My heart has never beaten this fast for anyone. I have never spent the whole night awake thinking about someone either. You think this is the spell's doing? No, it's love.

This drama is absolutely brilliant, with all the ingredients that will hook you from the beginning.

I hesitated for a bit whether I should Give this drama a 10 just because I enjoyed it so much but there's a few flaws I couldn't ignore so a 9 it is.

It has a perfect mix of comedy, romance, drama and mystery.

The main plot regarding the course and the past lives was extremely interesting, i love how this was intertwined in the form of dreams and flashbacks with the present, and also how this was sprinkled throughout the series and not all displayed at once, so you kept discovering more pieces.

The chemistry between the main leads is absolutely off the roof and they share so many intense scenes together ( both of sweet love or heartbreaking moments), which gives a very real perspective of their love to the audience.

Rowoon as the main lead is amazing in this drama. He keeps growing year after year and his range of emotions is outstanding. He nails the comedy , specially the comedy, in this drama and you will find yourself eagerly waiting for his scenes. The way he You will cry of laughter or your heart will break alongside his character's, that's how great his acting is. He is honestly becoming one of my favorite kdrama actors.

Cho Bo Ah as the FM was awesome too, again, great chemistry with Rowoon, looking forward to see her next project.

My only issue with this drama and the reason why im not giving the highest score, is that they add a bit too many subplots in the mix making it a bit chaotic to keep the focus in what's important. I was expecting a better resolution for the main plot perhaps. Or maybe they wanted that exact outcome. Who knows.

Overall was a fantastic enjoyable drama, specially because of the acting and the chemistry of the actors, I laughed, cried and felt all of their passion and emotions and I truly recommend you to watch it too!

A good show, minus one star!
priyashashank796 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It has been a good series to watch so far, though I am yet to see the last two episodes which will air next week. I like reincarnation themes dramas, and though I feel ashamed to admit this now, it is the first series of Rowoon that I have watched, and I've been beating myself up for not watching any of his shows though so many of them have been in my watchlist for long. Rowoon is simply put, an amazing actor who doesn't necessarily need dialogues to act well, his eyes do a lot of acting on their own, and he captures attention even when he is just standing quietly, doing nothing. The story of this drama isn't very original, that said, it is still quite entertaining, and keeps one hooked and looking forward to the drama episode after episode. The female lead has acted well too, but she acts better in the scenes where she doesn't need to smile. I saw her the first time in the series The Forest and liked her work. The second ML is good looking too and justifies his role. The only reason I've deducted one star is that I found myself skipping the parts where they have shown the romance/interaction of the older office couple. They were an unnecessary addition to the story and didn't manage to keep my attention.

Rowoon+Bo-ah <3
riniiba13 October 2023
Critically speaking the series deserve 5/10. The flow of story is pretty random, story itself was weak. I liked the costume design though.

But the reason I gave it 9/10 is simply because this series was not meant for critical assessment. The whole intention was to make the audience take the back seat, turn off cynicism and just enjoy. I would say it was successful in making me feel what it intended to- Romantic!

The chemistry between Hung-Jo and Sinyu was critically lame, yet non-critically adorable, funny and cute. Actor Rowoon and Bo-ah were perfect together. Specially Rowoon showed his acting prowess. He gives brilliant yet subtle facial expressions. I watched him on "she would never know" and "the king's affection" and I hope he thinks about acting in movies, and on more serious script. He displayed a lot of potential, and can be something really big and global. Bo-ah is the the cutest, I felt like squeezing her cheeks, haha. Hope to see this pair again.

A bit of a hot mess but enjoyable
lina-balbuckaite23 September 2023
There are some issues as others point out more eloquently with the filming and the plot/continuity being a bit all over the place, but at the same time the drama is really enjoyable and has lots of nice scenes, be it funny, romantic or just beautiful. The interaction between the leads is good, it's like they have they own funny (bickering) language, and also FL is a great ar counteracting the ML in a way that it is clear that she cares for him but not is also not a pushover, makes him go through a character development. By contrast it can then seem that the FL is not going through as much character development but I think she is getting more mature in love too.

I LOVE IT
distrollercbs14 October 2023
Jo Bo Ah and Rowoon have an insane chemistry, they nailed it.

The cinematography and performances are great.

Another key point is the songs, you can't stop listening to them. They make the scenes unforgettable.

The story is simple but hooks you in.

I loved it from beginning to end. In my case it never bored me.

I recommend it especially if you love romance. There are very beautiful scenes between the main characters.

I liked that the drama had a combination of several genres, because I love that you can experience various emotions.

It will make you cry, laugh and scream.

