Terrible and Overrated
claudio_carvalho21 April 2017
In a small town, Blue Jean (Wren Walker) is the owner of a strip club that grieves the death of her boyfriend Lucas. She decided to sell the club and she is promoting a farewell night for clients. Four Mexican workers come to the bar to celebrate the oil they found in a coal mine but they do not feel well. When they go to the restroom, they turn into bizarre creatures. Meanwhile Blue's stepson, the troublemaker Logan (Madison J. Loos), arrives in the bar in a stolen car chased by two police officers. He hides in Blue's office but soon people are attacked by the monsters wreaking havoc on the club. Blue Jean and the other survivors have to fight to destroy the creatures and save their lives.

"Peelers" is a terrible horror film with a storyline that is a sub product of "Zombie Strippers". However "Peelers" is messy B-movie, with a lame and corny story without the necessary humor for this type of film. The last part is awful, with the participation of the guy that bought the strip club. The brilliant deduction of the survivors that the creatures would be affected by water or beer is maybe the dumbest part of this flick. Further, when the viewer expects that this movie has finished, there are other scene in the credits. My vote is three.

Zombie Strippers FTW!
Patient44430 December 2017
Ok, I see this movie attracted a lot of sympathy and I get that. It had some good usage of dark humor, an OK plot, good character development, overall the people involved in the making of this movie did their job right.

Of course it is a low budget horror, so don't expect a masterpiece, it's a zombie movie with some comedy elements blended in, plenty of nudity I'd say, typical deaths on screen and an unexpected ending. In a good way too.

If you dig it, you should definitely try Zombie Strippers, the original stripper zombies, with more dark humor, more blood, nudity and famous actors even porn actresses! That's right! So all in all, if you're fan of the type this one is pretty OK by my standards. Not the biggest admirer out there, so I'll only recommend it for people that know what they're going in!

Cheers!

I must not watch movies with lots of positive reviews but low vote count
Rob-O-Cop29 March 2017
Yep, I broke a rule I should have known better about. Watching a movie I'd never heard of based on some suspiciously positive reviews, like 2 pages of them and only 100 votes. Dead giveaway for a crew campaign to trick unsuspecting punters into watching their steaming pile of poop.

2 minutes into this stinker and it was obvious from the bad pacing, bad acting, and nothing at all happening, that this was an amateur hack job from people with nothing to say but a mate with a decent camera and some lights.

anyone who makes it further than 15 minutes without getting that WTF am I watching look on their face is either drunk or a crew member.

So, yeah, if you're reading this review to get one more opinion in an effort to check out what this movie is like, ignore the first 20 reviews in the list, this movie isn't worth your time.

Click on the names of some of the other reviews who are questioning the negative reviews and speculation they were written by one person using multiple accounts. Bill Mansley, member for one day with one review. OK... desireedeere, same. There's abad smell in the room, cos you're stinking it up.

Save yourself 1&1/2 hours.

Do NOT bother with this steaming lump of dung. This isn't even B-movie good. Anyone that rated this movie higher than 3 is as sharp as a marble & they defeat the purpose of checking this amazing site to see if a movie is worth watching. THIS IS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME. I assure you, what are supposed to pass as jokes aren't funny. What's supposed to be scary, isn't. What's supposed to be gore, isn't. Even the parts that are meant to be sexy are far from it. If this movie was a horse it'd be put down.

Really no reason to watch this
There is nothing outstanding about this movie. The plot is dumb, the humour, the twists and shocks are really not surprising or shocking, the characters are cheesy stereotypes, the dialogues have been there beforehand and are hard to bare in the situations they come up in and(maybe the film is unique in this aspect) the big solution, twist or whatever it can be called is the biggest pile of steaming ... that I have seen in a while. It is so painful having watched this movie and all that stuck with me(eventhough it is full of nudity at the beginning) was all the plotholes that came with this stupid, stupid turn in the film. Apart from all that the pacing os too slow. There are a few good laughs and a lot of gore and quite some nudity but that is it. Can not recommend the movie.

Beyond awful!!
creepycasper3 April 2017
I love horror movies with foreign, low budget and film festival movies being my favorites. It's not very often that I can't finish a movie but this was the exception. The acting was bad and the script was even worse. There are a lot a great user reviews on this one and I'm guessing they were written by people associated with the film. As for the awards this movie won, I definitely don't have high hopes for the movies that lost out to this one.

