The show is episodic but the characters grow linearly. With just 8 episodes however not much depth to it yet. It seems to be based on a webtoon but I've not read it so idk how accurate. It's actually fascinating to know that the lead is inspired by a real doctor named Lee Guk-jong. I'm giving additional kudos that they had onsite Doctor consultants so they can recreate the surgery scenes as grounded as possible.
I really love medical shows like Chicago med and House but this wasn't what I expected lol it's so chaotic. I love it. Especially on the character side...The characters are so dramatic. There's some dreaming sequences which I find funny. The acting is quite animated so that might turn some people off.. they're very loud. A lot of shouting and unprofessionalism. Definitely need a good amount of suspension of disbelief.
The lead is really good. He's the hand of god 100% good mc lol he can do basically almost everything. He's straightforward rude with the doctors but he cares about saving the lives of his patients. Honestly it feels more action show than drama. My favorite is during surgery scenes the bodies look so real. It can get quite bloody. Some episodes were quite touching while others I'm just laughing by how romanticized it was. There's a hero filter on this show which makes the villains very one note. I can't wait for season 2.

Without reading the synopsis, I thought this series would just be the typical romantic comedy medical k-drama, but I was so pleasantly surprised within 15 minutes of the first episode.
As someone who has watched k-dramas for 15 years, this series was the perfect balance of comedy and action - it was so refreshing to see a confident and skilled (lead) main character who showed no signs of hesitation at crucial moments. It was also really nice to see how developed the supporting characters were. Not to say that there aren't scenes that logically/realistically can't happen irl but it doesn't necessarily take away from the overall plot in my opinion.
I easily finished watching this in two days because I couldn't stop myself from wanting to find out what happened next. I'm really hoping for a season 2!!
After watching this, I think it would be interesting to see how this is similar/different to the webtoon that it is actually based on.

Being a doctor, I find medical shows a bit tricky, discrepancies put me off the show. But this one was good, CGI and effects were nicely done, Albeit one doctor round the clock on call, like shown for Dr. (anus), is not possible anywhere, let alone in a tertiary care hospital.
I liked it for its content, length, focus and driving the message about how trauma patients and medical services should not be so much about MONEY, lives should come foremost.
However, most annoying is the 'professor of surgery' being flabbergasted by trauma patient, simply declining surgeries and not having nerves. You do not become professor of surgery in a teaching tertiary hospital without literally thousands of operations. At that level of expertise, surgeons are calm, decisive and are not flustered by trauma or gunshot or such wounds. I understand that it provided comic relief - but specialist surgeons around the world would be squirming on such idiotic display- lol trust me.

At first I was going to think this is will not really be that exciting as I thought, but when I watched the trailer. It got me hooked, and I decided to watch the full 8 episode of this drama and when I say you will not be disappointed, YOU WILL NOT BE.
I really love THE MC right here, like he was so fierce and so freaking egoistic but in good way, like it's really rare to find a hot head MC! Plus he's a man, not just some young boy that everyone always love.
All of the cases of the operation when he becomes the doctor is really entertaining, how this drama really playing with your emotions like a roller coaster and that was the best part of it!
Just watch it really! It's all no romance in here, I promise you guys. Just a doctor trying his best heal his patients in his fullest.

I love to see other reviews of things I personally have watched.....makes me chuckle
I can't remember a series I have enjoyed as much as this from the first few minutes to the end.
It is rare to have writers, actors, directors and producers come together to make a drama series "sing" to the audience and keep them smiling at the same time. It takes real skill.
Anyone, who has been on the receiving end of REAL medical trauma care at a top notch hospital (as I have been), will be the first to tell you it is serious business but adding a bit of light comedy is so much appreciated.
The actors did such an excellent job and 10 stars on the script..... I look forward to more of this!
I would love to see a second season for this. It was nice that all 8 episodes were dropped to watch at the same time but I could not stop watching.....as I said before.... MARVELOUS!
A big THANK YOU to wonderful entertainment!

I absolutely adored this movie, or shall I say series, for its brilliantly crafted plot. It's rare that I find myself so engrossed that I binge-watch an entire drama in just one day, but this one hooked me from the start. The scenes oscillated between hilariously funny moments that had me laughing out loud and gripping, intense drama that kept me on the edge of my seat.
While the characters themselves were often unlikeable, which was a testament to the exceptional acting, this only added to the allure of the series. It was fascinating to watch such well-rounded performances where the actors brought depth to characters that were easy to despise yet impossible to ignore. The writing was sharp, the direction was spot-on, and the production values were top-notch, making every aspect of this series truly lovable.
Kudos must go to the entire team behind this project - from the scriptwriters to the directors, the cinematographers to the costume designers, and especially the actors who breathed life into this compelling world. Every element worked in harmony to create an unforgettable viewing experience. I give it a solid 10/10 for not just entertaining but for leaving a lasting impression with its storytelling prowess.

