi films that were in the pipeline, only four could boast of some semblance of release – Bajatey Raho, Nasha, Issaq or Luv U Soniyo. However none of these could do much either in the weekend or the weekdays, hence turning out to be downers.
Bajatey Raho needed very stable weekdays to boast of some moolah that it could carry home. However that was not the case to be as the ensemble affair saw a downward trend with it’s first week billing reading around 7 crore. Though the film has been made at a minimal cost, the Shashant Shah directed affair would have done better with added collections.

That Bollywood is starving of a good comedy is no breaking news. Between ‘strictly adult’ tagged sex comedies and the slapstick ones, it’s been a while since we’ve had a good clean laugh-out-loud film. With the promos look as promising as ‘Bajatey Raho’ did, does the movie deliver as promised?

Frances Ha | The Wolverine | Blackfish | Days Of Grace | Springsteen & I | Viramundo | Dial M For Murder | Best Of Luck | Bajatey Raho
Frances Ha (15)
(Noah Baumbach, 2012, Us) Greta Gerwig, Mickey Sumner, Michael Esper. 86 mins
Gerwig does a winning line in klutzy/ditzy in what's essentially a tailor-made showcase for her natural comic talents. An aspiring dancer whose sense of fun is starting to look a lot like immaturity, Frances is having trouble negotiating that tricky stage between studenthood and adulthood. A very minor crisis, admittedly, but this is more about character and tone, and Gerwig's New York misadventures are rendered with a casual verve that brings to mind the French New Wave or Manhattan-era Woody Allen.
The Wolverine (12A)
(James Mangold, 2013, Us) Hugh Jackman, Rila Fukushima. 126 mins
The X-badass rips into Japan in this solo adventure, but while Jackman's as mean and buff as ever, the story feels a little long in the claw,...

Film: "Bajatey Raho'; Cast: Tusshar Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Ranveer Shorey, Ravi Kishan, Brijendra Kala; Director: Sashant Shah; Rating: ***
For the second time this week Ravi Kishan gets it bang-on. Playing a vicious entrepreneur with a marriageable daughter, Kishan is an energetic ball of agile evil.
The same goes for the rest of the arresting ensemble cast of very capable actors who get into the mood of the con-job without fuss and with a flair for acting funny without toppling over into parody.
I call it Fukrey-land. Welcome again to the comic world of lovable losers. The cast here is older, if not wiser than in "Fukrey". Mummyji (delightfully droll Dolly Ahluwalia) and her family of sons and son-like wanderers.

An avalanche of movies is arriving on screens this weekend, what with as many as four notable releases in the anvil. Primarily word of mouth films, one expects a better start in the multiplexes for Bajatey Raho whereas Nasha should open better in the single screens. As for Issaq, it does look like an interesting film and good reviews coupled with quick word of mouth from audience could give it a chance at the box office. Between these three films, Bajatey Raho has been the most visible of the lot and since it is backed by a premium production house (Eros’ Raanjhanaa is still running in theaters), the release would be widespread as well. A comedy, it could well be a Chalo Dilli moment for director Shashant Shah since the Vinay Pathak-Lara Dutta starrer too had released amidst as many as six films and still emerged victorious. The World's End (15)
(Edgar Wright, 2013 UK) Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Paddy Considine, Martin Freeman, Eddie Marsan, Rosamund Pike. 109 mins
Wright brings another Hollywood scenario down to earth by virtue of an utterly British setting, and the clash is still hilarious. Especially for the 1990s generation, since this sees Pegg and co attempting to relive their youth with an indie-dance-backed pub crawl down memory lane. Has their hometown changed because of high-street homogenisation, robotic infiltration, or the effects of 12 pints? All three, it turns out.
Breathe In (15)
(Drake Doremus, 2013, Us) Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, Amy Ryan. 97 mins
As he did with Like Crazy, Doremus tells an age-old story with uncanny intimacy and powerful acting, particularly from Jones. Playing an exchange student in New England, she's drawn to Pearce's musician dad, with inevitable consequences.

Actresses Kamlesh Gill and Dolly Ahluwalia have come back together for director Shashant A Shah’s revenge comedy film, Bajatey Raho. They will be seen in a completely new avatar, ready to surprise audiences again.
“I was very excited when Shashant told me that Kamlesh ji is also a part of this film. Shooting with her in Vicky Donor was so much fun. I feel that we didn’t have much work together in Vd. In fact, I think even if we do an entire film together I will be greedy for more screen space with her. She is a delight to work with!” says Dolly.

Film: "Bajatey Raho"; Music Directors: Jaidev Kumar; Singers: Anmol Malik, Sona Mohapatra, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Manjeet Ral, and Gajendra Varma; Rating: **
The music album of director Shashant Shah's forthcoming revenge-comedy "Bajatey Raho" is made up of six tracks. While certain tracks are attention-grabbing, others are monotonous.
The first track is "Nagin dance" sung by Anmol Malik. If the singer's voice infuses fun, carefree feeling, the music is interesting with pungi (beena) playing very efficiently. A good song to listen to, it could be termed as the highlight of the album.
Singer Sona Mohapatra tries to lift everyone's spirits with the next number titled "Khurafati ankhiya". Talking about naughty eyes, the.

Time and again, Honey Singh has been dragged into the limelight for all the wrong reasons but then how does one justify the hoards of offers that he is flooded with from Bollywood to compose music. Yo Yo Honey Singh who is known to feature in songs and rap in between has for the first time sung an entire song. Going well with the attitude of the film, the song comprises of a very ’Bajaoing’ feel which is also a Honey Singh patent. The groovy beats and the electro club feel make it a compulsion for the audience to shake a leg to this track. The music is...

“Mere paas Ma hain!” This iconic line once defined an a whole age of cinema (mainly the 60s and 70s) which was dedicated to upholding the mother’s wishes but is one which – according to actress Dolly Ahluwalia is deteriorating in this new era of film, where the focus is at times on the ‘item’ numbers of a film rather than the actual plot itself (Tees Maar Khan anyone?).
“There are not many roles for senior artists currently, and the significance of mother in present films is lost. The mothers of the 1960s used to play central characters but now we are losing that”, Dolly stated in a recent interview.
Dolly Ahluwalia who recently starred in, Vicky Donor and Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, says that there are fewer roles for senior female artists nowadays.
The actress said that earlier roles for women used to be much stronger, but not anymore.
