Was ok movie.
Love the musical part of the movie. Tamera that plays Danielle seem like she was trying to hard to act did not really enjoy that character. Chelsea that plays Claire really enjoyed her in the movie and her story line. Tamera has a beautiful voice though. Over all it was an ok movie just wish Danielle seemed move comfortable playing her part. The musical aspect of the movie was wonderful. I wish Danielle's daughter looked a little younger. The character that was playing her daughter looked older than a teenager. If you love music would a be a good movie to watch just seem like the acting was off.

Good Premise
athompsonblue27 April 2024
The story is about two talented women who failed to pass Broadway auditions when they were young. So, they moved on to focus on family and job. Two decades later, they get a second chance when they partner up for an American Idol type of show. One mother has an arc of learning that it's okay to be a little selfish. The other has an arc of learning to accept help from others.

The Caucasian brunette, Claire, is a single mom working hard to support two sons. When the older one (who really needs a haircut) started giving her attitude, I wanted to smack him. And the movie failed to have him apologize to her in person.

I liked Claire's love interest. The character is just a really good guy.

I wasn't expecting this competition to have only two rounds. The host's name is a hilarious nod, though.

Wanted to love this movie except for the dance.
pixfan9 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It's surprising because Hallmark's movie about the Rockettes was able to hit the mark in the dance department. This movie did not and it hurt the credibility of the plot. The daughter who was auditioning for a ballet dancer did not have the body type or level of dance skills to suggest she was anywhere near professional level - a real miscasting of someone who was also too old to play a student. Tamera's voice is very nice and believable that she once auditioned for Broadway. The woman who played the mom dancer was not believable at all as the kind of level dancer that ever could've ever been considered for Broadway. The routine they choreographed for her was extremely amateurish and outdated and made it hard to believe they would be considered as finalists in a national competition - have the producers watched AGT or the other network dance talent shows and the level of talent out there? The women are young enough to be dancing at a much higher level. I love Hallmark, but hate when they cheese up the movie with not making the professional artist part of the movie credible. I hope they keep trying to raise the bar.

Disaster
lancemdonnelly16 May 2023
I'm not sure what Hallmark was thinking on this one. The acting was bad, the characters totally unbelievable, the music score was horrible, the singing was mediocre and the dancing was absolutely atrocious. I turned it off after a painful 30 minutes. Don't waste your time on this one. At least Hallmark is trying something new, so that's good, I guess. If Hallmark is going to start doing musicals they should at least find talet who can dance and sing. The casting and the physical ability to perform any sense of art is vacant from this movie. Keep trying Hallmark. I like the idea of wading into musicals, but this one was a bust.

A second chance to put yourself first
jessicalloyd-5742414 May 2023
First and foremost, I'm loving this family films. Secondly, the friendship, the work/life/family/happiness balance, yea this film had all of that. I feel like as people, we tend to forget to put ourselves and our happiness first. Tamera's character (Danielle) dealt with that. Chelsea's character (Claire) was family focused. They both had similar goals with different approaches. You really don't see alot of representation of that in films nowadays. It created a beautiful sisterhood between them. I also love how once Dani decided to chase her own happiness her family not only supported her but encouraged her. This was a really great film. I watched it with my family and we loved it. Chelsea is amazing dancer and oh my gosh, Tamera's voice is sooo soothing. Voice of an Angel. Great film! I'll definitely be watching again!

Not worth anyone's time.
rozapinky15 May 2023
The movie is an absolute disappointment, lacking any redeeming qualities or interesting plot points. From poor acting to cringe-worthy dialogue, it fails to engage the audience. There are no moments of excitement or emotion, leaving viewers feeling bored and uninvolved. It is difficult to find anything positive to say about this film, as it falls short in almost every aspect. Overall, it is a regrettable experience not worth anyone's time. I was expecting a fun movie night, which this was certainly not. Despite the increasing use of a particular form, professional standards are being neglected and are lower than ever before. It is indeed a disheartening experience for individuals who are passionate about cinema.

Loved it!
kimmiebee-9435516 May 2023
The storyline was relatable not only to Moms, but to anyone who still has a dream they haven't pursued. I could completely relate to the relationship Danielle (Tamera Mowry Housley) had with her daughter and loved their interactions, especially their dance scenes and when she realized that she didn't like the example she had been setting for her daughter. Tamera's vocals were stellar and her acting was believable. Her chemistry with her co-lead and the other actors was great. In fact, I felt she brought out the best in everyone.

