A good episode that focuses on character flaws, this was Alex's episode through and through, we learned more about his past, his tendencies and how his good hearted nature navigates in a sad world that destroys everything so dear to him.
Even with the clear character focused scenario, Traci was not forgotten, she shines in here as much as Diaz, her relationship with him flourishes even more as we learn her motivations aren't merely professional, she's on a crusade to catch everyone who murdered her partner and Diaz seem to be a beacon of hope for her, his failure as a person would result in Traci feeling the same, as a failure.
She is clearly doing her best to make sure he doesn't suffer the same fate her partner did, Diaz is divided between duty and emotion and also between kindness and rage.
Character-driven episode, used mostly to evolve and explain what was already sort of established, they have good characters here, i hope they evolve them and don't miss the clear potential for the storyline.
The only thing i need to say is... this series needed to be on the 24 episodes or the 14 episodes system, this vibe the series gives off and the storytelling just BEG for more episodes, but i know it's almost impossible for tv shows to have that ammount.
That said, nice episode.
