All Town Aren't We? We sure are!
awilkinson-4898021 January 2024
Brilliant from start to finish. The energy thrums throughout the production. It dances along your nerves, the footage unfolding like the best of games, graceful passing, hard tackling, thunderbolt shooting, thrilling and frustrating as Town's surreal, undulating, rollercoasting season unfolds. As the film builds those undulations become a heart monitor strapped to a raver, every new sequence, every new comment another spike across the scene and a fresh jolt to the audience meanibg we are never allowed to settle. At times it's as if someone off screen shouts "Clear!" and we're pumped with a defibrillator, Spring's hands gripping the paddles and laughing manically in our faces as he builds the tension through the football and the interviews, interchangeable faces and action, words and deeds, stirring music. The unique nature of the play-off journey, three opponents, three away games, three sets of extra time, had already provided all the ingredients of a thrilling script. It's every sports movie you've ever loved wrapped neatly into one crazy season to present a real-life Hollywood tale of triumph over adversity.

And Hollywood it certainly is as that adversity was provided by the Hollywood A Lister Ryan Reynolds along with Rob McElhenney. IN the film, they both provid beautifully charming opponents, think Grimsby's Rocky versus Wrexham's Apollo Creed. Both are just as beautiful and ultimately charmingly magnanimous in their cameos. Look out for McElhenney's perfect summation of what it feels like to lose out in a closely fought game.

The talking heads were excellent throughout, introducing the town and the Town, compliments only, of course, but nevertheless honest and sincere. Their passion, for the club and for the 21/22 season shines from their faces, filling the cinema with an almost childlike joy - these guys are just as much in awe of that season as we are. Dave Moore, the club's physio, was a particular standout, his Grimsby roots give him the air of a father figure, a benevolent observer, mentor and carer, his lines delivered rationally, soberly, not quite detached and not quite sardonic, just an honest man who tells it like he saw it. Poster boy, John McAtee, is proud, "a lad" as described by CEO Debbie Cook, and perhaps a little naive as he describes his mid-season red card, but his honesty, his innocent joy at his involvement allows us all this brief moment to believe in that romantic ideal we all hope is true but rarely dare to speak out loud: the players do it because they love it and they know, they understand, unthinkingly, unquestionably understand, that every one of us would love to experience those moments of joy, to make that tackle, that pass, that save, to score that goal, to turn to those adoring thousands and raise our arms in the air...

This is a film that makes us believe.

What a documentary!
ksmith-775565 January 2024
What a season and what a way of reliving the memories! So well put together, perfectly captured the emotion, excitement and passion of the games! The journey from relegation to promotion was such a rollercoaster, plus incorporating the new owners take over and what that meant to the fans and communities around the area really was inspiring & uplifting.

These memories really will last a lifetime for all involved, but to see it up on the big screen with the insight from the players past & present made compelling viewing.

Well done to all involved for putting it together! Biggest world premiere Cleethorpes will ever host! ATAW!

A film for football fans by football fans
wcvtmyzfd6 January 2024
A simply wonderful celebration of hope, belief & community. This film tells the impossible to believe story of how Grimsby Town FC's players, club but most importantly fans at their lowest point found optimism that "this too will pass" & that they'd be back where they belonged, in the English Football League. I know the outcome of those National League 21/22 playoff and final games, I was there for 2:3 of them, but I felt nervous all over again watching again! This is a film for any true footie fan not only GTFC fans. It captures the very central place that a club can play in the hope & pride of a community. Special mention to both Liam Emerson for his immense contribution & to the work of Kristine Green & the Mariners Trust and the fans that raised >£40k to take fans who otherwise couldn't attend to the final #UTM #GTFC.

Football drama at it's finest
youngy-718706 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
If you've enjoyed the Wrexham documentary. I would fully recommend checking this out. A story of another footballing takeover of a small town team but it's not Hollywood film stars, just two local businessmen who want to change the fortunes of an ailing club. In turn they have possibly the greatest promotion season in its history. Mix that with some beautiful pitch side camera work from Liam Emerson and it makes for a great 90 minutes of sporting drama. Also would recommend seeing it at the cinema during its limited run. Loved the openness and honesty of the clubs players and staff and look out for some big cameos.