3 generations of women (my daughter, me and my Mom) thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It was the perfect movie for Mother's Day weekend. Bravo!!!!

The writing/story part didn't make it either
pixfan9 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Unfortunately, after watching more of the movie, the plot for sillier and less believable. What kind of people would let their arguments and family issues get recorded on camera for a talent show? No one - especially a woman whose husband was up for a promotion at a prestigious law firm. No lawyer would let people film like that - a stupid plot. Also, no good husband would tell his wife to drop out of a nationally televised talent contest because the date conflicted with his work commitment. Someone who worked on this movie recommended this movie for me to watch, but I was disappointed that this was one of the worst (and cliche) Hallmark movies I have seen. Not sure what happened with this one, but if they're going to charge fees to watch, they need to make something that's credible - there are dozens of other movies out there with this kind of story/plot that are so well done and worth the watch. I hope these comments will help the filmmakers produce a higher quality movie on their next try.

Inspirational, New Age, Remarkable Talent & Budget!
Hallmark-Fan16 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Hallmark has blessed us with another classic movie the fans will enjoy for years to come. I normally don't sit through a full two hours but this one was worthwhile! "Curtains up, chin up buttercup..." the moment I heard Tamara's heavenly voice with the Broadway instrumentals in opening, I knew we had a gem. Chelsea looked beautiful too, like a porcelain doll with her ballerina moves. Fast-forward to present day, both ladies just were breathtakingly stunning and living mom lives. Tamara in a nuclear family having a slice of the American pie and Chelsea's character in a chaotic, couture lifestyle. I enjoyed this dichotomy between the two moms. It's not seen often on the Hallmark channel. I loved how Tamara and Chelsea met in the studio, it was expected how they got the name Dream Moms. I figured it was an ode to Dream Girls. The ladies talent really stole the show, vocals and moves. This was a fun movie and got better once we got to the middle and end with practices and they're filming for the show. I love how Tamara's character was conflicted with putting herself first or focusing on her family and fostering their dreams. It was truly a woman's empowerment story centered around reinvention and it's never too late to follow your dreams. I loved this, just in time for mother's day. I watched it with my mother and grandmother, we're all avid Hallmark fans. Seeing my mom tear up towards the end solidified this movie is worth a review. Amazing film!

Awesome!!
Laynie1617 May 2023
I thought the movie was fantastic!! It was so relatable to us moms! Listening to Tamera sing just makes me so happy. Her voice is so angelic. Glad to see her in her element! I felt the chemistry was great with the entire cast and acting was great as well. It was so authentic. Everything just flowed so organically. My mom called me and she's already watched twice and calls me every time it comes on! Lol. The movie inspired me to never give up on my dreams even though I'm a mom. My kids will see that I kept pushing and it will set a great example for them to keep pursuing their passions! This was definitely a feel good movie/musical! I'll be watching again! Great job!

Nice Movie
Chick_Flix_Buff_17 May 2023
This was a good movie, it brought in some realism that Hallmark has traditionally neglected with the prince charming and return to hometown plots. We immediately saw that the women are bustling with the diner scene and rushing to work scene. We got panoramic shots of the city so it clicked they're big city girls that tried to get a break. I like that the women have real-life issues, it hits home as a momma who chose domesticity over my career. I don't like abandoned single mom characters. I would've preferred Claire be widowed. Call me old-fashioned but I don't like it promoted although it's modern day reality. Overall nice movie about following your dreams and nice duality between characters and overall cast chemistry.

Not a Hallmark Christmas but Great!
kerry_wright-6881024 May 2023
I'm a bit partial to the Christmas movies only but this touching story captivated me. I like that the leading ladies were not the typical friendship you'd witness. Different socioeconomic and ethic backgrounds with the woman of color having financial status. I feel this should be the norm to represent more BIPOC households.

I loved the talent. Both ladies can dance and the twin's character can sing and she's gotten so much better with time. I genuinely just enjoy a showmanship movie. Lifetime and Hallmark are great at storytelling and dialogue, but I yearn for upbeat stories with theater. These actors usually come from musical backgrounds so I hope we see more original songwriting and scores.

I hope to see more of these two in the holidays. Very gorgeous young women who keeps the Hallmark spirit alive with their quintessential beauty, bright smiles, and amazing acting abilities. 9 for the uniqueness, diverse cast, and artistry.
