Entertaining enough
coltras3525 July 2023
When a struggling young maid wakes up next to her client's pool covered in blood, she discovers the owner dead in the water and her eight-year-old son's life is in jeopardy. She knows she's being set up, so she races to uncover the truth with the help of a guy named Billy whose truck she almost stole, but can he be trusted?

This lifetime thriller starts with a bang though it almost veers into a dull drama but some sharp narrative turns, a good performance by Kathryn Kohut and good chemistry and Billy propels things. The twist sort of surprised me, though, in hindsight, it shouldn't have as that person could be the only one to concoct the plan.

Had potential

Well by the sound of the title and the plot I thought this be a pretty good movie.

How wrong was I started off okay mind you we got a house cleaner walking down the street looking for a house to clean , she's not in a car she's walking, doesn't have a car, how does she gets to jobs. ? She seems to take Ubers all the time. How can she afford Ubers? Anyway I don't wanna spoil too much. The actors are quite good. The story was there but it wasn't. It was really dumb. It could've been so much better, but it wasn't. Very disappointing .As for the hero boyfriend guy , we didn't find out a great deal about him , another movie with a neat story but failed dismally.

Lifetime woman in danger
SnoopyStyle18 February 2024
Annie Wilkerson (Kathryn Kohut) is a single mom and struggling house cleaner. She arrives at her new client's home and starts to clean. Something knocks her out after seeing someone at the pool. She wakes up next to the pool with the dead owner. She runs away before the police arrives. She tries to steal a car which belongs to Billy (Matt Wells). He agrees to drive her home.

This starts with a lot of questions. The movie does asking the biggest question which is why she ran. Billy seems rather random no matter which way his story goes. As for the actual plan, it seems to be overly complicated. It seems easier to just kill her. The story could have been someone trying to kill her but she escapes. It's Lifetime and another woman in danger. It could be worst, but it's not that good.

Boring

Warning: Spoilers
Slow, boring and dumb. The story made absolutely no sense. Annie was trying to find out who was trying to frame her for murder and why. Grandma who was so forgiving of Annie after she was convicted and imprisoned for killing her son was the obvious choice to me. Annie engaged a stranger named Billy, whose truck she tried to steal, to help her find out who was trying to frame her. She found several ID's in Billy's truck with his picture and different names. He gave some off the wall answer as to why he had them and it was never mentioned again. Very strange. As they search the home of a person they suspected, Billy finds wads of money and jewelry and steals it. He never tells Annie and it is never mentioned. At the end, Billy steals the $200, 000 blackmail money. How did Billy know that the purchase contained all this money and where to find the purse. How did Annie afford to Uber all over town when she was an unemployed maid with a son to support. Did Billy work? Too much missing information.

An imitation of a bad Lifetime movie
Davalon-Davalon26 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
There is very, very little in this story that makes any sense. A house cleaner who is wandering down some country road in Canada, trying to find the place she's going to clean (instead of using an Uber, which she uses at every other opportunity throughout the film) finally finds the house. It's huge. She starts cleaning. There's a pitcher o' somethin' with a note, "Help yourself" in pretty feminine writing (this will come back later). So, of course house cleaner drinks whatever is in the pitcher. It's drugged. She passes out. When she awakes she discovers that someone is dead in the pool of the house she's cleaning.

Instead of calling the police, she bolts. Reason: she recently got out of prison for vehicular manslaughter (her husband).

(Did I mention she's a single mom? While she's in prison, Rich Grandma takes care of house cleaner's son, "Tate.")

House cleaner thinks she might be a suspect in the murder of someone at the house. She ends up bolting from the house, trying to steal someone's car, who ultimately stops her (a hot single guy), and all of the sudden, they're enmeshed in each other's lives.

There are other pointless hijinks, forced "drama" and "suspense," all "highlighted" by "dramatic music" that's probably been recycled from another so-called "Lifetime" movie.

The big reveal is that Rich Grandma has been setting up house cleaner to fail big time so that Rich Grandma can give grandson everything. But since house cleaner keeps showing up like a bad penny, Rich Grandma (who also doesn't hesitate to drug or violently injure anyone who gets in her way) decides that house cleaner has to be taken out -- by a couple of the stupidest "crooks" on record.

It was impossible to watch this in continuity, but when I decided to turn it on, I did my exercise, since it was one way to keep myself awake.

An absolute disaster and waste of time. I watched it for my job, not because I wanted to.

Another Lifetime mystery!!!
Chartreuse116 May 2023
Annie, a single mom who works as a maid, goes to a new job, gets drugged and ends up near a pool with a dead woman floating in it and blood on her hands! This is a pretty good Lifetime movie filmed entirely in Canada with a good Canadian cast. She leaves and finds out that the woman who was murdered was the head juror who voted to convict her in a DUI for murdering her husband. She knows that someone is trying to set her up and she gains the help of a guy named Billy whose truck she almost stole who wants to help her clear her name. She has a boy named Tate who stayed with her wealthy mother-in-law while she was serving her sentence. She goes to pick him up and then goes home to figure out what to do next since her fingerprints were found at the scene of the crime. You will have to tune in to this one to see what happens next and you won't be disappointed. Quite entertaining with a good script! Definitely recommend!!!

Excellent TV movie marred by a few plot holes
Little_Tyke24 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This Canadian TV movie was a cut above the usual trash, but there's something bugging me. Namely, the character, Billy. He's the guy whose truck Annie tried to steal, but he caught her in the act. So what were we to make of Billy? In any TV movie you start looking for the potential perp early on and Billy was definitely a suspect in my book. But the guy was a bit of an enigma. Although he was keen to help Annie, after initial reservations, I wondered what was he seeking to get out of it? It could only be that he fancied Annie and looked forward to some sort of relationship. But soon doubts about Billy were raised. While Billy and Annie are driving in Billy's truck, Annie notices some of Billy's business cards which state a different name, that of someone called Dave. The explanation Billy gave Annie when questioned was very unconvincing. Then later in the movie Billy and Annie are searching another suspect's house in the process of which Billy came across a wad of cash and some jewellery in a drawer, both of which he pocketed without a qualm. So, Billy or Dave or whoever is as dodgy as heck. This was never explained throughout the rest of the movie. Finally, Annie and Billy managed to corner the culprits and next we see them enjoying a vacation together. But Annie never knew about the items he stole and I have to wonder what did she let herself in for?

Perils From a Smother Mother
lavatch15 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Annie Wilkerson got a raw deal in life. In an auto accident in which her husband died, Annie was not at fault. But a crooked cop falsified a blood report indicating that Annie was intoxicated while driving. She spent two-and-a-half years in prison for the DUI. Recently released, Annie now faces more harassment from someone seeking her demise.

Kathryn Kohut hit all the right notes in her performance of Annie, a resilient mom who is devoted to her son Tate. Annie links up with Billy, who aids her in her sleuth work.

An obstacle which Annie must overcome is her formidable mother-in-law, Elizabeth Hale. A wealthy dowager and philanthropist, Elizabeth has become attached to her grandson during the spell in which Annie was in prison. Elizabeth has the best line in the film when she tells a couple of scary-looking thugs, "Just smother her."

A strength of the film was the blossoming relationship between Annie and Billy. There was a sly undercurrent of humor in their banter, and both characters were suspicious of each other at the outset.

There were outstanding locations selected in the Pacific Northwest and an effective denouement on the beach that wrapped up the film's loose ends. The film is worth watching for the confessional of old Samuel Primm, who exonerates Annie and sets her on the road to redemption and triumph over the ultimate smother mother.