This is an excellent medical drama that is actually about the medicine rather than the medical staff seeing how many different places in the hospital there are where they can hook up. The three leads are great in their roles....the arrogant but extremely talented trauma surgeon; the young, insecure assistant and the feisty senior nurse. Ju Ji-hoon,, Choo Young-woo and Shin Ha-young bring these characters to life with just the right amount of arrogance, rookie anxiousness and steadfast foundation respectively.
The series has a perfect mix of dramatic medical rescues/surgeries and office politics with a small dose of comedy. Once I started watching, I couldn't stop. And now that I've watched all of the episodes, I pray that there will be a season 2 in the future.

Wow.
This was one entertaining show. A medical drama, with intense action and disarmingly funny scenes that keep you engaged and very entertained. Acting is superb, with the lead characters emerging throughout the series run. It's about the establishment of a trauma center, with the expected bureaucratic backlash.
The charismatic lead is one of those idealistic hero's that full motivation is not revealed until the last episode. His young protégés are note perfect and add both an emotional depth and comedic charm. It's intense, but releases the tension with, honestly, laugh out loud comedic moments that always satisfy.
Production values are great, with cinematic flourishes that signal great talent that brought this to the TV screen. It may be a one off, but I'd watch season 2 in a heartbeat!

This drama is based on a Korean webtoon, but it is meaningful in that it reflects the reality of Korea by using a famous real trauma specialist as a model. However, the drama is not heavy, and it has the charm of watching all the episodes until the end with the excellent acting of the various actors centered around the main characters, the fast development, and the appropriate wit and humor. Joo Ji-hoon, who plays the main character doctor, was a great casting for this drama, and it became a well-made medical drama despite the relatively small budget compared to other dramas. Now I look forward to the next season.

Series writers, directors, and other such craftsmen are masters of misdirection. In THE TRAUMA CODE, we're encouraged to focus, indeed obsess, about Baek Kang-hyeok, the series' enigmatic, superman doctor, while all manner of insanity is swept under the rug.
What kind of insanity? The buffoonish behavior of a certain hysterical hospital administrator who screams, yells, and bloviates while bodies are piling up in the corridors. The fact that said hospital has such a skeletal staff that minimally trained people are recruited to do serious surgery whenever the head dude isn't around. The constant catastrophizing as our hero theatrically attends to one patient after another-once under a hail of bullets, once while clinging precariously to the side of a cliff. Each time the viewers are assured that the patient's chances are slim to none-but somehow they all pull through. (Well, almost all.)
I know. This is standard fare for a medical drama, especially one based on a webtoon. And, I have to admit, it's done smoothly and almost (but not quite) convincingly here.

Honestly, I have no words to describe how much I love Trauma Code: Heroes on Call. From the very first episode, I was completely hooked. It's the perfect blend of comedy and emotional depth-one moment, I'm laughing out loud, and the next, I'm tearing up. That balance between humor , action and heartfelt moments makes this drama stand out from all the medical series I've watched..
Ji-Hoon, the lead actor, absolutely nailed his role. His performance was so natural and engaging that it felt like he truly became his character. Every expression, every moment of vulnerability, and every burst of energy made him a joy to watch. But it's not just him the entire cast delivered outstanding performances, making the story feel even more real nd immersive.
The relationships between the characters feel so genuine, and you can't help but root for them as they navigate the challenges of their demanding job.
Everything about this drama is top-notch-the writing, the cinematography, the pacing, it all comes together perfectly. I think the only bad thing abt Trauma code is that it ends so quickly nd I genuinely hope they'll make a Season 2 because I'm not ready to say goodbye to them. If you haven't watched this yet, you're missing out on an incredible experience!