Typical B (perhaps even C) movie.
mbzz-7772628 March 2017
Look, the gore is good. The story is passable, especially if you consider the political commentary associate with oil use, etc.

But wow, is the cinematography terrible.

Minor characters look and sound like they've been plagiarised from the Stereotype Handbook - the Oriental bald chef with broken English.

The major characters are basically 2D - the striper's son, despite numerous reference to being a player, looks and sounds like a secret pitcher, which is the upper bar of the kind of jokes you can expect.

VagFarts, Diapers, idiotic themes, typically moron bouncer on counterfeit Chinese steroids with unresolved sexual issues that the lead obviously doesn't notice despite having a near-clairvoyant deduction ability when it comes to the films plot.

You're starting to get the idea I assume? Skip this.

Successful Mix of Comedy, Kill Scenes & Over the Top Fun
Jipper22 April 2017
On the final night this strip club's open, the owner gets more than she bargained for. Infected patrons come in for more than naked women, nasty beer and bear which is served on the menu. Besides bear, Peelers serves up a healthy mix of boobs, blood and hilarity. At first glance Peelers seems like another cheap thrills, boob filled, horror film. While all of those things are true, it also successfully pulls off comedy in between it's many kill scenes. Something most movies fail at doing.

With a set-up similar to From Dusk Till Dawn once they get to the bar. The overall pace of the movie is closer to Feast. The comedy is definitely crude and immature and won't be for everyone. If you like John Gulager movies and you're ready for some fun, Peelers packs a lot of enjoyment.

Peelers suffers from the traditional low budget horror condition of bad acting, corny dialogue and a weak premise. Horror fans should expect this from any low budget horror film going in. Where Peelers succeeds is they don't take themselves too seriously.

After a couple of hilarious stripper dance scenes, I was waiting to see what they did with the pregnant stripper. If I have any issue with this cheap thrill ride, it's that I didn't get to see the comedy, that scene would've provided. Opportunity wasted and all for a Winnie the Pooh scene. They lacked contact during their kill scenes as well. They could have used a Tom Savini helping them out but at least they didn't go with enough animated effects for it to ruin anything.

Dusk Till Dawn Rip Off that will Put you to Sleep
arfdawg-128 March 2017
The Plot. A small town strip club owner named Blue Jean, must defend her bar, her strippers and her life when several patrons become increasingly violent and wreak havoc on the final closing night.

What's with all the positive reviews? These clowns must have worked on the picture.

The movie takes FOREVER to get moving and all the cleavage and random bare breasts ain't gonna keep your attention. Thirty minutes into the movie and STILL nothing has happened.

To be honest, the film is a bit of a rip of of From Dusk Till Dawn, but no where near as good. And with really bad special effects.

This is why I love horror movies
wassupoutside26 July 2016
This film has been popping up around horror circles so I'll admit i was intrigued...people who had seen it mentioned that it was kind of like a zombie movie but not, so then I was little less intrigued (i've seen enough zombie movies) but I had the lucky opportunity to see this film at the Shock & Gore fest in Birmingham and it was definitely worth it.

It's not a zombie movie per se. There are some similarities, but these guys put a little twist on the genre and it's a really interesting take on the whole thing. Would love to know if this is a commentary on a certain heated global topic but I don't want to give anything away so I will leave it at that and guess that perhaps the filmmaker is sending out a message maybe thru film. Which is the beauty of filmmaking. You tell a story and reveal a truth now and then. But I digress.

This film has really good pacing. Never once was I bored, nor did I roll my eyes. It kept me engaged at all times and I really loved Wren Walker's performance as the lead. She was smart, caring, funny, tough and vulnerable at the same time, a leader and talented. All the things that make a person, in this particular case, a woman, beautiful.

There are definitely some things (i.e. stripper stunts) that were...interesting to say the least and some really great kills, espeicially for a low budget film.

I'm more of a cricket man myself but the baseball element throughout was a nice touch. Whenever you put little touches of sport in an otherwise non-sport movie, there's something about that that I like. I don't know what it is.

