Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 7: A Haunted Board Game Brings Fun and Pain to the Drew Crew
ergo-5853413 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Nancy Drew season four has been a roller coaster of emotions, and episode 7 was no exception. The Reaping of Hollow Oak was a thrilling and heartbreaking installment that featured a cursed 1980s board game, a mysterious killer, and some major relationship drama.

The episode began with Nancy and Ace interrupting Nick's brunch date with Jade, who was suspicious of their close bond. Nick assured her that he and Nancy were just friends, but it was clear that there was more to their story. Meanwhile, Carson and George helped Bess prepare for her statement to the councilwoman, who had threatened to sue her for defamation.

The main plot of the episode revolved around a haunted board game that Nancy found in an antique shop. The game, called The Reaping of Hollow Oak, was one of several toys that were laced with evil by an unknown person in the 1980s. The game transported the players to a fantasy world where they had to face deadly challenges and enemies, such as Shades, Grimms, and Longhooks.

The Drew Crew decided to play the game in order to find out who was behind the murders of several people who had played it before. They soon realized that the game was not only dangerous, but also personal. The game revealed their deepest fears, secrets, and desires, and forced them to make difficult choices.

The most emotional moments of the episode involved Nancy and Ace, who were still struggling with their feelings for each other. The game made them confront their attraction, but also their guilt and fear of hurting their friends. They shared some tender scenes, but also some painful ones, as they realized that they couldn't be together.

The episode also had some fun and nostalgic elements, such as the 1980s music, sound effects, and dialogue. Nick was especially hilarious as he channeled his inner action hero and delivered some cheesy one-liners. The episode also paid homage to Jumanji, Dungeons and Dragons, and other classic board games.

The episode ended with a shocking twist: the killer was none other than Tristan Abbott, the son of Judge Abbott and Nancy's new love interest. He had been using the game to eliminate his enemies and get revenge for his father's death. He also revealed that he knew about Nancy's curse and wanted to use it for his own benefit.

Nancy Drew season four episode 7 was a captivating and emotional hour of television that kept me on the edge of my seat. It was a perfect blend of mystery, horror, comedy, and romance. It also set up some intriguing questions for the rest of the season: How will Nancy deal with Tristan's betrayal? How will Nick and Jade's relationship survive? How will Ace cope with his feelings for Nancy? And what will happen to the Drew Crew when they face the next supernatural threat?

I give this episode a 9 out of 10 stars. It was one of the best episodes of the season so far.

I love this episode, I think they killed it! The CW writers know how to keep us in suspense, and I really appreciate all the effort they have put into this show. I can't wait to see the Drew Crew find the black door and battle the creature that erases crimes. The CW's writers know how to jumpscare us, throw a romantic flair in, and still keep it mysterious. To the CW: thank you for this show! Anyone who looks at this review...Tell the CW we want a season 5! Keep this show alive, people! We want to keep Nancy Drew on the air for a fifth, sixth, and seventh season! Riverdale didn't deserve to last that long. -Samuel.