This is what it means!
tommyshaw-351455 January 2024
This is a showcase of a very special club doing something that'll never be replicated in my lifetime. It perfectly encapsulates the value and importance of a club like Grimsby as the heart of a community.

It's a feel good show which shows how much clubs like grimsby mean to the people, it brings everyone together and brings so much pride to the town and people involved. I feel extremely privileged to have gone to the premiere.

To come from where they were and achive what they did, how they did is nothing short of remarkable.

Holds a special place in not only my heart but the hearts of everyone in the town. All Town Aren't We!

A must watch even if you don't like football
anneboy9 January 2024
A film close to my heart, about a northern town with a football club that means so much to the Town. Grimsby Towns amazing supporters who turn up week in week out to watch our amazing football team. It's a heart warming story about about GTFC "come back" - it cannot fail to hook you into the GTFC story. You don't have to be a football fan to appreciate the importance of this season to Grimsby Town. The big screen truly captured the events - I even clapped when we scored and I knew the ending!

We don't have a lot in Grimsby but we are going places and the people in Grimsby are some of the best you will meet.

Thank you to everyone who put this superb film together, for capturing, the fabulous efforts of our team, our super supporters , the Town and Club that we are immensely proud of.

A must for any football fan, especially those from Grimsby!
mstjqsir5 January 2024
A proper salt of the earth film about a passionate fan base from Grimsby, who support Grimsby Town, a football club in the east of England.

This film gives insights from, fans, players, the coaching team and board member's, during the highs and lows of an incredible season in the football league.

There's no glamorous cars, flash watches or designer clothes, just honest views and amazing footage of a season not to forget.

A real treat of a film for those wanting something more down to earth and real in the football world.

The board members come across as exceptional custodians of this proud club.

Up the mariners!

This is a rollercoaster of emotions throughout the normal season accumulating in the three most incredible games where a never say die attitude got the team over the line. What hell of a ride and what an ending! Cannot wait to watch it and relive it all over again! UTM!

A fascinating insight into the dramas of a lower league club!
martindeans17 January 2024
A fantastic insight into the life of a lower league football club & the unprecedented drama that goes with it. It dosent have to be premier league to have excitement, however this documentary is certainly premier standard! A truly gripping insight, it portrays how important league football is to clubs of the size of Grimsby, the importance it plays in the local community and beyond, its a must watch, it may encourage more people to support their local club or take in lower league football & experience the drama that is associated with this level. Honesty is evident throughout, people striving to improve for the benefit of the wider community.

Authentic!!
hertsgtfc21 January 2024
If you're a football supporter especially of a small club you need to watch this as it's not some Hollywood plucky underdogs fairy tale it perfectly illustrates what can be achieved if everyone is on the same page, owners, management, players & most importantly supporters.

I'm no expert but this is also a really great production and piece of cinematography charting an amazing couple of weeks for Grimsby & its football club.

The interviews from all stake holders just brings this to life & people will understand what this club and many like it mean to its supporters & community.

Like I say any supporter should catch this it's a brilliant feature.

Well done all!

Brilliant watch
shaun-smith135 January 2024
Home from watching the world premiere of this film. Such an enjoyable watch. I'm certain I will watch this a few times. A fabulous documentary about Grimsby Town FC following relegation to non league football for the second time.

Heartbreak for supporters as manager Paul Hurst fails to keep The Mariners in League 2. No crowds. No atmosphere due to Covid.

Heart warming, funny and exhilarating to watch this memorable season captures the rollercoaster ride brilliantly.

There have been many ups and downs in the history of GTFC but this journey will long be remembered by all who witnessed it.

True Reflections
alanburley6 January 2024
Once again Jack Spring has captured the strong community pride that Grimbarians have in our little time. Last time through the eyes and stories cf fisherman in Three Day Millionaire. This time through the eyes and stories of Grimsby Town fans and that amazing promotion season from the National League. I have to admit that my eyes were damp nearly all the way through the film. As the passion and pride for the Town and Football Club through the personal contributions and match footage hit you like a runaway train. Hope it gets a DVD release because I am sure that it would be a massive best seller.