I'm gonna miss this drama.

Great drama with mystery, withcraft, and a whole lot of comedy.
Omma4ewdbi25 August 2023
Brilliant drama with great acting all around. The red hand sequence is truly scary and Rowoon did a marvelous job portraying a man who is cursed. The cinematography and directing and the OST at the end of Episode 1 are all exceptionally made. The bickering between the main leads are funny. I think all cast come with great chemistry. Boah and Rowoon showed how comfortable they were on sets, and this translates into their acting. So far we only have two episodes. The ending of episode 2 shows how Rowoon is a great actor. The boy delivers in his acting time and time again. This time he showed more maturity and excellence. He is meant for great heights! Congratulations to the team. DWY is number 1 in 15 countries just with 1 episode airing on Netflix. That's a tremondous feat.

Thanks for a Binge Worthy Story
lsims-8852211 October 2023
Like soap operas from my college days, this story had all the elements. A face slapped. Dramatic rescue. A cat fight between two women. Love and people are messy. General Hospital worthy entertainment. Lead characters have great chemistry. Would love to see more stories portrayed by them. Scenes meant to be funny are funny. Scenes meant to be dramatic are dramatic. Subtitles in English were spot on. Really sparked my interest in learning the Korean language. Soundtrack was good. Added Mamamoo song 'Hip' to my playlist. I don't watch reality shows so thank you for creating a binge worthy series.

better than expected
podgilazagain27 August 2023
At first, the short story talks about the 300-year-old curse that looks ordinary, nothing very interesting, but after watching it, there is a really fun and interesting storyline. It's a curse that makes you want to know the story behind it. Makes us want to know what happened both in the future and in the past, including incurable diseases, mysterious hands, curses, how it relates to the heroine and what happened in the past life. Above all else, Rowoon And Jo Bo Ah, who plays the lead role, has good acting skills that are different from their past works. Both of their performances are very suitable for this role. I will continue to follow until the end.

Nice but somewhat disappointed
smritisinha-8837113 October 2023
Beginning was good, but series lacks to show that people learn from their mistakes. It potrayed the female character as the dumbest person who gets into problem as she does same mistake again and again. Going to meet the psycho devil alone is not what a smart person or a brave person. Same way she opened the door in the previous episode which portrayed how dumb she is who didn't think before doing so.

Story is good but somehow it portrayed the main character as the most dumb person.

Actors are good acting is good.

Even the dumbest person would not open door when they are already aware of the issues.

It doesn't show her brave or strong character. It's dumb.

Rowoon's acting skill
nabihaislamtariq13 October 2023
Some people found this boring... but for me it's an exciting one.... Both the male lead (Rowoon) and female lead (Jo Bo-Ah) did grate...Their chemistry was so so so good... Why Rowoon is so cute... Actually both of them are cute.. But I liked Rowoon's acting skills... Almost in every scene I thought that how that can be an act when it seems so real... Some more things I must say...The second male lead was great also... It was also funny and pretty watching Mr. Gong and Ms. Ma's chemistry... And Shin-yoo's father and mother... Those characters were also amazing.. And about the story,I liked it...

The leads are a cute couple.
dockie-9410515 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I liked the past life/current life plot line. The two lead actors were good together. They had great chemistry and teased and argued well together. Rowoon did a good job of trying not to like her when under the influence of the spell. I especially liked how comfortable they were physically. Most Rom-Coms show the leads being very stiff with each other. Acting as if a touch on the hand is a big deal. The scene where she jumped on him on the bed and they rolled around laughing was fun. I did feel it was a little slow and really wished they had not included the two female co-workers who were supposed to be comic relief. They were just annoying. When will the writers and directors ever stop making the female leads so unbelievably dumb! That is my biggest complaint with this show and others. At least she wasn't crying constantly like in other shows. I think S. Korea TV must use more gallons of "Fake Tears" than any other country. One request......yes, Rowoon looks pretty with lipstick on but not more lipstick than all the women,,,okay!

Cute, funny, great casts
nofitagunawan8 September 2023
Watching this without high expectation since got nothing else to watch. Suprisingly got hooked on since eps 1. It is a refreshing, funny, cute romance drama. Unusual but very interesting. I am not a fan of Rowoon's acting before, but this one, he nailed it 100%. Jo Boah did well too, i love her character. All the actors are great. Nothing too cringe, all well executed. Well done writers and director.

Now i am on eps 6 and can't wait for the next one. It was that addictive 😁.

So many heart fluttering moments. And also so funny and cute that made me smile the whole entire episodes. So happy to find this drama. A must watch !

