The long wait for the Gossip Girl reboot just got longer.
The HBO Max update of the 2007-12 CW drama has been pushed to 2021, according to Vulture.
The popular teen drama series – which originally starred Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Ed Westwick, Penn Badgley, Chase Crawford, and Taylor Momsen, among others – was set to get a modern-day reboot, complete with a whole new cast on the new WarnerMedia-owned streamer.
Unfortunately, the series was set to go into production around the time the filming shutdowns brought on by the spread of Covid-19, effectively meaning a 2020 premiere would be unrealistic.
"They hadn’t even started production yet; they were in pre-production and ready to roll," HBO Max chief content officer Kevin Reilly recently told the outlet.
"Things that would have been really meaningful and high profile have gotten pushed back," he added of the decision.
The news is unsurprising, and it's better...

Although their show has been off the air since this past May, costars Katharine McPhee and Megan Hilty will have a mini-"Smash" reunion on a comedy web show, with hints at their performances being musical.
In the announcement for "It Could Be Worse," McPhee and Hilty are shown in an Instagram video sight-reading the lyrics to Lorde's "Royals." Watch the ten-second clip of the two starlets below. Warning: prepare to beg for more.
It's not yet known when in Season 2 of "It Could Be Worse" McPhee and Hilty will make their appearance, or what roles they'll take. "It Could Be Worse" stars "Smash" alum Wesley Taylor (Bobby, Seasons 1 and 2) as Jacob, a Broadway wannabe looking to make it big in a New York minute. Although he was cast in his first big Broadway show, he's often stuck at home tending to a needy long-term boyfriend, or is held back by his overbearing parents.

The pilot for A&E's "Occult" has just expanded by two as both Daniel Henney and Brennan Brown have signed on to co-star in the project, which already boasts a pretty impressive cast with Josh Lucas, Lynn Collins, and Agnes Bruckner.
The potential new series is written by James Wong ("The X-Files," "Millennium," "American Horror Story"), who will executive produce with Michael Bay and his partners at Platinum Dunes, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, producing.
"Occult" revolves around Dolan, an FBI agent (Lucas) who has returned from administrative leave after going off the deep end while investigating his wife’s disappearance. Eager to be back on the job, he is paired with an agent with her own complicated back story who specializes in the occult (Collins). Together, they will solve cases for the newly formed occult crimes task force. Bruckner will play Lucy, an attractive, edgy young soul caught up in the occult.