Overall, had a fun time and will definitely look forward to seeing this one again.

Thunder and Lightning...
jassamineleland4 April 2017
Had the pleasure of meeting the filmmakers in Florida last year but never got to see the film. Finally got to see it on iTunes and now it all makes sense, haha....can definitely see the sense of humor of the filmmakers coming through on this one...

Enjoyed the film immensely, even the excessive amount of spludge/vomit/gore that is consistently throughout. Don't eat anything too filling 'cuz if you've got a weak stomach, it may come back to haunt you...

Loved the "bad guys" in the film, who started out as a group of fun guys whose fun just took a wrong turn. But that's where Peelers shines...BLue Jean (played by the incomparable Wren Walker) steps in to try and save the day and she does it without being a bitch but still remaining tough, calm and caring. Fantastic leading lady and her body is SICK. Not to be pervy here but seriously her body was amazing. Better than a twiggy model, this chick has muscles, but not over-the-top steroid kind, the beautiful, I can take care of myself kind.

My favorite part has to be the ending...can't believe you guys did that, but certainly glad you did! Talk about not holding back. Oh well, you'll have to see for yourself! Great job, guys! Thanks for the fun ride.

Beware!
Tito325 April 2017
First things first - thanks to this abortion I am never again watching a movie unless it has at least 200 votes and more than 50 reviews.

I like indie horror, there is something quite satisfying in knowing filmmaker has managed to come up with a good/great movie on shoestring budget. I have enjoyed many of them over the years.

This however, is impossible to enjoy, or even watch unless you're stoned/drunk out of your mind or just plain dumb. Low budget is no excuse for truly awful acting, unlikeable characters, poor effects and a story that could be written by a 8 year old with high fever.

Directors previous effort, Skew, is nothing short of a masterpiece compared to this one. Younger viewers will probably "enjoy" lots of flesh as it all goes down in a stripclub. But the girls are fugly and no amount of naked boobies and asses can save this wreck from bottom of a barrel.

Main character of "Blue Jean" has about as much charisma as those stripper poles. Two "facts" about her are funnier and more entertaining than anything in the movie - she is "classically trained actress" (maybe in softcore porn) according to IMDb. And she supposedly "beat out over 200 other actresses for this role", something that is almost impossible to believe. I simply refuse to think that there were over 200 other girls who were less talented than her :) But hey, maybe there really were a few hundred 5 dollar strippers auditioning for the role and only 5% of them spoke English. That is the only possible explanation.

Here is a funny "coincidence" - as of 05.04.17. every single person (except 1 out of 19) who gave this movie positive feedback has written only one review and one vote on their profiles. And guess what, its of this movie. I guess nothing beats closest family and friends.

It's that shockingly bad that you actually can't not watch it. The actors/actress' aren't actually bad but the storyline and script are absolutely atrocious.

Strippers vs. Mexican Evil Dead?...
paul_haakonsen28 August 2017
It was three things that made me pick up "Peelers" and give it a chance. The first thing was, of course, that it is a horror movie, and I am a huge fan of the horror genre and always have been. Secondly, then the movie's DVD cover did look rather interesting; I mean, a dismembered leg hanging on a dancing pole above a body on the floor. Thirdly, I noticed the word "infected" in the synopsis, so chances are that this was a zombie movie of sorts, and I am, after all, a huge zombie aficionado.

"Peelers" starts out quite nicely at a good pace and throws the action, and then it trails over into the intro which is accompanied by a rather interesting choice of music. So yeah, I will say that "Peelers" is off to a great start. However, after a somewhat impressive start, the movie slows down in pace and falls prey to the usual prolonged setting up the mood and setting over an extensive period, so it takes close to half an hour of the movie before it starts to pick up pace and become interesting.

The movie does fall prey to the stereotypical approach of pointless nudity that is often seen in horror movies. Sure, as the movie does take place at an adult dance club, but still... It hardly serves any purpose to the movie, aside from catering to a pseudo-perverse aspect of the horror genre fans - if one finds this to be appealing, of course. And there was, naturally, an abundance of dance scenes with scantily clad ladies, given the nature of the movie. Again, it serves no real purpose in order to promote the storyline. It is just eye candy, nothing else. I am not a prude and got no problem with nudity and the naked body, but when it becomes a nuisance and a drag to the pacing of a storyline in a movie that I sat down to watch, then it definitely becomes annoying.

