Bruce Morris and David Jennings, as well as their wives, Annie and Sarah, are your homegrown, All-American married couples. They have been inseparable friends since high school. To further add to their unbelievable dream lives, they are even next-door neighbors. However, when Sarah loses her battle to cancer, it changes the dynamic of their friendship. Time, along with the obligations and challenges of parenthood, work, and daily living, drive Annie, David, and Bruce farther apart from each other.
However, a unique circumstance will emerge and reunite them, in the most unusual way. When Bruce goes away on a business trip to Dallas, he requests and entrusts David to look after Annie and their two daughters during his absence. David kindly obliges, as Annie and David start to reminisce about the old days, spend more time together, search each other's souls, and ultimately develop a clandestine love affair.
During his business trip, a lonely and exasperated Bruce will also give in to temptation, in the form of a local, straightforward, and sassy businesswoman. Upon Bruce's return, all appears normal until daily life gradually transforms, leading to distant and dishonest behavior from Annie, David, and the kids. Bruce soon discovers the tryst, as Annie also learns of Bruce's rendezvous, as their relationship dissolves rapidly and raucously. Bruce and David will also see their friendship deteriorate, as anger and violence will ensue and escalate. Everyone's lives will be forever altered, as the results will prove dangerous and fatal.
