The church scenes for the movie were filmed in Memphis at Memphis Tabernacle Church, also known as the "Johnny Cash Church." It was in this building that singer Johnny Cash performed his first professional concert at the age of 22 in December 1954. There is a life size statue of Johnny Cash in front of the church and a historical marker. The church is located in the Cooper/Young neighborhood of Memphis.
Michael Bonini and Kyle Bowers were also featured together in the film "Jesus Is Lord."
The house used in this film was also used in the movie "Eli Parker Is Getting Married?" which was the first film that Ryan Earl Parker and Mark Goshorn Jones collaborated on.
The 1955 Cadillac feature in the final scene of the film belongs to Tad Pierson (also in the scene) who gives tours while driving the Cadillac in and around the city of Memphis and tells stories of the musical history of the city and surrounding area.
