Good story with a nonsensical rushed ending.
sayedshazee14 August 2023
First of all I don't get why most of the reviewers are calling it a cli fi because it has nothing to do with the climate. Hoever I am not surprised since most of the accounts the reviews are from are 2 days old and made specifically to copy/paste some cersion of the same narrative,

I really liked the first 6 episodes, there has to be some considerable suspension of belief and quite a few loopholes but the story seemed sncere and it is good for a one time watch.

The ending however was totally nonsensical and rushed, something straight out of a C movie but all things considered it is a good one time watch,

Not your regular entertainment! This one makes you think and does it so brilliantly
ishitag-4028314 August 2023
The show lives up to the hype and the suspense it promised in its trailer. The opening scene will make you rewatch it just to check if it's actually India! The story flows so beautifully through the episodes with some mind blowing shots and twists that keep you hooked throughout. The music is just mindblowing! I can't say enough about it. It just elevates the show to another level!

This is not your regular entertainment and will need some commitment and maturity to understand what it's trying to convey. Nila Panda's vision and focus on such an important topic is very timely especially given what the world is going through. Every episode ends at such a high, you want to know what happened next.

Some of the vfx was shody and some dialogues a little all over the place but I would discount that given the storytelling, action and direction which constantly commands your attention and keeps you gripped.

Special mention to all the artists who played the Bondria tribe. That old lady collecting the rice grains in her shawl made my heart ache.

There is so much we take for granted and this series is a wonderful reminder of that and so much more. Waiting for the next season!!

It was amazing

Excellent story telling. Superb quality for a home cinema. This fascinating series was a delight to see. Also, it's fun to watch in regional languages, especially the odia language. The story's twists and turns are riveting all the way through to the end. A second season, I hope, will be available shortly. The feelings are conveyed superbly. It's fascinating to see because of a unique quality it carries. The story is well-written and professionally performed, and it is realistic and effective in conveying a wide variety of emotions. The unexpected turns in the story are also well done. There needs to be more content in the future that focuses on Odisha. Everything about this has been wonderful for me. This is a performance no one should miss.

A show with massive potential being killed by reviews
guptanidhi-6088911 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I read a review by HT on the show and decided to watch it. I am a layman and I watch all kinds of shows and for me this was a fabulous watch. The world of mining, tribe all this is real. The vedanta took away the homes of real people. The uranium will be mined and people will lose homes. Yes, such a huge topic is said with a lot of plots but that is what I found v interesting in the story. How so many worlds came together. 7th episode could have been better. The ending was somthing I was not happy with but I liked this show and quite opp of reviewse. Newspapers in India forget audiences.luvvv.

Excellent webseries

Again, Nila Madhab Panda is victorious. The Jengaburu Curse, his most recent series, is a masterpiece that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The entire cast and personnel of India's first Cli-Fi thriller deserve congratulations. This article examines the effects of capitalism in detail. It is meticulously planned and masterfully executed. Is development worthwhile if it costs human lives and the natural environment? Is it progress or unquenchable thirst that drives us forward? This notion is entirely debunked by The Jengaburu Curse. It has the potential to ignite a vigorous discussion. The exploitation of natural resources and human labour has been regarded for a very long time as a crucial aspect of progress. When did you last hear someone discuss environmental issues? In my opinion, Nila Madhab Panda has created a masterpiece with this series. Exceptional acting and an intriguing narrative. Fans of the genre should not pass up this opportunity.

Gripping story!
aditya-4577319 August 2023
This series does bring a lot of pressing issues to the fore besides just climate change... the corruption that justifies the systemic elimination of indigenous tribes in the guise of fighting the naxal movement, the ruthless destruction of nature to fuel war whilst badgering about peace and cooperation.

There are things that could have been done differently and/or better. Very engaging till episode 6, and the besides the story, the credit also goes to the background score. Very haunting and immersive.

Hoping people watch this series because there is a need to remind ourselves that the most pressing need of this time is to stop the mindless exploitation of nature and those closest to if we truly believe in hollow slogans like one earth, one family, etc....

Such a fantastic direction
Sukma62416 August 2023
Nila Madhab Panda Madhav, who utilises cinematic approaches to societal issues in his seriess, directed this series. Each of his seriess explores a unique subject that evokes a visceral response from viewers and compels them to engage in critical thought about important issues. Nila Madhab Panda Madhav analyses the significance and effects of coal in his most recent work. By choosing this subject, the seriesmaker hopes to raise awareness of the deleterious effects of coal extraction and utilisation. As with all of Nila Madhab Panda Madhav's previous works, his most recent short should stimulate discussion and encourage viewers to consider the pressing need for renewable energy.

