- Jerry is the story of Jerry Carter, a homeless man determined to change his life for the better. He's decided to take a step in the right direction when Dick Heard, a local politician, runs him over and kills him. Dick is terrified by what he's done, but he hides Jerry's body away and flees the scene.
Flustered, Dick runs home and starts trying to forget what has happened. This is made exceptionally more difficult when Jerry shows up in Dick's house, drinking his beer and enjoying the comforts of his bathroom. Dick is understandably unhappy about Jerry's arrival, and he is desperate to rid himself of the ghost. Jerry is sarcastic and sharp-tongued, and Dick starts to realize that he's holding on to some serious baggage. When Jerry explains that he's hung up on an unpaid debt to a lost love, Dick decides to repay what Jerry's owes to let him cross into the next life.
Together, after some awkward public appearances, Dick and Jerry knock on the door of Anne, Jerry's ex-girlfriend. When it comes to light that Anne has been sleeping with Dick, an aggressive Jerry starts to fistfight with the ragged politician, who ends up encountering a fate similar to Jerry's.
Together in the afterlife but trapped on Earth, Dick and Jerry begin an eternity together.
