Romantic Thriller About Beach Bums
lavatch12 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"A Lifeguard's Obsession" was a routine thriller about a psychotic lifeguard's obsession with women. Blake Hopkins exploits his position as a lifeguard and uses his binoculars to get to know his victims. The predator then oozes the charm to ingratiate himself, prior to letting the mask slip, and the result is mayhem and madness on the beaches of Florida.

The talented artist Maggie Temple is the object of Blake's attention following his previous obsession when he took the life of a young woman and her boyfriend. Now, Blake must find a way to get Maggie's boyfriend out of the way. Cade Kerrigan is also a lifeguard and a popular "influencer." His internet celebrity has gone to his head, yet he still recognizes how special Maggie is in his life.

The film was by-the-numbers with little imagination in the narrative choices. It is only through the heroic efforts of both Maggie and her friend Tina Jackson that Blake is thwarted. Yet in the climactic sequence, he is still able to rise from the dead like the phoenix after first getting clocked in the head, then stabbed in the jugular vein with an exacto knife.

The best part of the film was the location footage with glimpses of the beautiful ocean. But the best advice would be: Don't go near the water when Blake Hopkins is on duty.

Warning: Spoilers
The usual Lifetime scenario like in the Predator trilogy, Swim at Your Own Risk and etc. Movies. Stupid girl gets bored with her boyfriend, falls for the charms of a total stranger who has no background and turns out to be the psycho and does the jiggy with him in water (surprise surprise). BTW couldn't they find a less fugly actor to play psycho? Seriously!

Anyway to continue. Then we have the usual dumb character who discovers the true identity of psycho, in this case it is AJ who makes the discovery. And what does he do? Instead of going to Maggie to warn her about psycho, he follows psycho on the beach and threatens to expose him. And thus he secures his own demise.

The acting overall and especially psycho's acting was absolutely diabolical. And as usual with most Lifetime movies, the psycho is a distant cousin of Jason from Friday the 13th franchise, i.e. He is unkillable. Oh and of course let us not forget the crappy CGI ocean scene in the beginning of the movie.

So folks if you have not seen this one yet you won't miss much if you don't watch it.

LMN Cheapness Sets a New Record With The Usual Cliches
dttruman30 April 2023
The plots still remain the same when they use a lifeguard as their vehicle of antagonism. Production value also set a new low when they had to use visual effects instead of trying to create something real. As much was spent on the direction and the script as there was no imagination at all with the plot ending. How many times have we seen the same old bit when the victims are trying to escape, conveniently knock the.weasel on the head with anything handy and then in a desperate moment shoot or stab the villain. But this movie made a cliche out of it even more, the.criminal some how survives a supposed fatal attack to obsess again. I feel sorry for the actors here, because they are going to be associated this less than Oscar material.

Boring movie
pumping_iron-116 August 2023
Hmmm! Lifetime showing azz movies now. Guess they want to attract more men. Anyway, Silly woman goes surf boarding with an injured knee. So, surprise, surprise, knee gives out, she plunges underwater and is saved by the lifeguard who turns out to be a psycho. Yawn.

This movie really has nothing going for it, except pretty young women half-clad sometimes. The beach scenes are pretty. Other that that, It has no suspense, no drama, no mystery, no comedy, no nothing. I kept waiting for something to happen to get me excited, but then it was over. The acting wasn't bad. This movie just has too many pieces that don't fit together.
