Cringe-worthy
gjohnston11326 July 2013
You know those movies where you cringe because they are so bad? Like, you have second-hand embarrassment for whoever made the movie? Well, that's how I felt about this one. I saw this as a double feature with another Zombie film (Atom the Amazing Zombie Killer), and this movie almost made me walk out of the theater. The jokes tried way too hard, and the actors were awful (especially the "hot" girl who I'd score as a "three" in the dark).

Unfortunately the only favorable review for this movie seems to be from Mr. Berggoetz himself, as the user "nummy3" (him I am assuming) has rated all his other films favorably as well. How sad. Well, to end this rant, my advice is don't see this crap, and people who are not funny should not make movies). The end.

Worst thing ever on Amazon Prime

First, one midget does not equal a takeover. Second with all of the talk of white washing in movies I had taken a small stand hoping all roles in entertainment the more realistic like when a super hot woman or if you are so inclined hot guy puts glasses on and everyone pretends they aren't attractive well this piece of crap has cured me of that nonsense. Many people who I'm sure hide under bulky clothes all of the time for some reason showed themselves here are they brave, stupid or drunk only they know. And lastly when was the last time a group of 30 year olds waited for someone's parents to have people over said parents house for a party for maybe the smallest commercial hot tub ever. If this is real life that life is very sad and I almost feel bad making fun of it. Almost and then I remember the train wreck I just suffered and make fun of it with glee. If you are tired of people asking you what you want to watch and then say oh I don't care and complain about what you pick. Pick this and no one will bother you again.

Midget Talent Takeover
artpf5 December 2013
When some college students get together for a hot tub party, they're shocked to find out that their party is being crashed by some tiny, uninvited guests who are hungry for flesh - human flesh.

Here's what I learned about the director: he's 5'10"

That's it.

That and he looks like he's 50 and is flaming

What's the point of girls in hot tubs if the film is black and white?

It's a big let down.

And guess what? The other part of this film that's annoying is that there are no midget zombies. Don't expect munchkin land gone amok. I think that most of the "midgets" are on their knees to make them look smaller.Once the camera pulls back you can see how tall they are!

This movie is terrifying!
mwciarch16 July 2019
Wow. Horrific acting. Terrible story line. Shaky filming. You can hear the cameraman talking and laughing in some shots (that were probably filmed with a cell phone). And then there's those reflections in the widows and doors...of the behind the camera crew.

I LOVED IT!! So bad it's hysterical.

Would also make an awesome movie to use as a drinking game. Everytime a character says "There, there" or "Crazed Freak Zombies", everyone takes a drink.

My only complaint...and it's a pretty major let down...there are no little people zombies. 😡

Worst Thing on Amazon Prime - Part 2
mermaidsnwhiskey27 July 2019
I usually give 10-stars on everything but alas this is not one of those movies.

1. All actors are way too freakin old - let's have a hot tub party cuz parents are out of town! Hmm. Yeah.

2. Title is misleading - could have been Human Nugget Zombie Takeover or Short Person Zombies as most zombies were Tom Cruise sized.

3. If a zombie bites, there's blood. Even if it was ketchup, there would be something, instead of a zombie looking like it's necking with some bro's leg.

4. Billy DID STEAL the show - up until this point. He was the only reason this gets a 1-star. That hotdog loving Billy.

I couldn't make it past the point of when the zombies showed up. I like garbage but this was just too much for even me to handle.

Seems bad at first glance, movies turns for the better

Warning: Spoilers
Honestly, the first 10 minutes were pretty bad. But then, the first midget zombie! It was terrifying in its nature, and the first death (spoiler alert) was beautiful and heart reaching. Plus the abandonement from his friend really illustrates this fantastic plot and writing. Sure it's a bit choppy at places, but put next to movies like whiplash, figthclub, and Shawshank Redemption, you can see it's now worse than them but in fact better. Furthermore, the hot woman really drove this movie home. I wa sprobably bricked multiple times throughout. This movie was scientifically correct and really managed to wow me into submission. Overall a fantastic movie - a must see.

"The amateurism provides a close-to-home nature, the action is kind of fun, and it's pleasant and harmless all the more"
StevePulaski19 May 2013
Young twentysomething Amanda (Kristi McKay) deciding to throw a party after her parents depart was quite possibly the worst idea she could have. She invites over several of her friends for a weekend of fun and carelessness, when their party is crashed by none other than midget zombies hellbent on destruction. The gang takes refuge in Amanda's house and simply tries to stakeout for as long as they possibly can under uncertain circumstances.