Realistic, Thrilling, Suspenseful
swatipathak-5748112 August 2023
Shows the pathetic condition of the Naxalis. Those who like cinema based on realistic themes would be delighted by it's gritty portrayal of characters set amidst the backdrop of the jungle of Odisha. The story follows the disappearance of a man as his niece follows the case. There seems to be a connection to the cursed Jengaburu mines and a local deity who blesses and curses anyone who disturbs the local customs. There is a depth to the story. It's an edge of the seat thriller. That promises to entertain. Local themes are often more captivating and the message to conserve is also a realistic and much deserved one.

Enjoy the scenic beauty of Odisha while watching a suspense thriller.
deepakkumarkahali11 August 2023
First of all thanks to the Director to display the natural beauty of Odisha in the most adorable manner. Something I saw for the first time in a web series telecasted on this level. Additionally, the dialogues in local languages like Odia and Sambalpuri, the cousins like Dalma, the costumes made in sambalpuri fabrics were real tadka. One will feel proud to be Odia.

Talking about the story the suspense is well maintained. But could have been better at some points. The living style of the tribes may be given some more scenes to justify their importance as they are the central characters. Priyas childhood life in the hills with Kadey would have been shown a little more. Dhruv's past in Keonjhar could have been shown. May be one more episode but ending should also be lengthier. These all if we compare it with the best web series. But it was a well portrayed series.

No Proper end for characters
imvikram17 August 2023
It's an overhyped series and hype obviously created by sonyliv. Storyline is mostly predictable and whenever you think what is the use of this character the character is killed, such a mediocre storyline.

Storywriters should have spent more time in writing the story, instead of killing them. Overall I can't blame the actors they have played their roles, but story lacked depth, by the time you reach the last episode, you just want to get over with it. Nowadays in the name of thrillers, most of the television series is doing is killing the characters. Story needs to be gripping which this series was not .

Great webseries
supriyasatkar16 August 2023
The Jengaburu Curse is an excellent programme to watch on television. I was engaged from the opening credits to the closing credits because to the series's intriguing story, fascinating characters, and surprising turns. Excellent amusement. I looked forward to each new episode because of the show's expert storytelling and well-executed tension. When severe weather occurrences are the new normal, this series is a must-see. When lust turns to greed, it brings forth a curse more worse than even the Jengaburu Curse. The only viable path forward is sustainable growth. You can count on more material like this in the near future.

The Jengaburu Curse is an excellent read and deserves a rousing round of applause. The series's stellar cast and crew made every moment seem genuine and authentic. This series is the first of its kind to come out of India. Guys, See The Jengaburu Curse if you haven't already! I'm relieved to see a show devoted to an urgent topic like wildlife preservation. Watching a show that tackles a serious problem is inspiring. This is India's first science fiction series, so don't miss it! It's great to see a programme talking about a topic that's so important right now, like environmental protection. Seeing a show that delves into a subject of such critical importance as the protection of natural resources is actually inspiring.

I thought that was a really good movie. I get why you didn't like it, but I think it's by far one of my favorites ever.

I think that was a really good movie. I'm glad you took me along to watch this one! I was not expecting it to be that good! I simply can't believe how they decided to end it, though.

I was not expecting it to be that good! It was such a strong contender for a modern classic!

Slow boring. Soo many copy paste 9/10 rating
chaurasta8 October 2023
The series is about mining & naxal. Saw after seeing IMDb high rating but looks like maximum rating are copy paste. Started watching the series, The story moves really really slow and will make you feel very much bored at times . Giving fake ratings is like cheating with viewers. IMDB being a responsible platform should check the copy paste ratings and delete it.

Casting is good .

Acting is good Story is very very slow Plot is very very slow and will bore viewers.

Sadly it wasted huge amount of time of mine. This series would have been made better with good story line and suspense. Sadly director created a slow story.

Saw a good movie after a long time that tells the story of the black gold.

This film was successful in showing the truth spread in the society, all the people played their characters well.

Hope people like this movie In a way, this film also succeeded in showing the corruption spread in the system.

Neela Madhav who is the director of this film, his every film is on a special topic. This time also he brought the issues of coal among the people.

Hopefully this film will also be successful in winning awards at the international level.

Due to the word of mouth publicity, people will want to watch this film in future.

Humans have mercilessly exploited nature rather than working to protect it. The Jengaburu Affliction is a wonderful example of this. Nila Madhab Panda has the best lines in the programme. Superb, as always. Everyone should make time to see such an enlightening programme. Best science fiction series
shankerravikumar24 August 2023
169 The show's creator, Nila Madhab Panda, employs cinematic devices to shed light on societal problems. Each of his shows delves into a unique subject that strikes a chord with viewers and prompts them to reflect deeply on weighty matters. Nila Madhab Panda's newest web series looks at how coal has changed modern society. The coal business has had terrible impacts, and the director wanted to highlight that. This new short by Nila Madhab Panda, like his other ones, should get people talking about the urgent need to switch to renewable energy sources. I give 10 star out of 10star because of this webseries attachment.