Well done to everybody involved in putting the film together.

Small Town heroes
ian-jackson6 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
In the mould of what you know of modern 'documentary football', with the twist that this isn't big league, isn't Hollywood, isn't sleeping giant. It's Grimsby Town. Football stalwarts, sleeping minnows in a big pond? Pretentions of grandeur don't really work for us Town fans, we look silly trying to be the big boys of non league, because, we are non league, the table doesn't lie.

This film kind of acknowledges that, by the fact that we have had this miracle season worth shouting about. Strong start, mid season terror, squeaking the play-offs. It leads to the play-offs of play-offs. Sit back and glory in the most entertaining 3 games of a Town fans life, of a neutrals casual interest and i guess, of 3 other National Leagues disbelief. Football at its finest, told through the voices of all involved.

Would a non fan enjoy this? I know football is tribal, i know its hard to support 'other teams' if tou are a fan. But, i think this story is worth a look for any fan kf football, not just GTFC fans.

Yet another Dan Maasdam 5 star performance
danielmaasdam17 January 2024
The first viewing brought tears to my eyes, the 2nd did as well. This incredibly well put together documentary really showcases every emotion in life.

A stand out performance by Dan Maasdam and Ryan Reynolds, a partnership I for one hope to see more of in the coming years of Hollywood.

This isn't a film just for Grimsby Town fans. Nor fans of Football nor sports. But for fans of Cinema and the arts.

I was walking down Grimsby Road when a little man with a magic lamp came out of Fuller Street and asked me to rub his lamp which granted me 3 wishes. My First wish (which came before world peace and the end of poverty by the way) was to reset my life back to January the 4th so I have the chance to experience this masterpiece for the first time all over again.

10/10.

Wow! A spine tingling insight of the 'shoe on the other foot' Welcome To Wrexham documentary
teamredstar1 March 2024
A proper Northern football club. A rundown Town and mismanaged for 20 years. Once so close to the heavy heights of reaching the Premiership and now harbouring between the lower end of the league and closer to the non league scene yet again.

This doc shows exactly what a football club means to it's supporters. The same as all other lower league clubs. It's not just 1 it's all of us! Weather you're Rochdale, Bristol Rovers or Macclesfield. We've ALL been there and every real football fan that travels home and away to what some may call a waste of time, we cant help it. It's part of our lives. It defines our whole week and from ' never going again', you always come back a few days later because it's in your DNA.

You often hear supporters og higher league clubs moaning because theyre only 8th in the Championship. Well count your lucky stars because in the blink of an eye youre looking back thinking ' God i wish we were still in that position'!

Youve gotta experience the lows to appreciate the highs and this movie will make even the hardened top flight fan realise that.

Amazing - Every football fan in the world needs to see this! Made by pride, not an injection of money!
ryanfox-835057 January 2024
This is absolutely incredible, what happened that season to Grimsby Town from pride, rather than a huge injection of money, and the story this tells and the scenes you will see is unbelievable. You will not see another football documentary/film like this. You can see exactly what this means to the town, the fans, the club, and every football fan in the world. After seeing numerous films and documentaries about football this is just something else, the way promotion was earned and seeing what it means to the club. It has everything, football scenes, comedic lines, emotional scenes. JUST WATCH THIS YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!

What a way to start the new year! A must watch film!
yungbludfan-926666 January 2024
It really was something... Best football documentary I've ever watched. It captured, the club, the players, the fans and a community spirit but just as importantly the history of Grimsby in its own right!! Well done to Jack Spring (the director) and Giles (the producer) for creating such a great film. It was so beautiful watching history being made and seeing how far the club has come. What really made this film was that was done with passion and very heartfelt. Watching the confidence build on and off the pitch, hats off to Jason and Andrew and Debbie!! I am so proud of all involved and certainly proud to live in Grimsby! I am proud to be a mariner! Once a mariner, always a mariner! Loved being a part of this history and a part of the red carpet premiere! ⚫⚪ can't wait to see what happens next... onwards and upwards! #keepchasingthedream #AllTownArentWe #UTM.

