After a spate of alcohol-fuelled benders and the loss of two major sponsors, a disgraced football star (Toby Derrick) and his embattled club president (Jane Allsop) are desperate for a good news story and invite themselves to participate in the kids doco. The doco is given a boost when the kids are approached by a pair of young social entrepreneurs (Zenya Carmellotti and Milo Hartill) who have founded a number of buy-one-give-one-pay-it-forward-so-we-profit type businesses. They have a devout following among millennials who are desperate to be seen to be doing something other than just hashtaging the crap out of things. But the kids become frustrated as they turn any question about homelessness into a story about themselves and a plug for their merchandise.

The kids interview the former Minister for Homelessness (David James) - a tough, no-nonsense, career politician with a swathe of funding scandals hanging over his head. He bemoans the progress of the new government, whilst attempting to create plausible deniability around the rising number of homeless and his failure to achieve anything after almost a decade in power. He speaks in sound bites and riddles which infuriates the kids who refuse to let him dodge their questions.

Tensions are high on set as not all the kids are excited by the arrival of a powerful social media influencer (Emily Taheny) who wants to promote the doco, and herself, to her adoring online followers. It's a WAGs to riches story as the self-confessed 'social change ambassador' tries to inadvertently get the kids to model her new range of cause-free clothing for a cause. But when the kids regroup they discover there is no cause and sales have tanked due to high rates of toxicity, shrinkage and combustibility.

The kids are perplexed when Little Trickster (Keegan Joyce), a former child star and newly recovering reality TV star, wants to appear in their doco. Despite his privileged private school upbringing, he's reinvented himself as a rapper and is desperate for credibility - hence the sudden interest in homelessness. After the kids discover he appropriated a homeless person's story and spun it as his own, he tries to convince them it was all part of a plan to boost sales of his new charity single.

With the Church under fire in the media, the Archbishop (Darren Gilshenan) and his less-than-trusty social media manager (Hannah Fredericksen), embark on a charm offensive to win the hearts and minds of everyday Australian's by appearing in the kids doco. But when the kids query Church attitudes towards poverty, homelessness and their large under-utilised land holding, the Archbishop struggles to distract them with stories of a deity, a donkey and a rogue Santa, as he fumbles his way through a new re-telling of the story of Christmas.