I wasn't familiar with anyone on the cast list for "Peelers", and I do like watching new faces on the screen. And admittedly then people in the movie were doing good jobs with their given roles and characters. The acting was good and they did have some interesting characters and dialogue to work with from writers Lisa DeVita and Sevé Schelenz.

There is actually a good amount of blood and gore to be seen in this movie, which definitely was somewhat of a factor that sort of made it up for all the pointless nudity and wasting of screen time with dancing and other such things that hardly served any purpose to the movie.

Another thing that "Peelers" suffers under is the stereotypical approach of having filmed everything in the dark. So many of the scenes were filmed with an annoying lack of light, which meant that a lot of detail were lost and it was just downright frustrating to sit and watch one dark scene after another. This was especially annoying because if they had opted for brighter and better lighting then the movie could have been so much more fulfilling to watch.

And much to my disappointment, then it turned out that "Peelers" wasn't a zombie movie, but it was more of deranged maniacal killers on the prowl.

"Peelers" was a horror movie with the right intentions and the right ideas, but unfortunately those things were lost along the way as naked women seemed to become the main focus of the movie.

So bad, it's almost good(but not)
jonot-3824422 February 2020
This film is an absolute waste of time! Every scene is drawn out for no apparent reason. Right from the get go it is garbage and makes little to no sense. I can't decide what's worse, the dialogue, the acting or the characters. Riddled with clichés and the only laughable moments are how terribly it's made. We only got to the end as we were too hunger to move! A personal highlight was the explosion at the end!

ugliest strippers ever
jimmycoffin-751-21285314 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I don't Believe I've ever seen such bad strip dancing ever. I would like to Think that If you make a story involving strippers there would be actual good choreographers on set and more genuine dancing. Here you have like childish hot topic wannabe Girls trying to pull of some sexy dancing but its not, Even the intro is like the most Hollywood's b grade you can come up with. Silicon tits, ugly ass tattoo, the acting is c grade. OK I often enjoy really cheap b horrors to if they got a sense of style. nothing here is good.

Peelers: Slightly above average zombie movie
Platypuschow7 May 2019
Peelers tells the story of a zombie-ish outbreak in a strip club and despite being cliched it's passable stuff.

Though advertised as a horror I have to say it's arguably a comedy horror, some of the jokes are far too silly for it to be otherwise. This does screw up the tone a tad because they are few and far between, but it doesn't damage the movie thankfully.

The last time I watched a Canadian zombie comedy it was Ahockalypse (2018) which was a fair bit better than this. Not saying Peelers isn't a good movie, it just plays everything so safe and doesn't really have its own identity.

Think of all the tropes you're used to seeing in zombie movies, Peelers grabs them with both hands and grips them tight for the full 90 minute duration.

The cast, unknowns but they do a good enough job especially our leading lady. The effects, passable. The script, not half bad. But the movie itself again just comes across too color by numbers and won't deliver any surprises.

Passable stuff and a decent enough watch for zombie movie fans.

The Good:

Wren Walker

Has its moments

The Bad:

Very little originality

"funny, gory and fills an appetite for a solid Saturday night film"
beyondthegore28 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
It's been a long time since I have been able to label a film as 'fun', Peelers is hitting the scene with some much needed Splatter Gore! It's funny, gory and fills an appetite for a solid Saturday night film.

In the wake of previous zombie/stripper combinations (Zombies, Zombies, Zombies & Zombie Strippers) Peelers actually gets the combination right, it knows when to bring the noise, it knows when to build some tension and ultimately it knows what to deliver, gore, action, and unsurprisingly in a film where there are strippers........tits!

Producer Sevé Schelenz who seems to mainly have a TV background editing for a countless number of shows, sends a clear message to the horror scene – this is how to make a gory, light hearted horror comedy!

Former baseball star 'Billie Jean Douglas' is trying to enjoy her last night as a small-town strip club owner, a group of local miners come to the bar to celebrate one of the workers birthdays. The night seems to be going as planned until one of the workers goes to the bathroom and suffers a belt of exorcism projectile vomit – spraying a black tar like substance.......well everywhere! As the night starts to take a turn for the worst Blue Jean asks one of the group what has happened and we are given an explanation of what the miners discovered - an 'oil' like goo which seems to infect people......it slowly starts to spread around the strip club and becomes a fight for survival to see who can make the night!