All the emotions
sandraritchie-940716 January 2024
Never thought the whole heart pounding, anxiety of the play-offs would come flooding back whilst watching this but it put us right back into those moments and the emotions we felt at those matches.

A great nod not only our local football team but how it positively impacts the community around it.

Brilliant from start to finish, capturing just how much Grimsby Town FC means to its supporters, its employees and the town as a whole.

Especially enjoyed the multi-generational feel the film encompassed, showing how families have been enjoying matches together over the years and that the personal match day traditions continue with each generation.

tonyparker-909806 January 2024
Wow! So many memories relived as a town fan. A truly remarkable season which would be a great watch for any football fan (apart from Notts County and Wrexham fans)! Engrossed from start to end and shows the heritage of both the club and the community. Great to see the difference and two lifelong fans in Jason Stockwood and Andrew Pettit made to the club, the fans and the whole community. Excellent production and direction but above all the stars of the show , those who dedicate their lives to Grimsby Town Football Club. I ended up still being nervous, even though I knew and loved the story at the time!!!. Credit to all involved.

A footballing fairytale... that actually happened!
chriskirk-789326 January 2024
The perfect love letter to our town and grand old club, told through the drama of probably the most incredible few weeks any of us Grimsby Town fans have ever experienced. A must watch for GTFC fans and locals, and a should watch for football fans looking for an antidote to the more glamorous side of football. Passion, commitment, belief, talent and ambition. It's all here in bucket loads. Well done and congrats to all involved in the production and the club for backing the project. Liam Emmerson's brilliant camerawork captures the pitchside drama perfectly. Looking forward to chapter two, the historic FA Cup run... Up the Mariners!

Grimsby Town FC's Never Say Die Season
will-443836 January 2024
"All Town Aren't We" is a film about Grimsby Town FC's dramatic 21/22 season in the National League - England's fifth division of professional football. Directed by Jack Spring this compelling documentary captures the highs and lows of the season, the essence of the football club and its passionate fans, blending dramatic pitchside camera work with interviews and official in game footage. It is an engaging and emotional journey for both football enthusiasts and those new to the sport.

But ultimately this film is more than a sports documentary; it's a celebration of resilience, community, and the enduring love affair between a town and its football club. "All Town Aren't We" stands as a testament to the profound impact football can have on a community.

Amazing feeling!
lennon_oconnor5 January 2024
Watched this when it first premiered after going through the playoffs and it honestly felt like I was going through it again, the feelings, the anxiousness and the nerve it was unreal and it almost felt like I was there again, even though I knew the outcome every time i was still anxious and nervous going through with it, this needs more recognition, what a town, what a club and most importantly what a team. Once a mariner, always a mariner especially to everyone involved, Hursty, Doig, mcatee, big SCANZZZZZZZZZ, cropper, maguire drew, big mani sizer wud and Abrahams, you all made history and are always a mariner no matter what!

rachsteel6 January 2024
I attended the premiere last night and couldn't have enjoyed it more.

Fabulous documentary reliving the fantastic play-off games for Grimsby Town; resulting in promotion.

A great job done by Jack Spring; the interviews with the two owners and the CEO make you proud to be a fan and part of the community. The players, fans and other contributors just show what it meant to us all and it was all captured brilliantly by Jack.

I can't praise it enough. Lovely to spot local sights and recognise fellow fans too. Try to watch it on the big screen if you can; though I shall definitely be watching it again when it's available to stream.

Not just for the Town fans.

A fabulous film and a brilliant premier to attend . Jack Spring encapsulated the rollercoaster that the fans experienced, my heart was thumping even though I knew the result !! Beautifully put together , directed and produced. A watch for any football fan but made me proud to be a GTFC supporter.

So interesting to listen to the thoughts and feelings of back room staff , management and fans .

Definitely a feel good film and refreshing to see Grimsby not just the football club but the town as well portrayed in this way , credit to Jack for achieving this.

Well done to all involved to come together and produce this piece of football history.
