Serhiy Parajanov deserves better

Warning: Spoilers
Long and boring movie. Watched it at 2x speed and yet I almost fell asleep during the scene where Serhiy was talking to his wife in prison. I couldn't bear listening to them making those mouth noises. Not to mention, the whole movie was filled with strange purring as if the characters weren't allowed to talk loudly.

Also, the depiction of Serhiy was very stereotypical; there were many moments where we were shown him being close to male characters that seemed uncomfortable with it, even after Parajanov went out of prison. After years of being incarcerated, you would think that he would get depressed, but the movie doesn't show that. The movie underestimates the horrors of being in a Soviet prison. The most violence we see is Parajanov being stepped on, when in reality there were much worse things happening in soviet prisons. When Parajanov gets out, he acts the same as he did at the movie's beginning.

Overall, extremely underwhelming. Wasted movie potential.