I'm 20 minutes into episode one and I'm cracking up at the "emergency" scenario presented. There are some huge cultural oddities like a random dude doing medical procedures on somebody and the cops not tackling his butt. Mr cool is so busy being cool doc that he's chit chatting and teaching class during the "emergency" I mean I know the show needs to allow for drama but this stretches the imagination a bit and has me laughing. I think I'm used to American medical shows that really make you feel the seconds of an emergency, this one here has us being told there's an emergency while we SEE everyone missing the sense of urgency a real emergency situation presents. That kind of disconnect on a show that wants to be taken seriously is funny to me.
Hopefully it'll get better.
Hopefully it'll get better.
Best doctor k-drama of this year
This is the best 2025 k-drama. "The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call," a South Korean medical drama released on Netflix in January 2025, has garnered significant attention and diverse reviews from both critics and audience. I was a big fan of the web novel Trauma Center: Golden Hour, I was always thought how good it will be if it made into a anime or series. When I saw the teaser on Netflix I really liked it and skipped a beat. Even though there were some changes, missed out and mixing of scenes it is well made and worth it. I really hope it will get more seasons. Atleast one more season or a movie. I hope the author will be able to create more amazing works. Thank you for the team to made it into a series and this wonderful. This is a Gem of a series . Action packed, great acting, well directed and made . Imagine it was a high budget with such a strong cast dramatic, gripping and just brilliantly done. There really should be a season 2..
There are moments in life when we stand at a crossroads, where the choice before us is not just about career or comfort, but about purpose about who we are meant to be. "The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call" is more than a high-stakes medical drama; it is a testament to the raw, unflinching humanity of heroism the kind that demands sacrifice, conviction, and the courage to stand in the fire when others would step away. Trauma center emphasizes the importance of every second counting. A term that appeared in the drama is the golden hour; the golden hour is a period of time when a patient has the best chance of survival. Baek Kang Hyuk is the true image of what a doctor's should be. He shows us that human lives is the most prior above all anything else. He gives all his calmness in saving patients lives.
Each episode shines a light on roles each person plays in a team. This emotional rollercoaster helps you appreciate the people fighting for our survival. (Doctors, nurses, paramedics, and soldiers to name a few.) Great acting and directing! The cast of actors is fabulous and fit well together. The actors portrayed their characters very well and the plot of the story was truly amazing . Great chemistry between the actors.
"The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call" reminds us that true heroism is never easy. It is messy, painful, and often comes at a cost. But it is also deeply, profoundly human. This series does not just tell a story it makes you feel the weight of every choice, every loss, and every victory. Can't get enough of this series, fast paced, thrilling, touching, witty and funny all at the same time. Excellent choice of cast, love Ju Ji-Hoon. Watching it again for the 2nd time. Hoping for season 2.

I began watching "The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call" after reading glowing reviews, expecting a compelling medical drama. However, I was taken aback by the subpar acting; the performances felt forced and unnatural, making it difficult to connect with the characters. The humor seemed misplaced, and I found myself questioning how anyone could find the jokes amusing. Perplexed, I wondered, "What is this?" It was only later that I discovered the series is adapted from a webtoon, which explains its exaggerated and stylized presentation. This realization provided some context, but it didn't enhance my viewing experience. If you're not a fan of webtoon adaptations or prefer more realistic storytelling, this show might not resonate with you. The blend of over-the-top acting and humor may appeal to some, but it wasn't to my taste. In summary, unless you're inclined towards webtoon-inspired narratives, "The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call" may not meet your expectations.

It's not like the usual medicine-doctor series . It has a bit of comedy and thrill in it. Not boring at all . Very engaging till the end . Ive enjoyed a show this much after a long time . Totally loved it . The chemistry between all doctors and paramedics was on point. If you are a medical student you would love it . Not even a single second is boring. This series has comedy/ action/ thrill everything in one . And watching this make me wanna opt for surgical trauma . You have to watch this , im surely medicine student would love it . Plus its a but informative too , regarding surgeries and all.

It has been awhile, maybe since Hospital Playlist, that I am 100% hooked on a k-medical drama.
It is simply fun to watch from beginning to end, even as it is over the top in its depiction of medical procedures. The main character, Dr Baek, in all his arrogance, never put you off as the audience. He carried the depiction of that character and his single mindedness in saving his patients extremely well. All the supporting characters are owning their roles.
The storyline is not overly complicated, but it is extremely addictive.
The only downside that it is shorter than the usual 12-16 episodes of k-drama.
I really can have another 8 episodes!!
Well done, Netflix! We need more of this!!!!