Decent, but nothing new, and WAY too long
divemabini28 October 2023
Somewhat enjoyable, mainly because the side characters are just that...characters. They add levity to what is a pretty dull romantic story. The dullness is compounded by the fact that this series is WAY too long. It could have been 10 episodes. Maybe even 8 episodes. There are times when the same thing (boy does something, girl leaves boy, girl/boy get into danger, get miraculously saved, reveal some new character traits, and reset for the next episode) happens four or five episodes in a row.

Compound this with the overused Korean Romantic Drama tropes of: 1. Love Triangles that are BORING and always get resolved by convenient twists of fate. 2. School Bullying - yes, this one has it too. Yawn., and 3. The circular and extremely annoying logic behind the "I hate you, now I love you, but I can't be with you, I miss you, but I'll hurt you, but you take me back" cycle that is so overused it causes you to groan in exasperation.

Lastly, the lead, who has fended for her own for years, generally doesn't seem to be able to stand up to anyone. How did she survive to adulthood? She's so passive and meek for the first 12 episodes it is sickening.

Started out OK, but second half is unbearably annoying. Only spoiler is at the end
aranH-123-5605422 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This show is hard to rate because the main cast actually did a fantastic job acting, and a lot of the directing/pacing is well done, and the story is even unique, interesting, and at times gripping! But man oh man, the writing (particularly for the main couple) was so obnoxiously stupid, particularly in the second half, it just eventually really ruined the show...

The first half is kinda good, it had plenty of thrilling moments, some mystery, and am interesting premise. As for the characters, it was almost like a guilty pleasure, like the characters are so stupid and immature, but the leads have good chemistry and you want to root for them anyway, and for about 6-8 episodes, I looked forward to the next.

But it quickly degenerated after that to the point of being almost unwatchable. The writing is just so obnoxiously brainless... like characters are doing things that (A) completely conflict with their earlier established character, and (B) no sane human being would do... No amount of willing suspension of disbelief will hold up. It's just lazy, stupid writing at several points to try and force drama.

SPOILERS: At the end of episode 14, after a creepy stalker who has broken into the female lead's house to steal her clothes, tried to break in a second time, terrified and harassed her to the point she doesn't feel safe in her own home, LITERALLY shoved her into a giant pit and tried to BURY HER ALIVE, and stabbed the male lead (almost fatally).... He then calls her and says, "hey, meet me alone in a park at night, or I might hurt your boyfriend again"... and without telling a single person, literally just shows up, alone, at night, to be murdered...

Circumstances happen so she gets saved. The police show up, the psycho escaped again, they'll continue looking for him... and as male lead is driving her home, she's like: "you know what, just let me off here, I can take the bus".... like... I don't adequate have words to describe how infuriatingly IDIOTIC that writing is...

Ultimately, what could have been an interesting, unique show was ruined by repeated moments of horrible, beyond amateur character writing. Really made me hate the show towards the end, even though I had found it entertaining initially.

WOW
doug2go12 October 2023
This series was an emotional roller coaster - I am rating the series a 10 but rated episode #12 a 4 - I was so discussed with the direction and complications being thrown in at the same time - but the show runner unraveled the complications and mystery over the next 4 episodes that totally flipped my opinion about the series - it was scary, heartwarming and off the charts romantic before it was all over - it had story loops not seen in most K Romances - Hallmark would not have approved of how close the two Romantic leads got in the last few episodes - I certainly do - the Romance came much closer to a 21st century romance than any Hallmark Romance designed for 12 year old's will ever get.

Fun Romantic Fantasy Drama
PalmBeachG14 October 2023
Kim Ra Woon makes this series with not only his handsomeness but his good vibes and brings romance and happiness to the drama. The FL seems to have decent chemistry in her role as well. A reincarnation themed fantasy where they have had a 300 year relationship includes some historical scenes and great costuming into the drama. The side story of the co- worker downstairs was good as well as the mayors daughter to bring in tension to the love story is good but not so sure about the comedic older couple side story. Great ending and glad they spent enough time on it. Romantic and happy brought by the ML.

Female Lead Character Annoying
npoc-7410510 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The writer & director failed epically with the female lead (FL) character. The FL is so annoying, immature, childish, etc. Excessively Aegyo... Her babyish, cutesy voice made me cringe. She freaking cries & hides like a child because she didn't get invited to eat with people that she already knows didn't want to be around her. She skips & twirls around like a child. I also noticed at times when an attractive male appeared in the series, adult women are staring, giggling, whispering & taking pictures of the male. Why? Yes, the series is for entertainment, but you can still achieve that without unrealistic & excessive behavior.