For this reason alone, Midget Zombie Takeover lives up to its title because it gives the viewer exactly what they want. Shot for $2,000 and not appearing to waste a dime of it, it comes off as a movie or a shot that I, myself, probably would've made with a close friend of mine if I had continued. This provides a close-to-home feel and a simple justification for the reason I enjoyed the camaraderie and silliness of the picture.

This doesn't look like any horror film you're likely to have seen. It's shot under available sound conditions (some of the early party scenes are very difficult to hear) and lighting conditions, and features some amateur acting and special effects. This adds to its credibility and fun but also orchestrates something that is rather disengaging. Even at seventy-two minutes there's only so much one can take from this overly-silly, rambunctious material. Once the idea is out there and the gears of the plot have been running for about forty minutes, you sort of feel yourself becoming cold to the material.

The film was directed by Glenn Berggoetz, whose film The Worst Movie EVER! made headlines for grossing only $11 opening weekend from one ticket sale. Clearly, quantity of the film's gross and quality don't go hand-in-hand because the film was a fun, genial little endeavor that showed the joys of low-budget filmmaking and tremendously laughable plot lines in action, all at a concise seventy-five minutes. Berggoetz seems to be one of the only filmmakers today that wants to channel the Mystery Science Theater-movie style and I'd say he is more than qualified. Midget Zombie Takeover can be testy at times as far as pacing goes, but nonetheless, the amateurism provides a close-to-home nature, the action is kind of fun, and it's pleasant and harmless all the more.

NOTE: Midget Zombie Takeover will be screening at festivals throughout the United States. Additional information can be found on the film's Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/MidgetZombieTakeover

Starring: Kristi McKay, Matt 'Goose' Goosherst, and Anita Nicole Brown. Directed by: Glenn Berggoetz.

Terrifying and emotional!!!
larkindragon19 February 2023
A true classic, from the beginning of the film tension is built upon the beginning of the party, it then becomes very emotion with the "randy burger" incident. The spectacle of this movie is the accurate depiction of a midget zombie would look like. Which really sells the plot and highlights the crucial threat. The characters are perfectly crafted and all have thier own skills like the fat guy and his ability to detect the zombies. Or tony and his ability to reduce women and the flow of words that the says when he talks to his baby girl. Overall the critically acclaimed movie is truly special and an unique expirence.

Bizarre but really funny film
nummy327 April 2013
This is one strange film (some dirty talk at one point makes reference to asparagus), and while it was obviously made on a small budget (therefore it doesn't have much gore in it which could disappoint some zombie film fans), this is one of the funniest films I've seen in a long time. The film revolves around some college kids who gather together for a hot tub party, then get attacked by little zombies. The way the kids get killed are rather bizarre and hilarious, and I saw things in this film that I've never seen before. For example, there's a "death by ass" - that's all I'll say about that one. And there's a scene where one of the tiny zombies, while feeding on the co-ed he's just killed, gets, let's say, a little frisky with the corpse. Needless to the say, if you're looking for some high-brow indie film or an indie film with tons of blood and gore, this isn't the film for you. But if you're looking to just have a good time watching a film (and maybe incorporate a drinking game while watching - taking a drink every time a character comforts someone with the phrase "There, there" will leave you quite tipsy by the end of the film), then make sure to see this film.

Best movie I've ever seen
djbjohnson19 February 2023
Hate the first 8 minutes of just words, but this movie is amazing. The theme of midget zombies being an analogy for hitler is genius. When randy died, I shed a tear. This movie is brilliant. The fact all the girls except 1 are ugly is amazing too because it represents unfair societal standards for women. This is a very accurate depiction of midget zombies. The gore is amazing, the dialogue is amazing, the characters are amazing, and the camerawork is amazing. God bless this movie and it's creators. The line "look at what they did to randy" sent chills down my spine and gave me a bone bone. 10/10 would recommended.

Watched after a no contact directive with my not.so.ex.Girlfriend.<3
weeabunnycommissions25 September 2023
I watched this movie with my ex-girlfriend after 2 months of no contact. We watched it because we were looking to reunite after a concerning amount of sexual tension within our shared Pinterest board. This movie definitely rekindled the spark between us. Instead of fighting we were rooting for our favorite final girl Billy. The number of purposeful scenes such as Billy deepthroating a hotdog in the background for the first 5 minutes really got our loins pulsating. Let's just say this film really made for a steamy school night discord call. My kitten and my kitten ;) were purring. Please rekindle with your lovers by watching this Glenn Berggotez classic. Best director period sis.