Okay, let me tell you-this show had me hooked from the very first episode. You know those series where you think, "I'll just watch one episode," and then suddenly it's 3 AM, and you're still glued to the screen? Yeah, The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call is exactly that kind of show.
The Story That Keeps You On Edge: The show takes you into the chaotic, adrenaline-fueled world of trauma responders, and man, does it make you feel like you're right there with them. Every episode is packed with nail-biting emergencies, heart-stopping moments, and stories that hit you right in the feels. But it's not just about the cases-it dives into the lives of the heroes behind the scenes, their struggles, relationships, and what keeps them going when the pressure's sky-high.
🎭 The Characters You'll Fall In Love With: Let's talk about the cast-oh my gosh, they are so real, so raw, and so GOOD. You'll find yourself cheering for them, crying with them, and sometimes yelling at the screen when they're going through tough times (or making bad decisions). Every character has depth, and you'll love how they show the humanity behind the heroism.
🎵 The Vibes Are On Point: The music? Perfect. The visuals? Stunning. You can feel the tension when the alarms go off, the heartbreak when things go wrong, and the triumph when lives are saved. It's like every element of the show is crafted to make you feel everything right along with the characters.
💡 Why You Should Watch It: This isn't just a show about medical emergencies-it's a show about people, their courage, their flaws, and their resilience. It's a reminder of how precious life is and how much of a difference one person can make. Honestly, it's the kind of series that sticks with you long after the credits roll.
✨ Final Thought: If you're into shows that make you laugh, cry, and sit on the edge of your seat all at once, The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call is IT. Trust me-once you start watching, you'll be recommending it to everyone you know.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely binge-worthy!

I finished this series in one go. Every scene was so well written, no unnecessary or cringe plots. The actors were perfectly selected for their role, no pretty face playing a soldier. The producers, cameraman, scriptwriters and actors went above and beyond to give us even such short scenes to give more context. It was actually so perfect I could cry. I have watched korean dramas for the past 15 years, finally a kdrama worth watching after a loooong time. It gave me descendants of the sun vibes but SO MUCH better with no cringe romantic plots. I am hoping there will be a season 2. I hope it gets the attention it deserves.

Ju JI HOON DAEBAKK .. SERIOUSLY THE ACTING IS TOP NOTCH .. I read the webtoon and watching this drama got me chills. Kudos to the drama team. Fine selection of actors .. everyone plays their parts and great drama which appreciates the medical team . Please please please give us season 2 .. we need moreeeee of Dr Baek Trauma Centre ... I love their teamwork in the drama. The storyline is not too serious and the writer added nice touch of comedy in each episodes. I love the clumsy No 1 and also nurse Gangster character as well. All the main cast are the best choice I couldn't come out with a better suggestion. I love you Dr Kang Baek Hyuk.

Eh, well, I know why I stay away from medical and crime dramas made by Koreans, or East Asians in general, because I have seen so many American ones (and quite a few European gems) that it's next to impossible to compete in this genre. They got it down to a beat in terms of gritty and raw.
Now the Korean flavour works sometimes but not really in these genres, not for me. I've been watching E. R. and others and crime dramas since I was practically in high school. You can't fool me with flashy twists out of nowhere and characters having fits and power trips every five minutes, it looks so fake and hurts the authenticity. So, if you don't have that kind of reference to compare it to, sure, go ahead and watch this and others like it. In fact the only reason I tried it is because everybody raves about it and it's a short format, which is always more approachable than the standard 16 episode drama. It has its good parts, I think the trauma scenes look very realistic, but the childish corporate backstabbing and the doctors and chiefs behaving like five year olds whose cookie got taken away are just not my cup of tea at all. Dr. Baek is an enjoyable lead, even with his narcissistic persona and his No 1 provides a likeable foil and after all I kind of enjoyed it, but 3.5 is the best I can give it. It is by no means revolutionary and not even special.
Just watch This is Going to Hurt. It's the most recent one I can think of that excels at rawness and authenticity.

This is a drama where life-and-death moments meet humour and heartwarming camaraderie. The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call takes you on a thrilling and emotional journey where the ER isn't just a workplace but a crucible for relationships, resilience, and redemption.
Narration is compelling, direction and camera work elevates the storytelling.
Though there is Korean style over the top acting or lots of shouting sometimes but Series is also fun & inspiring.
There's character development.
In the end, it shows the resilience of the human spirit, the importance of teamwork, and the unspoken bonds that make a family. Medical dramas aren't my type of thing but I enjoyed this.
I am happy to see Choo Young Woo after a while.
This medical drama is based on webtoon.
It's fast-paced, fun, intriguing, bingeable.

Since I'm medical doctor,I found this show completely unbelievable
Even I asked chatgpt about differences between Iran medical specialists and south Korean medical specialists All other doc s but main character were completely inexperienced and naive,They got shocked by every single emergency patient that comes to ER.
Acting was kind of weird and characters were loud and noisy
They screamed and paniced in every situation.
I was thinking about main actor and time he needed to be this much skillful Years of education and training is required to be a doctor like this Not only doctor but also a soldier ...