It's good.
danigerch17 January 2024
I think fans who have been watching kdramas for a while will be able to find familiar elements in what makes Destined with You: Candy female lead, Chaebol male lead, aloof but cool second lead, unhinged girlfriend, past lives and spells. It honestly feels like describing a kdrama from the 2010s, like My Girlfriend is a Gumiho.

My issue is the script. The way the story is structured makes the situations feel repetitive, with no proper development in some of the gaps within the logic of the kdrama.

The kdrama mostly works because of the undeniable chemistry between Jo Bo Ah and Rowoon. They both give really good performances, full of charm and heartfelt moments. I have been following both actors since the star of their respective careers and I am delighted to see them grow in their craft.

The secondary characters were entertaining enough but, honestly, forgetful. Yura and Ha Joon being the standouts, along side some veteran actors that overstayed their welcome in my opinion.

The production quality of Destined with You is solid, and it really shows when it "flashbacks" to the Joseon period, the transitions between dream, reality and memory it's amazing and so pretty to look at.

Overall, I think this is an entertaining watch with some issues that can be ignored if you are looking to have a good time with a fantasy rom-com.

Its like reading a book and watching it come to life! I loved this drama!!
salvidrez-1137524 October 2023
The story was so well written and the acting was wonderful to watch! So what if its a little cliché, what show isn't!? You hit every feeling and emotion while watching this show, anger, sadness, happiness, loneliness. I truly loved the past life aspect of it, the love and deceit, it got me asking why did he do that? How could he? And when the truth is revealed, everything falls into place. Not to mention the comedy in the show, it was great! The two main actors in the show worked perfectly together, I truly believed they were destined for each other! (All acting was on point!) Korean past is so wonderful to watch, I loved how they gave us a glimpse of it. I really want to see more dramas such as this one.

I highly recommend this show, best show I have seen this year!

Improves with each episode
wheatley-2023029 October 2023
I nearly gave up on this during the early episodes. The tone was rather uneven with hints of horror, thriller, comedy, romance and everything else muddled up together into a rather confusing mess. But gradually some of these distractions are lost and the thrust of the storyline becomes clearer and so more engaging.

At the centre is a story about love triumphing against so many difficulties. If such a story lights your fire, as it does mine, then it is worth persevering and discovering the enjoyment that lies in wait.

By the end I was sufficiently engaged to smile broadly, but not to shed tears. Smiling broadly is more than enough to warrant a watch.

SUPER CUTE
sarahsrour17 October 2023
I watched this show in 1 day, im super busy yet i couldnt resist. The couple had this cute moments and Rowoon is now my favoriteeeee.

I saw some reviews that say the female lead was foolish and rowoon was a cheater, but they literally mirrored some real life incidents. And the female lead was not a fool or dumb, she reflected so many personalities, the one that handles a job perfectly, one where she has a crush and she wants to make it work, one where she is happy in a relation ship, and you can see her character evolving at the end.

Rowoon reflected some men who are in a relationship but they dont feel they belong to their partner, i really liked his character.

Watchable at best
rachelle-fabre5 January 2024
I like Rowoon but I really had a hard time.liking this drama, I when through with it because I invested already 4 episodes and I felt like I had to force myself to watch the rest, I honestly didn't really pay attention to the dialogue., I was really waiting to see this drama at first but, even when I trie I just couldn't enjoy it. Well I just didn't like it no chemistry between the two main characters. I liked the second an male lead with the female lead better than female lead with the man lead. The only thing that I really enjoyed was some of the music tho. Overall I just felt like I lost 16+ hours of my life, won't make the same mistake.

The main characters are so annoying!
godin_al3 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Well, it started out good.

Sadly, it started to tank. The main female character is such a fool in so many ways. After finding an ancient spell book, she decides to cast one but like a fool, does it so stupidly to where everyone ends up getting affected. Then the question is, do the spells even work? Still, she is asked to remedy this situation but screws it up. I think because secretly she wants it to fail.

Meanwhile the main male character pursues Hong-Jo even though he's in a relationship. He goes after her so much that it gets them in trouble, yet when confronted, he doesn't really take any responsibility.

Then, a stalker enters into the picture. While Shin-yu worries over Hong-Jo, he helps buy her some items for self defense. Yet does she use any of them when she should? No.

I'm struggling to keep watching this. The main male character is a coward who can't even end his relationship while interested in another while he keeps putting himself in situations where he can get caught. Even if it's under superstitious circumstances, take a break, end it, just till it gets sorted.

The main female character is an idiot who acts like the typical foolish damsel in distress who needs a man to constantly save her. Yet if she wasn't so stupid, it would be a lot easier to root for her.