Yes the plot is as simple as it sounds but it doesn't need to be complicated, I'm glad to see that the focus is on gore and comedy rather than a complex story which would not suit the film. There has clearly been a lot of thought in to the finer details of the film, the pacing is absolutely spot on, every moment where things seem to slow down a little we are given some character development or gore......or nudity! Naturally the first quarter of the film does play out as an introduction but it doesn't take long to get going and when it does the action sticks around until the very end.

Wren Walker as Blue Jean plays a great female lead and is a badass in her own right, in fact the majority of the cast all play standout performances which I am struggling to fault. Don't get me wrong there are a few wooden moments, Caz Odin Darky as club bouncer 'Remy' bears the brunt of the awkwardness, with some lines of dialogue which simply shouldn't have made the final cut........something just didn't work for Caz, his physique suits the role but his face is more male model than male bouncer!

Peelers absolutely exceeds in the gore department, it's not conventional 'blood' rather a black tar like substance which seems to be in abundance. Violent vomit episodes, decapitations, gunshot wounds and a handful of other creative deaths all fit the bill perfectly – there are a couple of moments of what I call 'dodgy CGI' which I felt personally did not fit in with the practical prowess of the entire film – ultimately this use of CGI was outshone by the practical FX and should have been left as is.

Now these aren't zombies in the normal sense – more infected than blood thirsty, they don't seem to feed on humans more to kill and maim. Usually at this moment I would be giving a speech about how they're not Romero zombies or something similar but it's really not necessary here, these infected are unique in their own manner and there's no need for comparison.

Overall Peelers is a thoroughly enjoyable horror/comedy with enough gore and nudity to entertain even the most casual horror fan, a much needed splatter entry to start 2017 with a gooey-bang!

Pleasantly Surprised
billmansley29 March 2017
Caught this on iTunes and was pleasantly surprised. In all honesty I didn't expect much but I did hear some good things about it before going in. Bottom line - it was good. I decided to check IMDb out and was a bit shocked at some of the hate on for the film. After reading some of the user reviews I thought, "Did you see the same movie"?? Come on, some of these complaints are ridiculous. Bad Special Effects? I don't think so. They looked great. Bad Cinematography? Ummm, what?? Looked great. Yes, you can totally tell this is an indie film. It's not Batman vs Superman. They obviously didn't have a big budget but for what it is, it's great. Looking a little deeper, I'm guessing the haters are not haters (plural) but one hater doing multiple reviews. Now, having said that, I think some of the other reviews may be a bit over-glowing and I get the sense that maybe some family/friends of the film are involved so I think in the end, go somewhere in the middle. A 7 for sure! Horror fans will like. I know I did!

you'll root for the zombies.
MrBojangles123417 December 2017
This movie is bad. all the way through. Not that kind of bad where you have a bit of campy fun with a movie that doesn't take itself too seriously, but eye rolling bad from the first scene until the credits roll. It's as though someone saw 'zombie strippers' and thought it was the Citizen Kane of zombie movies, and decided to remake it, but worse. much worse. Where it tries to be funny, it's sad, and where it tries to be horrific, it's laughable. The plot seems to be oddly convinced that it's engaged the viewer to the plight of the characters, and we're at the edge of our seat, but nothing could be further from the truth. Scenes mash together, while 'shocking reveals' are injected in a vain attempt to make the viewer care about something, one after another. I've rated this movie 2/10, and not 1, because the cameraman seems to be able to have been able to stay awake during shooting. bravo. i don't know how you did it.

Started well, ended up dull
movie_ape27 October 2020
I liked the visual aesthetic and the intro sequence. Of course this movie was a bit tongue in cheek with the naked strippers but in the end by the time the zombies turned up I was getting bored.

I think the movie was set out as in 'From Dusk Till Dawn', but this movie failed to add anything that was already done in that movie.

The zombies were a bit lackluster, as a replacement to the vampires in that movie.

4/10 not exciting enough though looks great.
